I have genetic disorders that mean it'd probably be a bad idea not only for my own health(especially as I also have mental disorders...one of which despite what studies say has *never* skipped a generation in the family that I likely couldn't stay on meds for and just...Bad Idea) but it'd be a 50/50 chance if the kid inherited the disorder and while my brother has some signs but is mostly fine Mom, who we inherited it from, and I are badly disabled. I'd wanted to have a kid of my own(that I birthed although if I was in the situation I would not turn down adoption or the like) since I was a little girl so recognizing this was a devestating moment. Even now it sometimes hurts despite it being years since I first realized this. Sure maybe it'd hurt sometimes because feelings are like that but I would never try to tell someone, especially family!, they couldn't have a baby because I shouldn't! Just absolutely horrible.

When I read a story like this, I can't help but pray that it's made up and not real. While my family had no angels, I can't even comprehend this level of toxicity (is that even a word?). Sure we had fights and said mean things to each other, and had periods of time when some siblings wouldn't talk to each other, but in the end, we're still family, and would help each of if really needed.
