    Maybe someday Ubisoft will release a side by side, split screen video of the scenes as they were filmed, with the computer animated game version next to it. They captured my performance almost exactly.

      Sparier Caribou They may not be all that good but i do not blame the main character and the people. How should they know what Joseph and his family went through plus it is wrong to fight ones past by treating others like you were treated. The people in the village had their family also taken by Joseph and his followers. I do understand Joseph`s and the peoples view. It is kinda the same. The reason why Joseph and his cult are worse is they started with all of this. I think this story is also about the faith of people. If Joseph and the others would approach Hope Coutny different with a peaceful way to explain their plan, the world would not ebel but the Seeds used mad rituals and insane things to force the people to join them so it is obvious everyone wanted to destroy them.
      I would say the truth was that they reflected what society did. I did not hate Joseph but i found him strange and hard to comprehend until those special scenes where he mourned his family but also where he explained what governments do. I knew that deep down he wished for peace only. His family was growing up in absue and Joseph probably as the child in the middle kinda was affected by the environment. What people did to the Seeds was reflected on innocent people of Hope Coutny who did not have anything to do with it.
      I come to the conclusion that Joseph`s goal is something i support but the way how he wants to achieve that is fucked up so i would go against him. Someone who really desires peace would not choke someone to death because they do not want to be converted.
      I noticed when Faith said "you made your choice" well the irony is that Joseph losing his family and not dying is his punishement. Joseph Seed made his decision and so actually God punished him. Joseph was the nleader but he never really damaged people too much unlike John, Jacob and Faith so i assumed he will not die. The death of his family is his own fault for going against innocent.
      Far Cry 5 is fictional but is inspired by reality. In reality there are also people that are extremely devoted and use extreme methods to convert others. They talk about everyone as sinners but the truth they commit worse sins themselves.
      In the end Joseph Seed is totally contradicting himself in my opinion at least.

      Fuck the whole religious bit for a second. I think the whole point of this storyline is to make you doubt. We started off thinking Joseph was a disgusting piece of shit and he definetly was, but when we reach the end, meaning Joseph's booger scene, by that time, we are mass murderes ourselves. Except mass murder, what have we accomplished? Was it worth it? Because we still haven't changed the cult's mind. We haven't stopped or changed Joseph's mind. Same goes for Joseph. There is still a resistance against him, no matter how many people he's killed, tortured or starved. By the end of the game, the player and Joseph aren't really that different as far as I am concerned. Our goals are totally opposite, but our methods have proven similar.

      How many more times do we have to hear that vengeance is pointless? How many more times do YOU have to hear it, for you to understand that it is pointless? The people that have exacted vengeance usually cry out in misery that they still feel the same pain as when they're loved one was taken from them. Killing the killer doesn't make things better. Your loved one is still gone. You won't get them back. And all you've done now, is spread pain in their name. Is that what they would've wanted?

    • @memecliparchives2254
      @memecliparchives2254 6 років тому +31

      JefErickson Yet we've become a monster, But the people we save are worth saving and they don't see us monsters. You're right about we're all the same because they also wanted to save people. But they are the ones who took it to the extreme themselves. If we took ourselves to the extreme, then it is their fault. If they want to prepare for the apocalypse and people won't listen to them, why not save themselves? I know they have been through bad shit all of them, yet they burned homes, killed innocents, NO I meant SLAUGHTER INNOCENTS for their damn cult. They're insane.

    • @memecliparchives2254
      @memecliparchives2254 6 років тому +8

      JefErickson You're right, the killed won't be alive and we won't feel better after. Yet but by murdering murderers like the Peggies, there is a bright hope and good chance that it would be a brand new peaceful life the residents of Hope County could experience as the Peggies won't harm other innocents anymore and never again.

    • @7GamesUnlimited7
      @7GamesUnlimited7 6 років тому +46

      JakeTheGreat first of all it would be better to cut the insults if you want to have a proper discussion. Now did you know that he was the good guy before or after he killed a man in the BEGGINING OF THE GAME. Thats what far cry does they make sympathetic villains that are still evil and dont you dare tell me that he was the good guy all along did you even play the game? Look at pagan min in far cry 4 he turns out to be less of a bad guy than the so called heroes now does that make him a good guy? Of course not he still tortured and killed people. Hell if you dont count the guy at the beggining or you claim that it was his fault for being a traitor joseph was a killer way before the cult was a thing since you know he killed his daughter because "god" ordered him to do so. Theres also a theory that he was the one that set off the nukes but since its not confirmed im not gonna bring that into the argument. So go ahead tell me how was he the good guy?

