  • We take our new Logosol F2 sawmill out on a remote milling adventure.
    We had taken these trees down at an island cottage property the month before to make way for a solar installation.
    We produced a variety of lumber including 3" thick slabs for benches and tables, 1" thick boards for siding, live edge bevel siding and 4 x 4 posts.
    The F2 (logs up to 20") can be found at:
    www.logosol.ca/store/en/sawmil...
    The F2+ can handle logs up to 27.5":

    That exit scene is probably the best I've ever seen 🤣 and I watch a lot of UA-cam videos!
    My logosol is in the mail and I ordered a husky 395xp to take care of about 3 acres of downed trees at our Adirondack land! Watching you guys work is inspiring!

    I've just bought a used m7 mill, and watching your videos has been really useful. I realize the m2 is a bit newer with some improvements, but not too different. Looking forward to making some nice boards, more efficiently than with my Alaskan mill!

    You are such a great team. I was really torn between a bandsaw mill and a chainsaw mill. After watching your video, it seems the Logosol Mill is going to be the winner. What really sold me is the weight and being able to take it to a remote site to do the job. Thank you very much for this presentation.

    Hi, really great watching you two work together. I wanted to share with you, that the 6 meter mill (19’) is a bit more complicated to level and considerably less portable. But it does just extend off of the base unit.

    I have a Logosol myself and the quality of the lumber is fantastic (straight, smooth cut,..). Since I don't have any way of moving my logs, I have to carry the mill to the log. If you put a strong chainsaw (e.g. Stihl 880 Magnum) on it, you can even get some decent production in softwood! And with the way lumber prices are going right now.. Not counting your time, you will have the money back pretty quickly!

    Howdy- Enjoyed the video; especially the trek getting to the remote, island building site. Could use a little help finding one of the implements you used to lift the logs, one end at a time. It looked like a pickeroon with a hand crank winch attached. Thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction.

    Thank you for this video I am still at a crossroads between this Logosol mill ,or a Bandsaw Logosol mill. Having done big Red and White Oak, and Southern White and Yellow Pine using a Grandberg Alaska mill. When using a Chainsaw the kerf is bigger . I plan on either using my Stihl 661 for felling and milling, or I might just buy a Stihl 881 just for milling only. Which saw and bar length did you use on your Stihl?

    Great video Do you recommend the water cooler? And the bar support? Subscribed

    • @lureofthenorth
      @lureofthenorth  3 роки тому

      The bar nose support, definitely. To me it feels mandatory. The water cooler I don't always use, and with all the dust flying about the hose does get clogged from time to time. I think it's usually worthwhile though and probably helps the bar and chain last longer.

      Our configuration can handle 12' logs, but you can add additional sections to handle 16' or 20' logs. Actually I think you can just keep adding additional sections to go as long as you need.
