- The history of Trinidad and Tobago begins with the settlements of the islands by Indigenous First Peoples. Both islands were visited by Christopher Columbus on his third voyage in 1498 and claimed in the name of Spain. Trinidad remained in Spanish hands until 1797, but it was largely settled by French colonists. Tobago changed hands between the British, French, Dutch, and Courlanders, but eventually ended up in British hands following the second Treaty of Paris . In 1889 the two islands were incorporated into a single crown colony. Trinidad and Tobago obtained its independence from the British Empire in 1962 and became a republic in 1976.
Pre-Columbian period
Human settlement in Trinidad dates back at least 7,000 years. The earliest settlers, termed Archaic or Ortoiroid, are believed to have settled Trinidad and Tobago from northeastern South America around 4000 BCE. Twenty-nine Archaic sites have been identified, mostly in south Trinidad and Tobago; this includes the 7,000-year-old Banwari Trace site which is the oldest discovered human settlement in the eastern Caribbean. Archaic populations were pre-ceramic, and dominated the area until about 200 BCE.
Around 250 BCE the first ceramic-using people in the Caribbean, the Saladoid people, entered Trinidad and Tobago. The earliest evidence of these people come from around 2100 BCE along the banks of the Orinoco River in Venezuela. From Trinidad and Tobago, they are believed to have moved north into the remaining islands of the Caribbean. Thirty-seven Saladoid sites have been identified in Trinidad and Tobago, and are located all over the island.
After 250 CE a third group, called the Barrancoid people settled in southern Trinidad and Tobago after migrating up the Orinoco River toward the sea. The oldest Barrancoid settlement appears to have been at Erin, on the south coast.
Following the collapse of Barrancoid communities along the Orinoco around 650 CE, a new group, called the Arauquinoid expanded up the river to the coast. The cultural artefacts of this group were only partly adopted in Trinidad and Tobago and adjacent areas of northeast Venezuela, and as a result, this culture is called Guayabitoid in these areas.
People in Trinidad should know about their history and talk about these topics on the radio the people are not educated about their history this is not in public school neither in high school or college this knowledge is very important for every Trinidadian to know
Hello 👋
What are you speaking about.
Schooling was to indoctrinate and train the "subjects " to further the interests/ greed of the colonizers in a civilized way
It used to be taught in high school, I for one went to Presentation College in San Fernando and we had a History class as a class on its own up until form 3. When I left Pres it was then changed and Social Studies was introduced into high school. So it’s no longer taught as a subject on its own. In primary schools it’s also taught as social studies.
I do in fact agree with this person because history is not being taught to our current generation of kids as it was taught to us adults. My problem with History class is that it was never made exciting so a lot of people weren’t interested in continuing to study history.
Such a rich history and such a shame that it’s still not in our schools. I hope this information continues to be shared.
Whoever researched and prepared this documentary on T&T must be commended for a job well done. Your presentation is factual; thank you.

The history of my ancestors
Great information but please use someone who is familiar with the pronunciation of names among other things, I had to replay certain parts to realize what was said.
Hello 👋
It's not an actual person , they've used the computer generated voice over app to do the narration, like so many other youtubers and other social media that don't use their own voices.
I love the video
Hello 👋
Well documented
1 I come from a trip around the interior of Ivory Coast, and that was made easy thanks to the old Ford of our brother Yera Joseph who drove it himself. He is sixty-seven years old now. We have even been to Gbégbéssou to strengthen our dear Sister Joséphine. We visited the brethren of Yamoussoukro, Bouaflé, Gagnoa and Dimbokro where Sister Elisabeth, the wife of Brother Christopher was happy to see me again. In Toumodi, we visited the brethren who have believed in prison. We also covered 45 km with difficulty right in the middle of a forest on a damaged and untarred path between Bouaflé and Sinfra. And the exhaust-pipe of the car got split. And in Kami, I got some insect bites. And it is on our way back that the other Brothers felt that too. I remember that in 2003, during the first trip around, by dint of walking, I had got blisters under the sole of my feet and for lack of money, I walked with that until I was healed. So one who waits for money before he commits himself in the mission of God is not worthy of me.
2 I am talking of these things so that one day, nobody may use this Message to colonise or found his royalty.
3 Well, brethren, we are on the eve of Christmas and the New Year’s Day. Be careful and keep away from any form of lust! Know that we have got something more precious than fine gold, and that thing, the world can neither buy it nor obtain it even if it were given it free of charge. It is the greatest thing to be and that is the Message of the hour! [Ed: The congregation says, "Amen!"].
5 I start on verse 17 to show that it is really question of the Jews. [Ed: Brother Philippe reads starting from verse 17…]. Well, I have always showed through this Gospel that God sends an angel because man is corrupt and has corrupted his own way of Salvation. And this angel comes out of the presence of God and comes on behalf of God with an everlasting Gospel as the only light to light the world as we can see it in Revelation 18:1. And this heavenly angel, whom we could imagine with wings, comes down from Heaven and gives his Message to a man on earth and this man is the representation of the heavenly angel on earth. And this man also is God’s portion and heritage among men.
4 Let’s now take our Bibles in the book of Acts of the Apostles… Acts 19:19…
My Paternal Grandmother was Born in Tobago she had all of her 6 children including my Father in Port of Spain Trinidad 🇹🇹

Hello 👋
Lots of information to know
💩nhk
Hello 👋
We in the Americas are the real niji’s and thank you 🙏🏾 ❤
I 💯 information of my country
Hello 👋
I can’t understand how the “slaves” outnumbered the colonizers at didn’t kill them?
nice, now i have a source for my history work.