    • @jakacky
      @jakacky 6 років тому +9

      7GamesUnlimited7 the guy was still alive in the begging bro, you can see him moving, Also I'll admit him killing his daughter was fucked up. Another thing is his family members were the actual fucked up ones, Joseph even condemned them saying they were taking it too far. Remember the scene were John was about to drown you but Joseph told him that's not the by killing? He tried to tell his family how to do it but THEY took it to far.
      Now, put yourself in his shoes. If somebody killed your only family left would you offer forgiveness and offer them one more chance? He could have easily killed your friends. But he didn't, if you look at it he is probably the most least villain than any other Farcry

    In my opinion, John was the closest to Joseph he wanted to be him and Idolized him. He even looks like Joseph and tries to preach like him.
    Jacob was a traumatized war veteran who fought against his parents and government, and after those fights he wanted to believe in something he felt he had no purpose and Joseph gave it to him.
    Faith was a recovering drug addict who wanted to die but later was taken in by Joseph and gave her a home and something to believe in.
    Ubisoft really stepped their game up

      The Father takes the throne but Vaas is really believable too. He talks like a real nihilistic fatalist maniac. His most famous quote of "madness" is what a crazy histrionic motherfucker irl would say. I actually met an ex-con who expressed himself the same way Vaas does. Hoyt is also believable. The only one that doesn't feels that real to me is Pagan Min.

      And people follow him because he's strong, and they can fulfill their selfish desires if they follow him.

    This is why Farcry 5 is so incredible to me, the realism.
    This is the most realistic crying I've heard in a game for a long time, it shows real distress which is honestly even more amazing considering most games like Farcry 5 wouldn't want to show their main villian in such a weak compromising position.
    The genuine sounding crying and distraught wails send chills down my spine and make me feel a bit sorry for Joseph, that's how realistic it is, it was realistic enough for me to feel sorry for what I've done to the main antagonist who put me through extreme hell, I didn't see Joseph as just a game character in this moment, it was such good acting that I saw him as a person.

If u look inside the bunkers that the bosses are in you can see that they are missile silos but the missiles are missing, I think Joseph buried those missiles around the map and detonated them when he lost to rook. This is why the missiles don’t go off if you decide to leave at the end of the game he left them there as a last resort to defeat rook.

      Update: Shortly after publication, a Ubisoft rep reached out with a correction on the ending.
      “Wanted to clarify that in reality, the ending has been hiding in plain sight. Joseph Seed continually says that the end of the world is approaching. The radio news broadcasts hint of a larger problem unraveling outside of Hope County as the game unfolds, like increasing tensions and a world in chaos, stating that nuclear war seems imminent.”

    God that acting is so amazingly done. How can the "bad guy" seem so compelling? Joseph is easily one of the most human villains in any video game due to how he and his family became what they were through their shared experience of suffering. He's not some cackling maniac fantasizing about torturing others. He isn't some smug CEO stroking a cat and twirling his beard. He's just as broken as the player is in a way.
    Also the fact that throughout the entire game, he never speaks with hatred towards you, it truly reminds me of an apostle from the Bible named Stephen who was cruelly stoned to death for his faith. I recall that Joseph would say: "Forgive them father for they do not know what they've done." Name one villain that speaks in defense of his own enemy AS they're fighting him?
    Maybe this is exactly the intention though, making you the player feel compelled and moved by Joseph's charisma just like the rest of the cult...

    The fact that any of us begin to feel sorrow for Joseph watching the eulogies shows just how great of a performance Greg Byrk did to bring this monster to life. Few characters in gaming really ever bring out your humanity and yet despite being pure evil, we still for some reason feel sorry for the guy. I think the character of Joseph Seed is going to be the standard for video game villains for many years to come.

    I honestly felt like the deputy was in the wrong the whole game, every encounter I had with the main antagonists I felt a sense of sorrow, they were all in terrible events that shaped who they were (John getting molested and abused as a kid, Jacob starving to near death in the desert and then resorting to eating his friend, Faith being ostracized by her community and abused by her parents so she resorts to being a herion addict, and Joseph having his wife die in a car accident); Even though they had big flaws in themselves, I wanted to help them because of the things that they went through. They didn't deserve what happened to them, and who am I to say or the resistance in that matter that we were the good guys? Because the deputy killed hundreds of Eden's Gate members yet is called a hero, by being so aggressive the deputy made things so much worse, if there was a more passive stance on taking in the Seed family and a negotiation as well then the whole confrontation and all the killing could have been avoided

      I kinda disagree with that. But again I do. You see, The Deputy needs Joseph to surrender, and be arrested for all those he and the Cult had killed, because they means they were sinners. If the target won't surrender the first time, then you need to force him to surrender. Killing the Cult was nothing I would feel guilt for, not the same way i did when killing Royal Army and Guards in Far Cry 4.

