THANK YOU!!!
You're welcome!
Thanks for this, I have the same cover and this was the only video I could find that showed how to properly remove the cover.
Excellent,
Thank you😊
this was amazing - this 65 yr old widow was able to DIY this and I feel like Wonder Woman. Just needed some guidance! You rock!
Later revisions of this LED module used screws to secure the green boards. Opening the module was the hard part.
Thank you.
You’re welcome 😊
This was the only video i could find that shows how to remove the lens cover that doesn't have a screw. Even with your instructions it was super hard and inconvenient to do. I agree with others here, Whirlpool should be ashamed of themselves for making a light change so difficult, just looking for $$$for service calls or extended warranty
I think you’re right Bob😊
I bought a replacement from Amazon, and like someone else commented. Be prepared to replace it a few months later. Fortunately it only takes a few minutes to do it, and its under 20 dollars. Great video. You're helping a lot of people. I'm finding now I ahould have just bought the Factory Whirlpool part for 90 dollars.

Glad it helped Daniel😊
thanks for this...the old now was a little hard to get out but the replacement went in super easy...save me $250 for a service call
Great job Mike,
It’s always good to save over $250.
Great video. Really helpful. For me I had to go in with a butter knife from the front and press the tab up and away. Whirlpool should be ashamed of themselves for designing it this way. There's no reason this could not be mounted with a 4 screws.
So true😊
But the original module then. Doesn't make sense to keep.buying the crappy china led board
@@frugalfreddy81 The board I got from Amazon (probably from China) is working fine. The problem is the difficulty to replace it.
That’s the best tutorial for my model of fridge in here. Thank you 🙏

Thank you for the video is very informative and to the point. I too cleaned the LEDs lights using a q tip and alcohol and they are bright again.
That is excellent,
Thank you 😊😊😊
@rubenlaredo did you mean clean the LEDs themselves or the connector?

Wonderful! Thanks so much!! I will look at it again when I actually get the part and try to replace it .
You’re welcome 😊
I have frig model WRX735SDHZ03 and the module you have looks very similar to the one I just ordered PN WPL W11527432. Lots of Chinese replacement parts out there and China is having issues with QA/QC, so good to know to keep on looking if not Whirlpool sourced. Amazon just takes you to substitutes as the preferred items. Thank you very much! Less likely I will break the thing trying to put it in with the help you provided.
Nice job Stephen👍😊
I have wrx735sdhz03 as well. LMK where you purchased? and whether you purchased the whole unit, or just the light strips/boards/modules?
Mine has a screw in the back, but I ordered from Parts Dr. the one that like yours. I guess it's the new model. 5 minute install. Thanks for the video instruction. I would have been lost without it.
I opted to replace the boards only for less than $25. Thanks for the "how to"!
Nice job Tim😊

Thanks Alexandria,
You can do it.👍
Just used this to replace my led assembly. Great video! Thank you!!
Awesome,
Thanks Chuck😊
Thanks for this. New subscriber now. A regular silverware knife on the front right and left corners popped it off. It takes some force. I
didn't want to bust it, but it was breaking my will. The fridge plastic held up fine for me. Good luck! Sacrifice the knife if needed. Replacement led strips on Amaz for 10 bucks worked fine so far. This is not a very consumer friendly design by Whirlpool.
Side note....anyone else experience the incredibly loud ice maker pump or motor?
Nicely done 👍😊
Changed the led board - $9.56 ! The hardest part was getting it down
Nice job😊
Where do you get it?
Thanks, I wiped the led that was out and it started to flicker instead of being dim... I used a paper towel thinking maybe condensation was the issue... Anyway, after wiping down all less with a paper towel, the light works fine for now.
Wow,
Great idea David😊
OH THANK YOU! I just wiped the LEDS down after removing the cover and it flickered and started working again too! Saved me the trouble of disassembling and ordering a new part. I noticed just 1 LED was out and i rubbed it with a paper towel and all of them got brighter and looked like new. So I recommend trying that first before ordering a new part if it dims.
Worked for me also@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel
This was very helpful, thank you!
You’re very welcome 👍😊
THANK YOU!!!...finally got the lens cover off. I got away...once I touched the darkened bulb...came right back on and all other came back BRIGHT..Got AWAY!!!
Thanks Roger😊
Very helpful thank you 😅