Hello 👋
Good oral content, but images bear no correlation to the vocal content, making it difficult to stay focused on what's being related.
V interesting
A very good factual history.
However, you need to revise the screen illustrations. It should be in sync with what is being related. There are many artists who can do drawings of events before photography was invented.
And many historical photos are available.
It does not make sense with these crazily placed illustrations.
Who is the first history people in Trinidad and Tobago
Spanish settlers were in Trinidad seeking for resources from Trinidad
Hello 👋
Wow, they never change.
More like stealing resources....looting as usual
The images do not match the script ?
It's always crazy how slaves out number the masters but still they remain slaves kinder like today
I can’t understand that either. I’m glad I’m not the only person that is bothered by that.
We should start a group and once we have enough people backing us, do something about it
Who was the first ppl to come to Trinidad
Hi good morning
The 1st people, I'm not sure but the ones who have been there before visitors are the Amerindians, Caribs and Arawaks tribes.
Hello 👋
Moral of the story is 1492 is when the beginning of the end started.
For Trinidad it was 1498.
Our 400 years prophecy as in the the Bible in genesis 15;13 . Abraham seeds . Add 400 years to that we will end up in 1892 the birth year of Haile Selassie. Who later was crowned king of kings in 1930 November 2nd
😊
All
D Boss
When did Indians from India arrive there.
Indians first arrived in Trinidad in 1845
This video is a confused mess.
Hello 👋
Yes
Lol so we black ? Spanish? White?
A bag of lies
It is the blood of the Lord Jesus on the cross that blots out the sins of mankind. But how does one get to the cross? And how does one obtain salvation? In your time, God will send a prophet as an emissary to tell you what you must do...
And this emissary is the living prophet of your time.
#ProphetKacouPhilippe
21 If the book of a dead prophet could lead the people of God, After Moses God would not send prophets any more until the end of the world. If the serpent had not slept with Eve, there would be no Lutherans on earth. There would be no Methodists on earth. There would be no Branhamists on earth. It was an enemy who did that. And Matthew 13:24-30 says that they will be destroyed. [Ed: the congregation says: Amen!]. After the ministry of Noah, drunkards, prostitutes, nightclubs managers and Tommy Osborn, Morris Cerrulo, Benny Hinn and all those struggled in the same rotten waters of gutters. [Ed:The congregation says: Amen!]. Others were praising and worshipping to Jesus of Nazareth when the flood invaded them. Others were in full anointing or in evangelisation! Others were in their fortieth day fasting and praying! And this is how things should occur when a prophet-messenger completes his mission! Do you remember Sodom and Gomorrah? When Lot and his group were getting out, fire was falling on great politicians and religious people of Sodom and Gomorrah. [Ed:The congregation says: Amen!].
7 Well. The forbidden fruit, it is sexual act. Genesis 3 and Proverbs 30:20 are identical. Eve committed adultery with the serpent. God told Eve that she shall bear children with much suffering because, as the serpent, it was by sex that she sinned. But concerning man, it is the ground that is cursed and, thistles, thorns weeds began to grow.
Im a ISRAELITE OF THE TRIBE OF BENJAMIN
Boring🤔
Hello 👋
2 And this sublime doctrine is unavoidable even for very minor sins, that is to say, involuntary or by mistake. For example, if someone asks you for some money and you give it to him without any question and he goes to play lottery, buy cigarettes, buy some alcoholic drink ... or if you murmur or sing a pagan song by mistake... you are guilty. If you associate, even for one second, with a person of these Catholic, Protestant, evangelical and Branhamist churches, including Islam and Judaism or those missions and ministries to pray, you are guilty, just like the one who consults a diviner or fetish priest. If you are somewhere without a Bible and there is a Louis Segond or Scofield or Thompson or King James version, you shall look on that as a trap of Satan.
3 You cannot use street words or expressions. And neither for a dead person nor for a party, or a wedding, for nothing… shall you enter any of these churches, their vigils or their prayer cells. If you sin slightly in words with someone you knew to be a mocker or a gossip, it is a sin similar to one who goes into the house of a prostitute. These are sins to which we must be confronted, for at the point where we are now, whoever indulges even once in masturbation, lies, fornication, politics, adultery, or who does not pay the tithes and offerings ... is for us a redoubtable enemy and the subject of our troubles, he is like a leper in the camp of Israel.
4 But know that if someone torments us like Achan or unworthily follows this Message, he is under the curse of 1 Corinthians 11:27-30. If you are sitting there with some sins and people are confessing around you and that does not tell you anything, know at least that you will be filled with demons and with curses. Know that you came into the house of God just to return from it cursed rather than being blessed. Beware because sin is not a second nature for the sons of God and God said to Moses: "Those who have tempted me ten times will not enter into the promised land." Every time you sit there with some unconfessed sins in your heart, this goes up before God in the Heaven. [Ed: The congregation says, “Amen!”]. [Kc.18v1]
5 Likewise, you cannot confess with a smile on your lips. And you must take off your suit jacket before you confess. The public confession must not be some preaching, a testimony, a settling of accounts or a justification, but the confession with regret. Also avoid details except if the congregation asks for them. If you have sinned against someone and he still speaks of it, even if it was prior to the baptism, confess it to him then before the congregation. You see?
14 And you, as soon as you heard the name Kacou Philippe on the earth, even if you do not believe in me, know that you are under the judgment of God and if you do not obey everything I have commanded on behalf of God to mankind, know that your sins will be upon you until your death. You cannot know that something is wrong and go and do that. The Lord Jesus Christ did not die on the cross for that. And if you didn't know it, behold, you know it today.