      @Nekavandre 6 років тому +36

      Video Game Sophistry Well truly he was correct about the collapse... he just could gone about it in a less evil way. I understand his aggression was to save as many as he could regardless if they wanted to join the project or not over the years but damn he and his followers went about it cruelly. But with that said he does love his followers, his siblings, forgiving, merciful, and is a man of his word. Although unfortunately his vision of the collapse seems to rely entirely on if handcuffs go around his wrist after a certain amount of time when the U.S. Government finally decides to notice and take action against the the cult so they can commence “The Culling” at which point if you play through normally and arrest him at the end his vision and reasoning for the project and his actions proves very fucking true. But with that said if you do not arrest him and give him reason to commence “The Culling” at the start or end of the game then you will just hear how the world is going to shit outside the U.S. via in game radios and papers but otherwise nothing will happen giving the cult and project more time to grow, expand, and prepare. The man himself though while meaning well to save everyone is obviously a little unhinged with ya know drowning the Priest daughter in a river while baptizing her because he had a flashback, trying to kill the priest because he wanted his flock, ignoring the bad that members of his cult are doing to innocents, random sudden angry mood swings, no fear of death, killing his own newborn daughter because voices told him to do it, and the list goes on. Also I’m pretty sure he has very very light supernatural powers no joke because of the bliss, Ubiverse, and other small things that happen during the game that I try to give reason to outside of “Its just a video game”.

      He's crazy but I don't think he's power hungry, at least not compared to his siblings. I think in his own fucked up way he genuinely believes what they're doing are all necessary evils to save as many lives as possible for the upcoming apocalypse
      I don't think he's not a prophet though. If you pay attention to the side missions, radio, etc. you'll learn that there is already a world war going on that has escalated to the point of being nuclear (Hope County is too preoccupied with the Peggie invasion to really prep themselves for it.) He's literally just a dude who pays attention to the news. I don't think he actually predicted any of his siblings' deaths either. He just knew what they were doing would backfire on them eventually and all it would take was one wronged person to make the dominos fall.
      That being said, I don't know if he actually feels bad about the suffering he's causing. Is he too broken from a shitty life (broken home, dead wife, killing his disabled child) or is he a schizophrenic whose illness has gone unchecked for far too long?

Seeing the almost menacing and nearly emotionless leader breaking down like this mainly because he loves and cares for his family, it’s both surprising and so incredibly sad.

It really is a tragic story, no matter the outcome.

      Father is special to me, because every other villain I can think of either enjoys what they do, or at least does not seem to mind. Father is different. He's a...reluctant villain. You can tell he's tortured inside. He does not enjoy cruelty. To me, that makes him just as ground-breaking as Heath Ledger's Joker. What made Joker so unique is that he had no instinct for self-preservation. What makes Father so unique is he takes no joy in what he does. He has no desire for vengeance (at least that he acts on), no sadistic streak. It's just his intellect leads him to rationalize these things.
      Maybe part of the reason I sympathize so much is because I've suffered with severe scrupulosity for most of my life, and its brought me very close to acting out some crazy ideas.

      John does say in one scene that he "opened every hole in his body"... chillingly hinting at repeated sexual abuse, and possibly the sexually promiscuous lifestyle adopted by some victims of rape as a coping mechanism (an attempt to re-assert the control of their sexuality that was taken from them by becoming hyper-sexual.)

      It actually shows that Jacob is the most mentally strong of the brothers, as Joseph says "He fought our parents" implying that he tried to start a resistance towards the Seed Parents. Maybe he even killed them, I kinda hope so.

    The bit where he talks about John made me cry a lil bit cos I can feel for him as I am an older brother to an absolute nutter of a boy and I know how I'd feel if anyone were to ever hurt him and when he says he's gonna punish those responsible for his death and then looks at the camera I felt disgusted of myself for doing the thing I'd hate most to another guy... Ironic how my names Joseph aswell like heck might as well start a cult by this point he's so relatable from a brothers point of view lol

    When you see snot dribbling out the nose, you know the devs put heart and soul into the character. Far Cry villians never fail to disappoint, and I'll be excited to see Anton Castillo in Far Cry 6.

    • @ReiSyre62

      So now what's your opinion on him since FC6 is here?

    • @jacksonflynn179
      @jacksonflynn179 3 роки тому +1

      @@ReiSyre62 I think Anton Castillo is a well-thought out villian. He's not crazy and composes himself like Hoyt Volker, he has a clear vision like the Seed family and Pagan Min for how he wants to view the world and control his kingdom, and he's also sadistic and unfeeling like Vaas. Is he better then Vaas? Probably not. But he's still up there with Vaas and above the Seed family when it comes to the best written far cry villians. Also I love Giancarlo Esposito so I may be a bit biased, but he's still a great villian.

      I just wish the story was better though out yes anton is a great villain, but what is a great without a good story to back it up you know? I know you may disagree with me but it’s my opinion and i will respect yours.

      That's a good order. It feels the most correct storywise. Faith's region feels the most...aged. Like its hard to imagine there could be bliss clouds and angel zombies everywhere the day after Joseph's Seed's bungled arrest. Jacob's region also feels like things have been happening for a while since White Tails have been captured and brainwashed and Pratt has become Jacob's bitch. I think there's a reason Dutch suggests you start with John's region.

    Eulogy for Random Brother #123:
    We are gathered here today to honor one of our forgotten brothers. A man who gave up his name and devoted his life, his whole being, to keeping our flock safe
    While his death saddens us all it was kind of funny watching him get swatted by that helicopter rotar as it was crashing to the Earth
