    Thing is that regular batteries are not meant to be discharged and recharge on a regular basis, but deep cycle ones are designed that way, so on the good side your starting batteries will a longer working life, and the deep cycle are meant to give you a longer use while the truck is not running to keep accessories working, like a cab heater. In my truck i have a set of deep cycles just to keep the heater and the smart air running. I have a full ten hours of running time on aux, having the two sets separate insures me that no matter what, the truck will always fire up after a prolonged parked time.
    That way i save on idling, and keep the dpf cleaner.

    I did something very similar but I ran the bedframe on the passenger side of the truck and used a full 6' memory foam cot mattress. I then put a fridge behind the driver seat with a table on top of it so I could sit on the bed and have a comfortable area to eat. I also had a diesel airtop heater under my bed with a spot for a crocpot. Everything ran off of a 125 amp hr battery that charged when I drove. All the framing was made out of steel that bolted into the factory seat locations.
    I am out of hotshot now but still have everything. I'd be willing to just give it away (the frames, not the fridge or heater) if anyone is interested..

    • @Mr.AlexKogan
      @Mr.AlexKogan  Рік тому

      Motive eld is what ai use. I believe they are the most popular company. DOT is easy to get through the state website and MC number will take about 30-45 days to get after you apply. Unfortunately you have to get commercial insurance prior to obtaining an MC number/authotity. They will not give it to you without it. So pretty much you’ll pay for a month of insurance and not even start working yet. It sucks but we all go through that.

    Alex, inspiring video man!. I am excited to follow you. I am working to set up our LLC Hotshot business. Currently in deep dive research. I have my DOT medical scheduled next week, then will begin forming our LLC, then DOT, banking, etc. A couple of questions. Can you further elaborate on the construction of the steel bed frame and how you mounted to the floor? I also did not follow how you mounted the seat bottoms. Do you use tools like Quickbooks to manage the financial component or just spreadsheets. I have drafted a pretty elaborate spreadsheet but looking for your advice.
    I am super excited to get out on the road and start learning and earning. I want to do it right so taking the time now to ensure I am prepared as possible. Like your perspective I see the truck as my office so I am going to get the best I can. Non CDL and just starting out I will pull a Big-Tex 28/5 with mega ramps with either a GMC or Dodge 1 ton. Did you pay cash for the truck?

    • @Mr.AlexKogan
      @Mr.AlexKogan  Рік тому +1

      No sir. If I had $100k cash to pay for the truck, I’d probably wouldn’t be doing this business. I put a good down payment and financed the rest.

    Would you do the bed delete or is it necessary?

    • @Mr.AlexKogan
      @Mr.AlexKogan  Рік тому

      I mostly see trucks that pull car hauler trailers without beds but I prefer to keep my bed. I think the truck looks nicer and you don’t have to add the necessary equipment like you do in trucks that come without beds. You’d have to weld metal plates to cover everything up, add wheel covers and etc. not worth getting rid of it.

    Is that sleeper legal? Will dot ask for a motel receipt?

    • @Mr.AlexKogan
      @Mr.AlexKogan  Рік тому

      For a single driver any sleeper is legal. It’s when you have a team then they regulate the type of sleepers you have. Dot will kit ask for motel receipt because we are not stopping at motels.

    is there a way to tell the high output engine?

    • @Mr.AlexKogan
      @Mr.AlexKogan  Рік тому

      Look under the hood. High output engine with Aisin transmission will have the transmission dipstick on the right of the engine and the standard engine with 68RFE transmission will have the transmission dipstick on the left side of the engine.
