I remember seeing one in Munchen, Germany around 2013 or 14, during a holiday, on a high-end luxury and sports car dealership. Asking price was 90 000 euros if I remember correctly. It's insane how valuable they got nowadays. I would be happy with a regular 300 CE-24. The C124 is one of Mercedes most elegant coupes ever released by them.

I almost bought an AMG Hammer from the Lamborghini dealership in Columbus Ohio around 2007. I think they wanted around $20,000 which for me in my early 20s would have been a lot to pay for an old used Mercedes that was 100% going to be my daily driver, and only car. I want to say that it was a missed opportunity but had I bought that car I would have either driven it into the ground because I couldn't afford to properly maintain it or I would have wrecked it somewhere along the way. I would have had fun driving it though.

I am 100% sure I saw this Hammer at Car Week this year! I was in my E60 M5, and saw it by the Mercedes-Benz booth, where they had all of their cars set up (a bit up the street from hole 18 of the Pebble Beach Course!)

I wanted a 300 SL Gullwing in the 1990s I was a kid back then and wanted to save all my money until I could afford a run down broken SL for 50k. And by the time I had the money it was 250k by the time I had that money it was 1 million.... Same happened with the Hammer to many enthusiasts.

Between old sports cars hiking up because rich people have more money than sense, and wannabe drifters smashing every good body panel for every 80's-00's Japanese sports car, to hot rodders doing the same to American muscles and now on to trucks, the average Joe can't even get a 50 year old truck that's 3/4 rusted out for less than 5k.
I may be in the minority, and it is my opinion, it is a neat car. However, I look at owning this akin to owning a boat. Not for me, better if a friend owns it and I can enjoy it. The worry, the fragility, expense, the temperamental nature- what real "Fun" is it? Great, you can evoke envy or such from a certain segment of the car community...wow, that's awesome. I could be wrong, definitely true, but experience with human nature says I'm more right than wrong

I bought a brand new 300ce on Jan 8, 1992.... 330,000 miles later..... I'm still driving it .. The styling is timeless.
There is a wrecked SLK 320 AMG local to me for $2900. The oil pan broke in the accident. I'm hesitant.
