    felix, just a suggestion from my side, just remove the concept of the ("Good day / Bad day") from your vocabulary. Just tell yourself that you will play the best no matter what day it is. That thought just makes you complacent that you losing matches is just because it wasn't your day. I have been watching you since a long time now and you have the potential of winning a 15-25k singles but still you are getting knocked out in the first/ second round of qualis. Its not because of your game but because of your mental preparation. All the very best to you in pursuit of your journey!

      This "good day/ bad day" thing don't exist when he is playing, it's just an excuse he uses when he is commentating after every lost he's had since day 1 of the channel, "just woke up" "ate to little" "ate to much" "my arm itches" or whatever. He does a great job, trains a lot, has the best edition of all tennis channels and he is the one who does it, but I always know in the first 20 seconds of the match if lost or won because he will complain about somethiung first thing if he lost. Really annoying sometimes.

      I hate when players use the “wasn’t playing my best” mentality. There is no such thing. As a player who can speak to this back in the day, when plan A isn’t working, you have to dig into the tank to find a way to win. Generally not playing your best is really how you play on a consistent basis. Even Agassi said he only played his best maybe 5 times a year.
      Something to think about when you are competing.

    Another thing to remember Felix is that you are a pro now. And the difference between an amateur and a pro is, an amateur blames the loss on the bad day for his form. And a pro will keep his form consistant and struggle for the win irrespective of the good day or a bad day. Consistency in for and consistency in the mind is what defines a professional player. The more you are losing in your match, the more you need to trust in your training where you have worked super hard to develop your form. Trust in you training and let go of those distracting thoughts. That will improve your reaction speed as well allowing you to get to the ball, consolidating your game. Keep training and compete smartly. Good luck and god bless. 👍

    I guess it's quite painful to make a video about a tough loss and to show us what is clearly not your best tennis, but that's also what I like in your journey. You show things how they are with nice and tough moments because that's how a sport career is and everything is not always positive. It would be so much easier to only show your wins and your best shots, but it wouldn't be authentic and reliable. So thanks for sharing with us also when it's going wrong.

    Hey Felix, I have been watching you grow as a tennis player so I am taking this liberty to give some advice, player to player. When you are a set down, your mind needs more than just “I need to try harder to win more points”. Ask your self this when Federer or nasal were down 2 sets and were at match point but still came back to win the match in a 5 setter what did they tell themselves. It is not complicated. You just need to have that desperation to win. That hunger for the win will take over your mind and remove any other distracting thoughts. Many coaches and psychologists call this ‘getting into the zone’. That is when all that training will consolidate into your form for the match. Without those distracting thoughts about losing the match and only having that drive for the win will even improve your reflexes. So let your thoughts flow and only let the thought about you winning the match under any circumstances remain as firm as a rock. That will provide you the winners mindset you need to reach the podium. You have the potential. But you are too focused on your and your opponents ranking and how they have better game than you. Keep your focus on you winning and firmly keep that thought in mind as you play and you will prevail. God bless and good luck bud.👍

    Good video as always. I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to use more slices and drop shots to disrupt your opponent's rhythm and construct winning points. I see Djokovic and Dimitrov do that a lot. It's a bit risky but it can elevate your game beyond ITF level.

    the temp of the game was different from the first game to the second, if you see the first one, the dude was on the receiving end of the temp, i’m the second game, the opponent was controlling the point. Since the temp was faster you should bring your racket back sooner, if you can, a slice back hand hand short and low to the court would have give off set his temp since was was so far back as a baseline aggressor.

    • @DATennis
      @DATennis 6 місяців тому

      I'm not Felix but I'll give you advice. Athletes are not always the best to tell you what works and not. Its not that they can't give you advice, it's that a huge portion of them don't understand the sport. They play well and they tell you roughly what they feel. You want to get more knowledge then follow people knowledgeable. Coaches, professors. there are tons of professionals that study sports and can guide you better.
      Want to get stronger don't hit the weights in the gym. You are a tennis player, what do you need so much muscle mass for (Sinner hits with more power than anyone and see him). Train for explosiveness, strength while lifting weight is not the same strength as the one you use while playing. There are different kinds of strengths. If your chest is concave work along a dietician if possible to make a plan to gain weight while training. You want to work in the gym, okay, focus on explosive movements. Start with your bodyweight work towards some level of weights. Look for explosive workouts for chest, arms, shoulders and as you build capacity move to plyometrics (it's more intense). If you have questions you can write to me. I have been in your position.