Thank you
You’re welcome 👍
got'er done, thanks for the video, I would have been afraid to touch it.
Glad I could help👍😊
TY! I got mine replaced with your help!
Our lights started flickering a little and then the flickering got really bad to the point you couldn't look at it. Then it all was out but one dim light. Does it sound like this video is also the solution for what my husband needs to do? Replace the two green strips only? I ordered some but they look like knock offs. only $19. And does this apply to the Whirlpool French door with drawer? Model WRX735SDBM04
Those green strips will work.
Might be better to order the whole thing 👍
My man!!! So helpful. Appreciate it. I haven’t taken mine out yet, do you have the individual led bulb #’s instead of replacing entire module?
Please let us know how it works👍
what is your model fridge? I have WRX735SDHZ03 and your part number is different. My LED is. W11043011.
It's confusing which way the head of a screwdriver goes. First you show that it goes to the left (inward), but in the final motion it seems to go to the right (outward), which would be more logical given the shape of the clip. Please clarify. It would be helpful to see the hole on the top to which the clip goes. Thanks.
I had to use a flathead screwdriver to pry open the sides of the light shield. Once I did that I just touched the bad LED with a paper towel and it came back on
Thanks, Only video I could find. Whirlpool wants you to call its service dept. Why made it so complicated to replace just for the light? Only 3 years and it broke. Junk material and design. Never replaced a fridge light so difficult like this and usually lasted over 10 years.
You speak the truth😊👍
Now I need help with the drawer light. It went out about a year ago and can’t find anything on how to change it

@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel the whole led module W11387579. Can't seem to find it anywhere.
For the life of me I cannot get that back tab off in order to pull off the clear housing. I’ve tried every tool I could think of to try and unclip it. How I wish I had the version with the screw on the back
Yep,
Just apply more force it will come off👍
Good news: the boards are available on Amazon for $15. The bad news is I have to change ours literally every 3 months. I keep an extra on hand.
Maybe the humidity is too high in the fridge.
I ordered one for $15, but it’s not the right part. Do you have the link for the part you order? Thank you!
@nanp248 Mine is the " W11043011 Refrigerator Freezer LED Module Light " . I thought most use the same light, they are a little funky to snap in though.
Cant get it off/ open
It does take a lot of force to pry it off👍
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel thanks! Got it today finally.
THIS IS THE WORST LIGHT FIXTURE IVE EVER SEEN.. ALSO THE ICE BOX IS the worst ice box to get out.. Not well thought out. Word love to help them design
Yep, not very user friendly 😂
Ridiculous design
So true

