I’m a woman who has had to deal with creeps, lechers and all kinds of predatory men since I was a teen. It’s happened too many times to count. And never once have I ever thought that not having any single men at a wedding would make me feel safe. Why? Because 1, I know that not every single man in the world is a sexual predator. And 2, there are also men who are married, engaged or otherwise in a relationship that are sexual predators or worse. Now, had any of the single men she refused to invite had a history of being a sexual predator, then yes, they shouldn’t be invited. But then the question would be, if they had a history of that, why would she have remained friends with them. Also, a sexual predator that is single will remain one when he’s married. And a married man who isn’t a sexual predator, most likely wasn’t one when he was single. Her argument has more holes than a sieve. The correct compromise would have been having security in case a problem arose, and having bartenders who know when someone needs to be cut off. Her decision to ban all single men because they may make the women feel unsafe was an extremely stupid and prejudiced thing to do. I don’t blame her male friends for dropping her and her toxic beliefs.
