No one's buying these but old people for way to much money. These guys will be in for a surprise. My generation isn't buying these cars and we won't for that price. The only people I know with classics bought them in the 90s for nothing. Other then that not one of my friends has a classics even though we all love cars. It's never going to happen.
That level of organization of the really old stuff is fairly recent. Been going there for many years, and they did a huge reorganization of the south side a few years ago. Love the place. I have bought many, many parts from them to keep my old beaters going.
went with my dad as a teen he liked 65-69 corvairs and my mom had a 64 Malibu , 15 yrs old cars ton in the wrecking yards on west coast [ non beach cars had no rust] ... now its all in a catalogue but the hunt is one for org body panels nos parts no made in china on my cars
Watching from the State of Rhode Island-as a car enthusiast-much applause to the Reinerts for appreciating and helping to maintain the car hobby-a fun, interesting pursuit-that can also-drive you around-Peace all!
Thanks because cars they're one of our family. True for a lot of folks who collect play with them on them or just look at them fondly. The people I really appreciate are those who looking at these old cars and saying I could fix it and maybe they will. At least some people are still planning to do this
YES! Thank you thank you thank you! It so breaks my heart to see cool old cars just get crushed.... I think that one day they're going to be worth money just as collectable yard art. Now wouldn't that be a cool thing...
I love the classics, regardless of make. I get that modern stuff is a mostly easy answer to getting from A to Z. But all the sensors and technology they are cramming in to cars nowadays is what will guarantee that cars are disposable not fixable. Tracing faults in electronics is time consuming and expensive. When my 68 Fairmont starts to run a little ratty, I pop the dizzy cap off, drag the points file through the points a little and it runs perfect for another thousand miles. I don't need big horsepower to go fast, or Bluetooth or curtain air bags and electronic gizmo's, I smile every mile with some music and a great exhaust note. LOVE the 60s classics.
That is a memory only a few can still share. Saturday morning with Dad looking for that handle or body part while exploring other vehicles. We played and dreamed of one time owning one of these junkers.
In the east the junk yards here stacked the cars sometimes 5 high . In those days ( late 1900's) if you wanted a part you would have to climb up to the car and wrench the part off yourself .
I was there about 30 years ago, and the guy in front of me in line was getting ready to pay. The old man behind the counter was like that will be $30.00 and the guy was like you said it was $20.00, then the old man said now it's $40.00 the guy said well you can keep it and stormed off. I get up there with a wonder bar radio and the guy is like that's $50.00 even though he said on the phone $40.00, I said ok $50.00 it is, and I walked out with $100.00 radio.....true story!!! That guys is probably long dead......lets not forget about Windy Hills either!!!! French lake always had the good stuff, but always knew what it was worth.....Windy Hills was pretty well picked through at that was 33 years ago!!!!
I can picture a half cigar unlit hanging out of his mouth that somehow never falls out when he goes back & forth with customers. Gravely voice. Suspenders.
Thanks for keeping the old cars around I've personally have 8 now .The last purchase was a 42 Buick Special straight 8 with 2 barrel carbs .But the rear carb was ruined by some type of critter that used it for it's home so I need a carb .If you have one please let me know. Thanks again
Cash For Clunkers took a predicted toll on second hand car parts. I needed a wiper motor for an 88 Toyota, and was told there were only two left in the country. A friend had to abandon using his high mileage mercury simply for the inability to locate a computer module. These people are helping the environment by operating this yard
Truly a great setup. Wish more businesses that had junkyards had this mentality. I've been to some really bad junkyards in Pennsylvania and Maryland that had people working for them that were just plain ignorant and hateful not to mention that they didn't care about what they scrapped. Wish we had a junkyard like this in our area.
Awesome salvage yard. Yes please don't turn any of these cars into scrap metal. Glad I caught this on my feed. I now have another yard to search for the parts I need. Hope this yard stays in business for years to come.
How do they keep the weeds down? Every junk yard I go to has a jungle growing around the car and is full of wasp nests and spiders. Nice layout wish I lived closer.
I live in the twin cities and I'd love to visit this sometime, it's a shame they're only open during my working hours so I can never really make time to go
I have been there a few times. I will say, it is very organized and after they pull the info in their computer, you can literally walk right to the car.
We used to have a junkyard like this in my town. Not as many cars, and not as organized, but the owner knew everything that was there and would walk you out to the car(s) that might have your parts. He got old and finally retired, and the person who bought the junkyard promptly shut the place down for "liability reasons" and crushed _everything_ for scrap. There were a lot of unhappy classic car owners in the area...
Minnesota weather is not friendly to outdoor storage of anything not just because of the rust it’s just a matter of time until a tornado lands on that land
😂😂😂😂😂, my mobile home has been in the same place in central Florida since 84 ,and other mobile homes a lot older. And no hurricane hit this county on record. So just exactly would the chances be of a tornado hitting that place????? 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Dad did a big tour of the mid-west in the early eighties, as all the old car dumps were closing down, the iron going for rebar (either Portland or overseas). It was the end of an era, and ALSO the end of huge inventories of old iron. Environmental regulations coming in, iron prices good, and guys my dad's age retiring!!! End of an Era. You used to be able to drive for miles on some highways and see miles and miles of junk cars. Not any more.
If I coulda, I would sent my '96 Fleetwood THERE!!! Although my insurance totaled it, the front end wasn't damaged, only rear left side. Ins. said parts were hard to find thus..but engine still purred..only 148k..lotta good parts, but some lucky guy (or GAL!) got a Great 5.7...😢😥😭😭😭
I'm surprised the county hasn't told them to get rid of them or put a fence around them yet.....that's what most of them do, God forbid you got junk sitting out for people to see

Fantastic I’m so glad for them. I only wish I could travel there to walk down memory lane and buy a few trinkets to bring home.
You're providing a great service helping what still exists or will be restored still available to be enjoyed by owners and those viewing.
Ive been going there since I was a kid. Lots of great finds out there.
Good memories as a kid wandering around that place with my grandfather years ago.

I think I bought a set of door glass for my Barracuda from them years back... Good people!!! .... Also I need parts for a '60 Ford Fairlane. 😁

How do they keep the weeds and trees from growing up around thousands of car?
Some junkyards use herds of sheep to keep the grass cut down. Maybe they do that.
They should restore some of those cars.
