first video I've found of the door room changing. always known how it works but never found video of it before. this ride is a masterpiece of simple tricks.
I’ve never understood how people go “that animatronic looks JUST like Harrison Ford!” I just can’t see it. Even when it’s moving, it looks like an actor they hired because he looks kiiiiinda like Ford. 🤷🏼♀️
And the boulder scene is amazing!!! I already knew how it worked, but it's incredible to actually see it demonstrated. Talk about movie magic coming to life around you.
It showed early in the video. The doors are on a track system in the ceiling. The doors and ceiling rotate, and you can go through different ones, but the track is the same. Each door is labelled with what it will guide you to, and provides slightly different lighting effects when you pass through it, but the ride has one track system and everything past Mara is exactly the same no matter which door you go through.
I went on Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye just a few months after it opened in 1995 with my family. I was scared of roller coasters back then. But now, it is one of the rides that we just have to go on every time that we visit.
*scream of fright* @ :32 ...Mara scares me. Seriously, I've had nightmares about that ride (particularly the first room with Mara) for years. I don't really know why. I guess I just have fearful respect for it. I'm a god-fearing person, and the god I fear is Mara. I love Indiana Jones Adventure and always will. It's my favorite ride at Disneyland!
@Kiwano8 Look behind you and you will for sure know you're not moving because the wall at the turn does not move. Or if you get front row, look over the hood of the car, you'll see the drop below you and the actual wall. And you'll see the cave wall just moves without the car actually moving. I never knew it either until I looked myself. I'm just not sure if the ball actually moves or if it just moves a little and the wall does most of the moving effect.
See how Devon Tennison as Cookie Mastereon Stifler Indiana Jones and Nayomi Rodriguez as Schmitty Stifler Marion are holding each other tight and their legs are moving.
Watch the video near the beginning. You enter the same door everytime. The hallway is lit differently for each of the three "entrances". There are 5 "doors" where the walls slide exposing only 3 at a time. For example, if X is a door you see but can't go into, an E is the entrance, and = is a hidden door: XXE== or =XEX= ==EXX
Check Wikipedia by Google-ing "Indiana Jones Ride" and find the section called Chamber of Destiny. Click on the picture and it's an animated GIF. Hope that helps.
Haha cool! I'm going in a few weeks and have been on this ride countless times I love this ride and always will. The first time I went on this ride was when I wuz 6 and when we entered the first room I'm thinking "what did I get myself into?!" but after riding it I was hooked! We went so many times in a row it took us 2 days until we wanted 2 ride it again. Lol!
RUNNING?! that thing breaks down a LOT but I still went on it I've been on it like 35 r 40 times. Great ride, whoever hasn't been on it at least once has a sad life.
We meet Devon Tennison as Cookie Masterson Stifler Indiana Jones and Nayomi Rodriguez as Schmitty Stifler Marion at the gates of Disaster Movie who look like legitimate people.
@amycallie123 They technically do have it at WDW in the form of Dinosaur, which has a track and vehicle which are exactly the same. The only differences are the scenery/effects.
Can someone please explain to me this. You know when u first go in the ride. You see which door it will open too. How are all 3 doors leading the same way. Like I once went to door 2 and I went on the ride again to door 1 and it lead the same way to the creepy looking talking thing...
Walls move. This effect isn't on anymore, but there is actually 1 working door and 4 fake doors. The walls move back and forth so that the real door (which is always the same one) either appears with 1 fake door on either side or 2 fake doors on one side, giving the illusion that the door you're going through is different each time.
Awesome! Now that Disney owns the rights to Lucasfilm, I bet they will have big plans for future Star Wars and Indiana Jones stuff. Like maybe building a replica of this ride in Orlando.
1:04 please don't use the term panic attack so lightly. I suffer from an intense anxiety disorder and know the actual pain and seriousness of panic attacks far to well, and do not appreciate this usage of the word. Everyone please keep that in mind as you go through life. If you have never had a panic attack, be thankful and don't use that term to describe a disneyland ride. Thank you.
my friend who was 19yrs old had never been to disneyland when we went on this ride he almost peed his pants he thought the rolling ball was real he started screaming and we told him it wasnt....i cant believe he never even saw the(indiana jones) movies 8o
being able to walk through like that.... that would be a dream come true

I've been looking for a video that shows the ball rolling effect! So cool
I haven't been to DL since 96 (too damn expensive and I aint got kids) but that effect always impressed me.
No way! I had no idea you weren't actually moving backwards during the boulder part!
Same here, I just learned that today after being a huge Disneyland weird stats know it all for years lmao.
Now the Disney magic is ruined and will all know we're not moving lol jk

Cool! This ride is retro and fast.
WOW! I never knew that you weren't moving, it's the room! Thanks for the upload!

I love working on this ride after hours. Of course all the rides are amazing behind the scenes.
Do they still do the everynight thing? Where they clean up?
jordan rausch Yeah, all ride vehicle maintenance, show effects, and janitorial has to be done during the parks closed hours.
bye130 awesome thanks
wow, that's awesome! I never knew that we weren't moving backwards at all! How cool!

im curious if you still have this footage but in higher quality

when i went on this last, it broke down and we got to walk through a little bit of it and touch props. it was soooo cool!!!!

the indy animatronic looked like a crazed/drunk maniac
@JetHawk I don't think that the ball moves accept for spinning to help with the effect for when the wall moves
RUNNING?! that thing breaks down a LOT but I still went on it I've been on it like 35 r 40 times. Great ride, whoever hasn't been on it at least once has a sad life.
Does anyone know what the "jeep" is called?
We meet Devon Tennison as Cookie Masterson Stifler Indiana Jones and Nayomi Rodriguez as Schmitty Stifler Marion at the gates of Disaster Movie who look like legitimate people.
does anyone have the rest of this 5 part news story?
I still don't get the "Chamber of Destiny". I've seen there's only 1 track but sometimes you go other ways than straight
@Kiwano8 the whole floor doesnt move, only the walls
@amycallie123 They technically do have it at WDW in the form of Dinosaur, which has a track and vehicle which are exactly the same. The only differences are the scenery/effects.
@Kiwano8 they do at the one in tokyo. I think it's in tokyo

Anyone notice the Mickey Mouse ears on the skull at 0:49?
Kiwano8 i dont think the floor is moving jus the cave around them
Well the track doesn't....the walls move.
The rights for Indiana Jones stay with Paramount, so no Indy projects in sight
I wish it didn't break down so often.
144p wtf... This is not 2006 XD
+The Founder But it was uploaded in 2008
I got proved D:
hahaha realistic? they changed that animatronic to a better one, to make it mroe real. haha