    Just my impression on that second game but it looks to me like you "gave up mentally". which is something you should try to notice as fast as possible when it's happening. This is something that is really hard to control but there are mental tricks that you can do to "reset" and try and get back into the game as if it did not happen. nonetheless , your level is really high and you're still improving so that in itself is a good sign.

    • @DATennis
      @DATennis 6 місяців тому +2

      Not even Djokovic maintains his level each day. He has fluctuations. The more reliable your game is the higher the floor. Felix's average is roughly of an unranked or high thousands ranking player. His floor is of someone getting beaten by them. That's it, he has to improve. He had a bad day, but your ranking is built on the sum of all your performances. His best way is to continue improving.

    • @christontz9034

      @@DATennis like maybe narrowing what the gap looks like between your good days and your bad days?

    • @DATennis
      @DATennis 6 місяців тому

      @@christontz9034 I could write an essay on this topic specifically, on the whole game aspects that produce fluctuations and winning percentages. But to simplify it, the factors are (super simplified):
      -Athleticism
      -Base tennis level
      -Quality of your technique
      -Gameplan or gamestyle
      -Attitude
      Attitude is overrated. Rather than overrated, overdiagnosed. It's important, an extreme would be tanking the days you feel are bad. Most players don't do that, they could maybe accept it more. But most do just fine with them. What most people usually see are players losing because of other factors (normal fluctuations) and blame it on the attitude. There are some cases that are attitude related, but most times it's just their tennis level.
      Athleticism means having the fitness to perform day after day at a high level, recovering well.
      Base tennis level where you are roughly as a tennis player, a guy with the level to compete in the sub 12 category, juniors, top 10 level, top 100. If I have the best technique ever and attitude but my base tennis level is that of a 14 year old. I'm getting destroyed by the guy ranked 800 even if his technique is somewhat worse and if he wants to tank.
      Gameplan or gamestyle I'm talking tactics and way of playing. If it's too risky, naturally I'm fluctuating more than someone more passive.
      Technique means having a sound technique that uses joints and muscles right. That is able to perform over and over even under pressure. Over and over over thousands of repetitions. Novak has this better than anybody, his technique is flawless. To compare good and bad technique would be Shelton and Zverev before this year. Shelton serve is beautiful. Uses all his joints in natural positions. No tension is making it miss. Zverev used to throw his arm in the wrong direction and when there was tension the arm couldn't move the joint smoothly.
      So for Felix, he has mainly, to move on the first 3, athleticism, base level, technique. The better your technique and athleticism are, naturally your base level will go up somewhat and your floor and ceiling will be closer. Because not many things can go as wrong. Base level goes along those 2, if you have those 2 and train drills, put in the repetitions, increase your capacity to move faster your limbs, it'll come up. That's where he has to improve. He does that and he is going up. If you have any question because I kind of went on a ramble ask.

    Having the start time changed and being woken up for a match is completely absurd, is that normal for these types of tournaments?

    Dude you’re just too good to be getting blown out by that guy just because you woke up right before the match….

    Felix PLEASE. stop this "good day/ bad day" , it's just an excuse you use when you are commentating after every lost he's had since day 1 of the channel, "just woke up" "ate to little" "ate to much" "my arm itches" or whatever. You do a great job, train a lot, has the best edition of all tennis channels and you are the one who does it, but I always know in the first 20 seconds of the match if you lost or won because you complain about somethiung first thing if you lost. Really annoying sometimes.

    Surely these last few months you've leaped in progress right? It feels like I'm watching a completely different player as of late

    Looks like you weren’t playing your best at 30-30 and deuce. Maybe its just mental but im sure the outcome would’ve been different had you won those points. 😢

    I know little about tennis but it seems that the matches you need to win merely to get into the main draw would be taxing on the body. All for the right to play ostensibly better players who will be rested.
