FILM SYNOPSIS♡
When a retired opera singer leaves her inheritance to her cat, Duchess (Eva Gabor), and three kittens, the woman's butler drugs the cats and abandons them in the countryside in order to inherit the fortune himself. Lost in unfamiliar territory, Duchess and the kittens meet Thomas O'Malley (Phil Harris), an alley cat willing to help them return to their home in Paris. They meet several kooky characters along the way, including two English geese and an alley cat jazz band.

Fun fact, I actually named my 1st cat after Thomas. His full name was literally Thomas O'Malley Taylor.
Nay....Thomas is REAL Dad goals. And by REAL Dad, I don't mean biological "I made this baby" Dad compared to "I married your Mom" Dad. I mean the Dad who LOVES his child unconditionally....Enough to save Marie from danger....TWICE. A Dad who is willing to fight the Butler to protect his beautiful lady and the children from being abducted. A Dad who provides for them (not only cream for breakfast, but a safe place to rest when they were tired). He agreed to get them to Paris and he could have done that and then said "OK, I got you to Paris. I kept my end of our deal. I'm done. He was a kind and chivalrous gentleman and escorted them all the way home. Yes he was a bit shocked, initially, when he found the beautiful Duchess and then realized she came with 3 kids. But he loves them and protects them as a real father would. They aren't an unwanted inconvenience.

His name is Roquefort 🤭 who's also the name of a french cheese.

Absolutely. He went out in the storm, trying to find Duchess and the kids when they were abducted. (AFTER BEING DRUGGED, no less) He was the one who alerted O'Malley that Duchess and the kittens were in trouble when Edgar attacked them. He BRAVELY walked into a group of alley cats to get them help. He unlocked the box, freeing Duchess. Absolutely a hero.

See what's so great about O'Malley is that he's thrown by the kids for about a second, then he adjusts.
Believe it or not, this is very realistic to how cats actually act. Kittens are kittens. They don't care where they come from.

Honestly, one of my favorite parts of this movie is how the dogs hear Edgar coming, know nothing about what he’s doing, and simply decide they’re going to jump him and take his stuff
When I was little and our family would watch The Aristocats, I forced them to play the movie three times in a row because I just loved the movie so much. While my favorite Disney movie has changed to Tarzan, the Aristocats will always have a special place in my ❤😊

This film illustrates well the life of the rich French bourgeois during the Belle Époque.
The kittens' names are french references : Toulouse for Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, a french painter, and it's also the name of a french town, Berlioz for Hector Berlioz, a french composer, and Marie is a common first name in France even now.
For the voice act, in France, Frou Frou is voiced by a man, and Roquefort and Lafayette are voiced by Roger Carel, a guy who was the french voice of a lot of Disney characters like Kaa, Sir Hiss, Pongo, The Cheshire Cat, King Hubert, Jiminy Cricket, Winnie the Pooh, Coco Rabbit, Piglet and a lot more.

I love this movie to death. It was my go to movie to watch when I couldn’t think of anything else to watch as a kid. Edgar’s antics with the dogs are the funniest damn scenes I’ve ever seen
Napoleon & Lafayette are one of the most hilarious character duos in film history.

I agree, the music in this is just fantastic~! And for all the flaws the film might have, it's just like pure fun especially given the other movies around this point in the Disney canon.

I always liked how the show is based in Paris, and all the characters have French and British accents except for the 2 hound dogs. They clearly have southern accents from the southern US...😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I loved the movie as a kid but didn't know how to spell Toulouse, so when I got a betta fish I named him "Tulus" spelled like that haha
The Aristocats is my favorite Disney movie as well. I used to watch it all the time (and still do) and the songs and characters are amazing.

@@RukiyaReacts the guy who sings the begining song is Maurice Chevalier a french singer. I'm happy he's the one who sings it in the original version too and in french at the end. I read on Internet, it was his last.
One of my favorites growing up for sure. The music is awesome! I was literally typing "I can't think of what the warning was about, unless it was one of the animals" and then the Chinese cat (Shun Gon) came on screen. Makes sense now - also, they were voiced by Tigger.
He's actually a Siamese, which Siam is current day Thailand, but the fact they intended him to be Chinese made it even worse

OMG! This was so much fun. Back in the days before home video, they released this as an album and I was 7 years old and it was my favorite album. I love what you did with the swan sisters. The same women who did the voices for the swan sisters play the Pigeon Sisters in 1968 The Odd Couple.
I was so obsessed with movie when I was a kid that I forced my cousin to watch it with me and my sister every time she came over to babysit us. My cousin probably hates it because of that, but it will always hold a special place in my heart.

