FILM SYNOPSIS♡
The Grinch and his loyal dog, Max, live a solitary existence inside a cave on Mount Crumpet. His primary source of aggravation comes during Christmastime when his neighbours in Whoville celebrate the holidays with a bang. When the Whos decide to make Christmas bigger and brighter, the disgruntled Grinch realizes there is one way to gain peace and quiet. With help from Max, the green grump hatches a scheme to pose as Santa Claus, steal Christmas and silence the Whos' holiday cheer once and for all.

I’ve always thought that the reason the grinch’s lair in this version is a lot more ‘normal’ looking was bc this version of the grinch is supposed to be a bit more relatable than previous versions. he acts more like an everyday asshole rather than a cartoonishly disgusting beast.
even the interactions in this version are more relatable, like being annoyed with an overly friendly neighbor putting up huge obnoxious lights or being tired of the same Christmas songs playing on the radio.
This is definitely one of the better Illumination movies. Benedict Cumberbatch does a great job voicing the Grinch, and I especially love all the planning and set up done before the big heist.
Santa had eight. He looks like he ate the other seven.🤣

Illumination really outdid the visuals with this one. it's ofc a bit brighter then the original movie but I think that makes it so special :)

My brother and I theorized that the little boy running to his new parents at 8:02 is Bricklebaum. And that makes sense to why Bricklebaum considers him and Grinch friends, since they were in the orphanage together. And that explains why Grinch hates Bricklebaum cause he got himself a family and he didn't.

If you enjoyed The Grinch (2018) I highly recommend you watch _Horton Hears a Who (2008)_ and _The Lorax (2012)_ and the _Despicable Me_ films the latter two films being animated at Illumination which did the 2018 Grinch film.

I agree with all your comments on this movie…it just was to different for me from the other grinch movies. I also struggled finishing it which was disappointing. I didn’t like the modern and realistic take on the movie but that’s just my personal opinion. Definitely a one time watch. Happy New Year!!
