Wait if you spend a year breaking even aren’t you in the exact same spot you were at the beginning? How does a year of breaking even benefit you at all?
If you spend $300,000 building a triplex (3 homes that are connected) you rent them all out and at the end of a year you still owe $288,000. How is owning that benefiting the owner. Simply put, the knowledge, experience, relationships, and organizational skills you learn along the way from running a business pays off after time and effort has been put in.
Get your motor carrier number. Motor carriers are tax exempt. Your finance officer should know this and even if he doesn’t what ever state you are in call the secretary of states office and they will tell you what form to fill out. Should take you about 30 seconds to save seven grand.

@@claytonporter91 bite the bullet. You will not make any money leasing on. Do not lease on. I can’t say that loud enough. If you buy a new trailer over 26000gvwr you have to pay 12% FET (Federal excise tax) but if you can find a used one then you don’t. You still have to have IFTA and stuff if you are over 26000 total gcwr
So do you need to complete behind the wheel test hours to take the behind the wheel test at the dmv in cali to get your class A CDL because I already got my permit
Cali is crazy with the rules but im pretty sure ya. all you need to do once you have your CLP ( commercial learners permit) you just need to go to school then take the driving test and pretrial test at the DMV
You spent good money on a 43 +10 trailer with airbags why didn't you go with a fifth wheel hitch? They are supposed to be smother without all of the jerky movements.

What happened to the information about the one day class
School was going to get flooded. Now I only tell people that call me. But I can say google one day CDL. Have to be fair for the people that have called. If I find a bigger school I’ll definitely shout it out
What gears does the truck have and what kind of mpg are you getting?
@longhaul138 jeez. What mph are you traveling on hwy?
@longhaul138 assuming your deleted as well. Only way you’re getting that kinda gas mileage.
@longhaul138 what year ram?
Looking forward to knowing how not to pay taxes on new truck
How are you legally sleeping in the cab? Did you get a conversion kit that is DOT approved, or just marking off- duty? Im having a hard time figuring out what the rules are.
I have never had an officer come and knock on my window. With this CdL set up I am sleeping in hotels 75% of the time. I’m pretty much saying don’t get too hung up on all the rules. Do your best and make that money.
Please do the tour soon
Of the inside of the truck or the number what I made with it?
Nice truck
Thanks Carter
Nice looking truck.
Thanks PJCrow. I’ll keep it clean as long as possible but no promises
I’m looking to get into becoming a hotshot driver.
My only truck I could afford right now is my 2014 Silverado. Can you give me some advice? I’d appreciate it.
Make sure your truck, per manufacturer, allow truck to go up to 26k. My guess is that it only can haul about 23k, legally.
@@lifeontheroad_ thanks
Why you go with a ford over a dodge I’m thinking about going cdl from a non cdl I have a ram now will be looking for a 3500 or 5500
No reason really besides I have always driven a Ford. Both trucks will do the job. Just get it new and keep it running good.
Actually I’d be asking you the same question. Why did u possibly go with the Ram instead of the F550. Do ur homework. Does Ram even Own Ram. Or does Fiat/ and Cummins own them.
@@jeffponder3999 only reason I have a Ram because of the Cummins other wise the truck is trash
Great response. Dumbest question anyone could ask. Why a Ford over a Ram. Funny. Because Ford is self sufficient, and Jam/oops Ram is not.
Bro you are killing it cant wait to get all setup stay safe out 👍🏾
Thanks Clayton! It’s hard work… not the driving but the booking of loads and long hours and tarring and maintenance. But there is money out there. I can’t wait till you get set up too. Honestly I wish I started earlier so I could have had more money in my early twenties. Good luck too you and I hope to see you out one day.
Would you recommend leasing on with someone at first or just bite the bullet and pay for my own authority and insurance I'm still a little confused on getting loads and worried about setting cause I'll have a new authority
@@claytonporter91 bite the bullet. You will not make any money leasing on. Do not lease on. I can’t say that loud enough. Just do the 300$ paperwork buy insurance from biberk with no down payment besides the first month. Get a load board subscription and bite the bullet for a couple months. Or your want to eat a bullet
I appreciate your input man thank for responding stay safe out there and keep the videos coming very good info 👍🏾
How u get your cdl
Google one day CdL
Damn wish I’d have known about that sales tax!
Everybody does. Glad my brother heard about it somewhere. Motor carriers are exempt. Most dealerships don’t even know.
@@Babylionhotshot damn you live and you learn! What all have you done for your sleep situation? I took the hardcore approach to it with this truck.
Does getting a trailer over 25900 gvwr make a difference?
As far as compliance and ifta etc..
If you buy a new trailer over 26000gvwr you have to pay 12% FET (Federal excise tax) but if you can find a used one then you don’t. You still have to have IFTA and stuff if you are over 26000 total gcwr
Blake Arnold knows a thing or two!
@@Babylionhotshot diamond c just came out w a fmax 215. But sticker says 25.9k rating so no tax fee. That way u get 20k payload
What’s up with the school that chargers for the low
You spent good money on a 43 +10 trailer with airbags why didn't you go with a fifth wheel hitch? They are supposed to be smother without all of the jerky movements.
I may be mistaken but my research says in general goosenecks tend to be 3000 lb more capacity usually
is this business worth it ?and how can I get started
Nice truck - you should have watched Macc media before getting a bed less truck. If you are not towing it’s going to bounce around on you unfortunately
O yes I love watching Tim! I plan on only driving it when it’s hooked up to my trailer. I’m so happy a didn’t sell my f-250. The 550 without a trailer on it literally gives me a headache
I never thought I could imagine a less desirable looking truck. Ford really knows how to make some offensive looking vehicles
Your 550 made for payload, 450 made to tow brother. Look it up
Why do you call yourself baby lion?
In high school I had a buzz cut one time and my hair is the police kind when it’s short. So the kids started calling me baby Lion to make fun of me. But here we are years later and I look back at the name and I think it’s a compliment. Baby lions turn into Kings of the jungle.
do you sleep in your truck ?
