  • Pleasant's Peak is a fantastic 4000' peak in the northern part of the Santa Ana Mountains. From the peak there are two epic descents which provide over 2000' vertical drop. These routes both follow distinct and exposed ridge lines. The one north, Main Street, brings you into the Corona side of the range and the one south drops you into Ladd Canyon and eventually Silverado. This south ridge is known by many as Smashface. The true original name is Smashmouth, named so because one of the members on the first descent smashed their mouth on their approach to the descent. He was bleeding profusely and resorted to taping his mouth to stop the bleeding, or so the story goes.
This was my third time doing this trail, the first being on a gravel bike blind solo where I walked most of the trail and the second being a couple years ago. This was Blaine's first time down.
The true crux of the trail is not shown in the video. It is incredibly steep and so we both walked it. More like slid down it, its that steep.
Please note that this is not a sanctioned trail and crosses into private property. It is maintained only by locals, is heavily overgrown with PO at the moment and the crux is way beyond most people's skill level. If you attempt this trail tread lightly. Proceed with caution and respect, as an accident could require a rescue which would put not only rescuers and yourself in danger but also potentially jeopardize the use of this trail.
