      Honestly, Magnus is my favorite due to his seemingly inhuman understanding of the game. However, I cannot just not root for an underdog in someone like Hans. I really want to see Hans reach the top-5 in the world of chess and cement himself there because I like his story and want to see the entertainment his personality would provide reaching those heights. Still, Magnus is my favorite, so gotta say I am ultimately Team Magnus.

    What is amazing is how Magnus calmly beats a player of Hans' strength as if he were playing a student of the game. It was said of Capablanca that Capablanca's plans were clear and understood by their opponents, but they couldn't defend against those. They knew, 20 moves in advance what Capablanca would do but could not counteract the plan. This game reminds me of that. Magnus sacrifices a rook for the bishop, and one can deduce that he will create an endgame in which the two bishops thrive. This is clear from the beginning but cannot be stopped. He executes with such simplicity and accuracy. Magnus is a reincarnation of Capablanca and Kasparov in one integrated player.

      Brother, if Magnus gives up his queen for a rook and bishop, is that a queen sac? Or are you going to argue it's not a queen sac, because he got some compensation for it? REALLY?
      Is it a rook sacrifice? YES
      Is it an exchange sacrifice? YES, that's more specific
      Is it sacrificing the rook for a bishop? YES, that's even more specific (the exchange can mean the rook for the knight or the bishop).
      So both definitions are true. By your logic, calling it an exchange sacrifice is inaccurate because that is also insufficiently precise (does not denote for the knight or bishop).
      So my question for you, if Magnus gives up the queen for the rook and bishop, is that a queen sac? Because by your logic, it is not, but the logic of literally 100% of chess players is that it is indeed a queen sac. Same goes for the rook sac 😉

    Man, I really don´t get the thing about disrespect. I haven´t seen any disrespect anywhere in this game. Magnus knows he is a better positional player, and he saw that there was no immediate disadvantage on exchanging a rook for a bishop, so he goes for it. In fact, Magnus just chose the most obvious way to stop the bishop exchange on g7, which could lead to a bad position for black. This whole idea of disrespect was just clickbait.

The greatest end game player of all time and one of the greatest chess player.

    • @Markus451
      @Markus451 Місяць тому +2

      Yes, but this 'disrespect' idea is GOOD clickbiat, which is unfortunately needed to build a YT channel these days. But it's an old idea. I remember a heavyweight boxing match (before UFC took over) where the very fast boxer tried throwing his right cross with NO jab beforehand, and this was considered very 'disrespectful' because everyone 'knows' you can't just throw a powerful right without some kind of lead-up preparation. But just like with Magnus, the move WORKED because it was unexpected. WTF ever trains to defend against that? Nobody. Plus it's always great to make your opponent angry because then he forgets the plan so carefully developed with his coaches.
      PS: Who remembers the boxing match I'm talking about? Was it Ali using his right hand to jab Foreman & piss him off?

    • @drmikechess
      @drmikechess  26 днів тому +1

      The immediate disadvantage is he gave up the rook for the bishop for highly questionable compensation, the move was objectively dubious and Hans Niemann had the better position for a while after the sac and as a direct result of the sac. Add the flashiness of the move, and his relationship with Hans Niemann specifically, and many people would interpret this as Magnus making a "statement." But yes I see your point 100% 👍

    • @Batstone22
      @Batstone22 27 днів тому +1

      Good question, I'm guessing because after the exchange of Bishop and Knight, Magnus would use the light squared Bishop to pick off the a4 pawn, and then he has a 2 to 1 pawn advantage on the queen side. And soon Hans would be down 3 pawns as the black rook eyes b4 After that it doesn't seem like there are many moves for white. The rook would defend the Bishop on a4. Black's pawn structure is just so strong on both sides that, back to the original question, once you trade the knight for dark bishop, after that, it's black who has targets to pick off, but white would have not much to attack even with 2 rooks.

      The way I see it, it would be good for Black. Magnus probably misses this strategy. I'm not sure if Dr. Mike would agree with this continuation, but if black plays Bg7, white's queen should take the knight on e4. Then if Bg7 captures the knight on c3, it attacks the rook. This leads to Q x Q and Rook x Q. At that point, the white rook likely needs to move to c1 to attack the bishop, but then black rook takes e3, which also protects the bishop. I believe that if white queen doesn’t take the knight on e4, they will lose their knight after Bg7 captures on c3. sorry, I'm just a musician who loves chess. Are there any better ideas from more experienced players, so I can learn ?

Would you be open to a discussion for collaboration? I can go into details and show some examples of our exceptional chess designs. Let me know if interested.

    Stop claiming it's all brilliant. Rxe3 ideas in the Averbakh are common. Put a black pawn on c5 and a white pawn on c4 and what do you have? An Averbakh.