Aww, Midnight is such a cute name! Oh okay, I see now. I think because I’ve met guys of multiple races who act the way O’Mally does, I didn’t notice it was black stereotypes. I’m glad Disney addresses their mistakes instead of removing the scenes or movies. Makes for great learning opportunities.

I've always loved this movie, it doesn't get the credit it deserves. The racial issues with it were that Scat Cat and his Gang were all racial stereotypes. We had the Asian cat, the Italian cat, the Mexican cat, and the Russian cat. I loved those characters as a kid and I still do, but I can see the Yikes moments that they bring.
You should react to The Emperor's New Groove, it was hilarious. A little known gem.

I loved this film when i was little and still do. Though its really weird to listen to it in another langauge xD. Im getting used to watching old Disney classics in english, but there were alot of sentences that were different from what i know. Gues they changed that when they translated the film in my langauge ... like the "turn me on" part :).. or Thomas O'Malley's song etc.
When i was a little girl, i knew what Edgar did was bad. But watching it now.. I feel sooo bad for Madame... You steal the cats from an old lady, her baby's/ kids/friends, without them she is incredibly lonely. They are her everything. My heart really hurted for her during the film.
And its also straight up animal abuse. How dare you do that to those cats. ugh.

(The record thingy, whatever you call it, is inside a small old tv. So it would literally take me back to my youth).
Im from the Netherlands, so i listened to in Dutch. The fun part is that some voices sound almost the same as the english ones. Like Thomas O'Malley, its like it didnt change. Only the language. Pretty cool.

Fun fact....Baloo and Little John from Robin Hood have the same dance moves (and the same basic animation. Just one is brown and the other is grey). And I believe that Maid Marion might also have gotten her dance moves from Duchess in this movie.

This was one of those Disney VHS tapes I had that was a constant in my VCR as a kid.

This was my moive when I was a kid. I come from a family of 5. I'm the only girl and I have 2 little brothers(sound familiar🤔) my mom was definitely Dutchess. And my dad was and is still as slick and sweet talking as Thomas😂💕 my personal moto for life is Marie's line, "A lady does not start a fight, but they can finish them." I highly recommend you watch Disney's Robin Hood from 1973. This move and that one share a lot of the same voice actors. Like the voice actor for Thomas O'Malley voices Little John, the voice of the bloodhound also voices the sheriff, and the mouse voices Friar Tuck. I don't know if there are any others.

Which was the previous Disney film. 0:28 My cats named “Nala” This film was the last Disney Film Walter Disney Greenlit. 10:03 Aladdin Reference? I know this movie came out 22 years before Aladdin. Everybody wants to be a cat is straight bop. 1:36 MARIE IS SO SMALL AND CUTE!🥰 And a merchandise Princess. 2:07 I have manners. I feel like Duchess was a “Side-cat” cause Marie and her Brothers are All three different colors and I think they’re Half Siblings. 15:26-15:30 I hated that.

Edgar wasn't poisoning the cats but drugged them (though in real life, that many sleeping pills would indeed kill them) as he wasn't going to kill them (he was too careful because if he DID kill them, he'd be surely suspected of the crime as it would be obvious with him doing it when he found out about the inheritage, which would be put in jail).
I had this on dvd and watched it till my brother threw up witch is why it’s one of my faves ever like yessss

Tbh this is one of the only Disney classics I don't cringe at LOL I think the designs were super cute, and the old lady in the movie is not evil or ugly either, she's actually sweet and really pretty. Those two geese are totally adorable tho! My favorites, they're such *ICONS!*

This is a later "classic" Disney film... when the animation was starting to suffer due to budget cutbacks, and the use of a new Xerox process as a shortcut for the inking. Still good though, but a bit rougher around the edges.

As to my favorite Disney movie, The Great Mouse Detective. Though I watched this one a bit when I was young too. Now with a further look back on it I don't even have to look up the credits to tell that Duchess is one of the Gabor sisters, that Hungarian accent is unmistakable if you know it, especially with the "dahling" bit.
