That's because Kenya has similar cultural influences like Trinidad. A mix of Indian and African culture. Indians migrated to Kenya as indentured servants just like they did in Trinidad to work for the British colonial government.

Tongans 🇹🇴 and other polynesians eat taro leaves too. I didn't know any other cultures eat them as well. The word for it in Tongan is LŪ and we usually stuff it lamb, fish or corned beef (or whatever meat you choose) with creamy coconut milk. That's awesome! Thanks for sharing
I’m a British born Grenadian that has travelled across the Caribbean and can say that Trinidad and Tobago has some of the best food on offer. Great to see Mark try the mauby, for many it’s not for them but I find it absolutely delicious. Seeing the roti and doubles makes me hungry for the food and a trip to T&T.

As a Trinidadian who visited Japan, almost everything in Japan tasted perfect. The major difference is our green seasoning. I had Ramen and I found it was a very strong flavor. I was missing my green seasoning, especially culantro/ shado beni.
As a "Trini to d bone" I must say hearty thanks for visiting and promoting our variety of food and culture. Video was 101% enjoyable. Well done! God bless.
Coming from Trinidadian and Venezuelan heritage, I just love this vid so much and miss all of the food and people of my parents homeland. What I love the most is this vid really captures the openness of T&T culture. As long as you have a good attitude and love good food, drink and music, you will feel right at home. I get joked on a little bit for being allergic to dasheen and taro, but it’s all love all the time. For any visitors I have a list of things to do. Eat all day everyday day, drink all of the sweet drinks, local sodas, mauby, just drink it all. Drink a Carib and a Guinness on tap, the Guinness in T&T is so different, a little sweeter and super tasty, buy seasoning and bring it home!!! This is a must for all foodies. Trini seasoning is on another level. Eat some cheese. I always get some cheese for grilled cheese while there, it just tastes better. If you sew, go to the fabric stores, beautiful fabrics with so many patterns from so many cultures. Drink the local rum, chill at a bar and strike up conversations with the locals, definitely have a few nights out at St. James and get some chicken or pig foot souse when your done partying, hit up mas camp, maracas beach to chill for the whole day and get some bake and shark. There is actually a lot of great shopping and things to do. Just go and enjoy!

Well my friend, if you didnt know, in the late 1700s (1797) when the Spain still controlled Trinidad and was under treat of a british invasion, the Spanish governor (Chacon) invited all the catholic planters from the other islands to come settle with their slaves in Trinidad with a promise of free land. The majority of the caribbean islands at that time were french speaking, so the names and culture were the same. The main language in Trinidad at that period with the influx of those many peoples was french or french patois up until the 1960s. that is why we Trinis also call avocado zaboka.

Trinidad and Tobago has French influences as well hence, we will say zaboca
Well my friend, if you didnt know, in the late 1700s (1797) when the Spain still controlled Trinidad and was under treat of a british invasion, the Spanish governor (Chacon) invited all the catholic planters from the other islands to come settle with their slaves in Trinidad with a promise of free land. The majority of the caribbean islands at that time were french speaking, so the names and culture were the same. The main language in Trinidad at that period with the influx of those many peoples was french or french patois up until the 1960s. that is why we Trinis also call avocado zaboka.
