      i worked my way up
      i started at 5, i even had trouble with that the first couple times
      but then i got easier
      then i went to 10, then 20, then 30

      Jonas Geiser i don't use any apps or anything like that, lots of people recommend headspace tho, i just set a timer and focus on my breathe or the sounds around me.
      there are a ton of tutorials on youtube. just search how to meditate. don't get caught up in all the frills of the tutorials, like how you sit, what you do with your hands. etc... its all about what you do in your head

    I am a teacher and I have added five minutes of meditation to the beginning each class period. I have found that this provides my students with an excellent break during their day and provides some space between what has happen before and what happens next - time to breathe. This video is an excellent resource in helping students understand how and why we are sitting quietly to begin class time.

      I'm a section leader in my marching band, and I've done the same with the members of my section! It really gives them a chance to breathe and clear their minds before learning new stuff, has made for much more productive rehearsals!

    I've been practicing it for 3 months. It really works!!
    But most people don't continue it, saying that they can't control random thoughts. But this will happen at first. After a couple of weeks of continuous practice. Things will improve, the food will we be tastier, you will see beauty in everything. No anxiousness and all that great stuff. But for this you have to give atleast 2 weeks. Then you ll be addicted to meditation.

    1. Physically changes your brain.
    - Meditating for just 8 weeks increases brain size in three beneficial areas
    Left hippocampus - learning ability (ability to retain information)
    Poster cingulate cortex - ability to control how the mind wanders
    Temporo parietal junction - grows emapthy & compassion
    Amygdala - decreases cell volume (responsible for fear, stress & anxiety)
    2. Reduces bad emotions
    Stress - too much of it is bad (like anything else). (Helps you better manage stress & dramatically decreases the negative side effects of stress).
    Depression - "Just as much as commonly prescribed anti-depressant drugs" (31% less chance of relapsing)
    Anxiety - Dramatically reduces anxiety symptoms (the general anxiety disorder)
    3. Helps overcome bad habits
    (Stimulates the) Dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (responsible for willpower)
    4. Concentrate & focus better
    - Increases ability to concentrate.
    - Increased the length of which workers were able to concentrate on a single task.
    5. Extremely healthy
    - Meditation decreases the amount of c-reactive protein in the blood (correlates with hearth disease)
    - Significant drop in inflmmation
    - In 3 months time will decrease the blood pressure to a much more beneficial state.
    - Can protect the length of your telomeres.
    - Will slow down aging.
    6. Makes you more intune with your well-being.
    - 30 times the level of gamma waves (assoociated with intelligence, compassion, self-control, and feelings of well-being.

    I've been meditating regularly for 17 years. It's not a cure all but it does make a difference in your outlook and attitude. That being said it's not easy and it's important to not get frustrated when you don't see immediate results. You won't see results at all. You'll just transition into them naturally over time.

    Excellent information! I've been practicing meditation in the Yoga tradition for 25 years and it has been a blessing in my life. Everyday I feel the benefits of meditation in my mind, my capacity to overcome challenges in life and to be a better person in general. For people who suffer from mental health disorders, anxiety or for people who want to improve their lives I highly recommend practicing meditation twice daily.

    i dont have a particular routine for meditation but i try on a consistent basis, when i dont need to use my mind, to enter a meditative state. at first its hard to silence exessive thinking. but with practice, thoughts have less of a pull and you are no longer thrown around or at the mercy of your own mind. its seriously beneficial to heath.

      +Leone Silva I think it is kind of the video creators responsibility to leave his sources in the comment to make his points actually valid. Just as scientists do that when they write a paper. Because it's unnecessary to google 20 things. I also struggle with searching studies somehow. I tend to not get to the papers but only descriptions of the study. Why do you have to be a bitch about it anyways

    I’m an MMA fighter in training, I just started training 9 months ago and I realized I wasn’t reaching my full potential in training, so I was looking for a way to improve so I thought maybe I should work on my mental state since working on my physical state is only taking me so far. After watching this video I know now if I want to be the best fighter I can be I need to meditate

    Dude, your videos are really great. You seem like you have a real insight into the things you talk about and present solid scientific evidence to back up your statements and suggestions.
    With that in mind, I have taken a keen liking to your ideas and decided to try them for myself.
    My only question is this (although I feel I know the answer): In your videos you talk about the negative effects of things such as porn, drugs and other types of addictions. So what is your take on marijuana?
    I can only assume it's just another substance that hinders self-improvement and growth, but I'd love to hear your take on it.