What can't you believe? They are discouraging you to do it yourself so you pay up the arse for the part and service tech.
Hi, thanks for this awesome, helpful vid. Question - the tab for the light cover, do you pull it towards you or push further down? Thanks
Good to push further down😊
I have Whirlpool side by side, about 5 years old. This is second time the lights have caused me a problem. I removed to cover in freezer compartment, unplugged and replugged, it did not correct the problem. My model # is WRS325FDAB06. The part # for upper light in freezer is WPPBA001025E-GLBN. WILL REPLACING THIS PART CORRECT MY PROBLEM? Thank You
Your video is the only one to show DIY for this fridge. But I spent 1 month to find it!! Please add more keywords like: LED replacement, Module W11527432.🧐🧐🧐
Great idea,
Thank you👍
Thanks for reading the part number off! I couldn’t find it without taking everything out! Great work!
Thanks Coby👍
I just pried with the screwdriver instead of trying to undo the two holders in the larger base - it clicked loudly and then complied...
Nice job Richard😊
Whirlpool wan'ts $135 for the light module.
I would get the Amazon one in the description 👍
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel I actually ordered the internals of Amazon for 13 bucks, thanks for the video and response.
Thanks it help me a lot because my light did not have screw to remove the cover I don’t want to break it with this video I did exactly like you show in the video my light. One of the wire was pinched so that was the problem os I fix it thank you I did subscribe and share thank you thank you
Awesome,
I really appreciate that 😊
Oh my gosh! Thank you sooo much- you're a lifesaver!
I have spent too much time trying to figure out how to replace the lights in my fridge & FINALLY found a video that shows it in detail and explains!
I even talked to whirlpool tech support and their parts dept!
They finally told me to call a service technician and basically hung up.
Thank you!
Awesome job👍😊
I cleaned the LEDs as someone else suggested in the comments with a q-tip and some alcohol and it worked - no money spent.
Nice job Scott😊
@spetiya1 YOU ROCK! I too cleaned the LEDs and they brightened up. Thank you 🙏
The whole "just depress the tabs" BS is infuriating. Since it's made out of plastic, you're living in fear that you're using way too much force. There's NO tool guide to make sure you're putting the screwdriver in the right place. The bottom of the tab where you're supposed to be exerting force has no flange to hold the screwdriver tip in place. Over all, a really crappy design. I finally resorted to putting the screwdriver over the module and forcing it down. It popped out with a horrendous noise, but it did come out. No damage.
The rest went smoothly.
Yep,
It can be hard to get off👍
Thank you, Scott. This information is invaluable, but there is no spot on the back of my LED module where the screwdriver can gain leverage for pulling towards the back of the refrigerator. My only solution will be to pull the module down from the back while hoping nothing breaks. Whirlpool recommends that we call for service, but I can't image they will do anything different.
You’ll be fine pulling it down. Can you double check that there isn’t a Phillips head screw there at the back of the assembly?
Some models have it.
I’m here for the same thing. The screw is out but prying the light cover off feels like it’s about the shatter. Still working on this.
Took me a few frustrated tries to get that friggin light out. But putting it in was super simple. Thanks for the help :)

Awesome, and thanks so much for your generosity 👍
Mine was the same; but after a few days it went out again. Still trying to find where to buy
Thank you very much for posting this video. I DID it myself. Local appliance service shop wants $100 to install this. Saved me at least $100 plus I ordered the replacement myself for $15. 👍
I love it😊😊😊
Thanks so much 👍
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel This is the absolute worst design for a fridge light. We should all send a letter whirlpool to complain that this should not have been so complicated. I thought I was going to Break the cover of of the part just to get to the main area. There's no design for it to be removed. Crazy thing is then you have to still drop the entire receptacle off to still get to the light. Hour and a half project for me.
Thanks for the video!! Mine had a screw holding the main housing cover on, and then i noticed the LED that seemed to have the problem. The moment I booped it, boom, all the lights came back full force!
Ooooo, that’s the kind of repair I like. You’re like the Fonz on Happy Days😊
Thank you so much 😊
Getting the tabs to turn loose it giving me fits. I hope I get that to work. Thanks.
Yep, double the force, it will come out👍
I wound up sticking a screwdriver in the top of the fixture and it finally just surprisingly fell out. I don't know what was holding the damn thing in place.
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel
The LED Controller assembly alone is $403 (plus 8.5% sales tax) AND the LED panel part is $81 (plus 8.5% sales tax) on my WRX735SDBM03. My issue: One side of the LEDs were completely out. My resolution: I unplugged the fridge, unplugged the assembly, removed the LED panels and inspected them for missing solder. Then I stuck in 2 small paper clips in each of the small holes next to each LED light (2 for each of the 4 LEDs) and removed. Screwed the panels back on, the controller back in, plugged the assembly back in and plugged the fridge back in - WORKED!! Both LED sides are back on and bright again. Open and closed each door individually 5 times and then open/closed both doors simultaneously 5 times: Lights turned on each time, full brightness without fail.
Wow,
That’s a good solution, thank you😊
Scott you make it look easy. I unscrewed the screw and popped the lens out. But I'm having a hard time with it. I have the original part. Just need to get the unit out.
Where you are putting the screw driver in the slot ...will that one tab release the whole thing?
Just use a flathead screwdriver to pry it out.👍 it takes some force.
Great video
If you buy just the circuit board and not the whole assembly, you can pop out those plastic rivets with a knife and replace the new board by using hot glue or sugru. Both will likely cause issues with warranty but if your doing this, you probably don't care
Great info.
Thank you👍
Thanks, this video was helpful! Mine was extremely stubborn.
Glad it helped!😊
I was super frustrated with this whole issue, but your video helped a lot!! Thanks!
