You are SO fortunate that your mother kept all of these recipes and now you have them to draw from. I would love to just look at that book, what an amazing blessing Patrick. NOW, you are sharing them with us. Thank you!!!
Renee, thank you, I love to share, just have to be careful, she has some stuff that would be considered dangerous, such as her pokeweed recipes, thanks again
Thank you for the information, Patrick! I love learning new ways to use different parts of different plants. How special that you have a book like that from your mom.
Thank you, yes my mother kept track of her mother's (my grandmother) recipes as well as her own so I would have them, it's among my most loved treasures.
I learned of Orris Root powder by a horticulturist to make cuttings of bushes, plants to take cutting and dip in Orris Root powder to help the cutting make roots quicker than just putting in soil or water. May Chang EO keep the citrus fragrance in your soap longer I'm told too, I'm sure you already knew that though
Hi Tanya, I have never used it as a root stimulant, but will have to try that, thank you.
What a wonderful opportunity that you have with your mom’s recipes to glean from. This is something I will definitely try. Blessings to you Patrick.
Lauren, thanks so much, let me know how it goes
Wonderful! I minored in horticulture and herbalism many years ago in college. One of the main reasons was my fascination with the properties of plants. I so enjoy you sharing many lesser known botanicals and how you use them! I am amazed at the price drop, ground oris root used to be 3 to 4 times that. Thanks so much for sharing!,
Oh how wonderful, horticulture is one of my loves, though I did not study it in school, I have tried to self educate for most of my adult life. I appreciate your kind comments as always.
I loved this video, so informative! I’m making herbal sachets and mixing this in with the dried herbs with some essential oils. Thank you.
Oh my. I love irises. So beautiful. This is new thing for me to learn!!! Now I want to find some lol and try my luck with making the powder ❣️. You are a spring of information! Thanks again for a wonderful video❣️❤️🤗. Take care 😊🤗❤️

A couple days ago I was just reading about fixatives in perfumes and types of essential oils that are fixatives Patrick. The most popular fixative essential oil was patchouli. I found a lot of essential oils I never heard of that are consider fixatives. Interesting and good video. It seems like a short summer this year. Take care and stay cool Patrick! 👍😊🙏♥️😃🌄
Thanks so much Kenya, yes it's amazing what chemistry can teach us, have a great day and you stay cool too

Keeley, you are very kind, thank you so much
@@SoapyOaksFarm can I make a request for a video to show what you can do with lavender plants. Mine are in full bloom and other than drying the flowers, I'd love to know if I can do more with the plant.
So interesting. Iris are one of my favourite flowers along with peony.
Hi Kath, oh me too, so many colors and sizes, thanks for being here
but I heared thar orris is also prized for its scent, but maybe it needs aging?! does your roots have that scent that is prized by many? (I never smelled it personally)
So interesting. Who knew? I sure didn’t. 😂 thank you Patrick, I learn so much from your videos and truly enjoy each an every one of them. Thank you my friend 😁👍❤️

Hiya Donna, you are very welcome, have a great day
Was your powder ready to use immediately for perfume purposes? I was under the impression that the roots were ready ideally in a couple to years for that powdery scent.
In fact I find that it's very fragrant right off the bat without any need to agent. Thanks so much
Thank you for sharing this information. I'll definitely give this a try.
It's my pleasure, enjoy
Could you freeze dry it instead of dehydrating?
Absolutely how you dry it is completely up to you. Give it a shot
Love this thank you so much for sharing this with us..
Rebecca, it's my pleasure, thanks so much
Patrick, super interesting video it was so nice to know this information 🐿🌱🆒
Lenna, and thank you for being so kind and supportive.
I have so many of these! So many roots. Mine are getting so congested. This serves two purposes. Thank you so much Patrick! Free .99 for me since I have them already. 🛀Jen
I would have enjoyed chatting with your mum. She sounds fascinating. So glad she taught you and you also seem to have inherited that awesome instinct for bath and beauty. That hair shampoo sounds brilliant.
There you go Jen, Enjoy!
Thanks so much Jen, I love sharing it with you, big hugs
The things we learn from you! You have me on the edge of my seat with this one. I like your little grinder. Is it a spice or coffee grinder? I'd like to find out more about this orris powder and how to use it. Thank you for sharing.
Hi there Irene, yes indeed, just a coffee grinder, I find it works best for most items, though sometimes I have to sieve some of the woodier things.
Any particular bearded iris or can all coloured beared iris do?
Is it similar to ginger?
Wow that is cool. I will have to try it sometime. Great of your Mother making such a wonderful book and to have it is a treasure. Take care
Ginny, oh I know, she started just recording my grandmother's potions and tonics, then moved on to adding her own, I now add mine too, sadly I have no heirs to pass it on to, something I think about often. Big hugs
@@SoapyOaksFarm I know I for one would love to get my hands on it. LOL I love a good recipe book. That is sad that you have no one to leave it too. I'm sorry about that. It will be such a loss to have it disappear. The info you have shared with us so far is so great. Hugs Take care
Ginny, thanks so much, I really do appreciate that. when I get ready to "retire" I most likely will find a fellow soaper and share what I have, thanks again for all your support
@@SoapyOaksFarm That will be great to give it to another soaper. Then the legacy will carry on. And you are very welcome.
❤
Hi Patrick
