    The Sinquefield Cup is a prestigious chess tournament held annually in St. Louis, Missouri, named for the founders of the Saint Louis Chess Club, Rex and Jeanne Sinquefield. The tournament first ran in 2013 and has been part of the Grand Chess Tour since 2015. The prize fund in 2022 is $350,000 and the winner receives $100,000.

      too underated as well bruh if only he's registered as filipino not american then all filipino fans will know him and possibly have more fan base than hikaru filipinos are very very patriotic but wesley is not well known because theres no news about him before maybe but when they change his flag then he became less famous because chess here is well known all filipinos atleast know how all the pieces move, he will be the 2nd pacquiao. i wish he changed his flag or the goverment give him an offer to represent our country... i think that will change his game a little bit since now there's more people supporting you, like with hikaru he got better at chess since he started streaming, he even said it himself, and his stats don't lie as well.. just imagine wesley got the fame he deserve and not be treated like an outcast everywhere.

      Spend as much time playing, studying, thinking about chess as they have and the board is a permanent fixture in your brain and you can play games out in your head, so the squares/piece movement is quickly/easily translated into the position in their mental chess board. I can do this a bit, but just not as fast as they can.

    I just LOVE how available these stratospheric chess masters have made themselves. I grew up during the Korchnoi-Karpov-Fischer-early Kasparov era and cherished every news clip and rare TV footage we could get. Now... here they are, including Carlsen and everyone else, just allowing us to come close and be inspired... and find ourselves in AWE, every day. It's amazing.

    I remember long after he retired, Kasparov spotted a winning continuation as a commentator that the player (Topalov) missed. For me the best player in history. The young version of him was crazy aggressive.

      @@King_Konglish I assumed spite because Hikaru used the exact same expression to critique Niemann's blatantly bad analysis. It definitely feels like someone who got offended trying to return fire at Hikaru. And unlike Niemann's weird analysis, which for a lot of people might be the strongest reason why they sus him of cheating, there is absolutely nothing wrong with this analysis by Hikaru. That's why I called it a desperate failed attempt. Even if it was actually just meant as an innocent joke, it still feels forced and inappropriate.
