Furniture Row was always one of those teams I didn’t particularly pull for every week, but I wouldn’t be upset if they won. I’m Team Penske all the way but it was very satisfying to see them win the championship.

This hits home for me so much since I live in Colorado. I got to say “I have a hometown NASCAR team and they won a championship!” Still pisses me off that this town only cared about the Broncos the day after Truex won the championship. The Broncos, who got killed by the Bengals. The day he won, got the front page of the paper, while he was shoved to the 2nd page.
FRR will always hold a special place in Colorado sports history!

I was there at the Darlington race that day Regan won, I loved the simple design of the 78 and seeing that race that day at the race, it made me quite the fan of the little team that could. They were my favourite team all the way through MTJ's era. They showed a team didn't have to be from Charlotte to be successful. They were my fave team on the track and it still is heartbreaking that it was collapsed by Gibbs the way it did go. I wish it lived on, but one thing's for certain, the team will go down in the history books as one great team, the little team that could.

I don't care what anybody else says, Kurt made this team into a Championship contender. Pearn was already an engineer at the time in the team's history. Truex did terrible with Kurt's CC in 2014, imagine Kurt with Pearn. Kurt does this to every team he goes to, Penske got better when he went there, he made Phoenix Racing and Furniture Row Racing into contenders, and SHR has fallen a bit this year since Kurt's departure, also, one of the #78's lead engineers is at CGR now with Kurt, that's why CGR is getting a bit better.

Being from Colorado, September 4 2018 was a pretty sad day. They gave us all in this state something to identify with and root for in NASCAR, and it felt like it was all taken away overnight. Due to this I say screw 5 hour energy for leaving at a point in the year when they wouldn't be able to find a sponsor in time. And don't give me that "Joe Gibbs put them out of business" crap, all y'all in the comments. Visser denied it. Plus if that really happened I can guarantee you Cole Pearn wouldn't have gone over to JGR

    • @DannyBTalks

Joe Gibbs Racing got tired of getting beat by they're own equipment, so they raised the price out of reach for Barney Vissor to afford. Joe Gibbs calls himself a christian yet what they did was not a very "christian like" thing to do. For the sake of staying in racing LFR should know what to expect if the beat JGR. IMO this was a real shitty thing to do by Joe Gibbs Racing and they should be ashamed.

I have a feeling the France family might have had a hand in it...
I mean....How dare this guy from no where near NASCAR country succeed in a business designed to be done where THEY can keep everything in their greedy little hands....
Once again.....as Harry Gant said ..if Nascar doesn't want you to win or succeed or you don't play the game the way they want you to.....
They'll find a way to get rid of you and you'll never win again

A great example of this is Robby Gordon, NASACR did not want him to succeed and they fined him and penalized him anyway they could. Robby said in an article I read that,"NASCAR doesn't want small teams with small sponsors, they want big teams with big sponsors who bring in more money to the sport." This the team alliance concept we have now.

Called it. I knew it'd be this when you said it was a Truex video (One of the community posts for evidence).
That being said, this story sucks in the latter run. The fact that Gibbs was a major factor is just as upsetting because of what JGR has become in terms of the respect category (Which for the most part is null).
In addition, Truex has seemingly... changed... since it was announced FRR was shutting down & he was going to JGR. I wonder what will happen first; A Rise & Fall video on JGR, or Truex himself... It's kinda sad to think about since the latter is most likely, but I've seen things like this before where a driver gets corrupted after moving to a team with a bad reputation & low respect level, like JGR is now. It was like that with most of the Roush guys in the 2000's. Yeah some survived, but most of those guys because they weren't in Cup or they were there since the early 90's when things weren't as bad before the main crop of guys starting in Cup in the 2000's.

Egos on the 78 killed them. They forgot that minus JGR they would not be in the position they were in.

Unfortunately, NASCAR now has a rule where one side of the car can’t look too different than the other side of the car, because spotters need to be able to recognize the car.

Joe Gibbs is at fault here, here raised the price so furniture row wanted to raise the price for the sponsors, causing 5 hour energy to leave

They absolutely sucked until Truex came in 2014. Regan Smith was the only other driver to win, winning his "only" race, although he should've been credited with that 2007 win.

You mean this team absolutely sucked until they bought that turdyota advantage their consistently getting from nascar for that oh so important sponsorship money......Truex Jr’s career before then was a joke and now there doing the same for Dibenedetto another no talent scrub but with that JGR turdyota advantage instant career year only took him 20 races to smash all his numbers that he had in 131 total races.....

@@starscream9683 jeez, you actually think DiBenedetto has no talent!?

      @starscream9683 5 років тому

@@NASCAR_Junk well let's go over his career before getting JGR's advantage shall we.......in 140 races 0 wins, 0 top 5's, 3 top 10's, 23 laps led, 27 dnf's, average starting position no better than 29th, and average finishing position no better than 27th, so is this what you would call talent?

The thing I don’t get is the cost of NASCAR has gone down these last few years from my understanding. Furniture Row struggled for so many years and yet financially they were fine when costs were higher? Then once they hit success they couldn’t afford it? Leave the Gibbs alliance if it’s costing that much. Just hate seeing less than 40 car fields.

And this was the downward trend of NASCAR started when a championship team couldn't get a major sponsor while NASCAR was pulling in the big buck sponsors! They lost site of the teams and became seriously greedy! Then they continue to ruin the sport in 2022! Way to go NASCAR! I haven't watched or been to a race since those days! I just follow results now!

If NASCAR don’t want you there no matter how hard a team owner tries to please NASCAR if they don’t want you there a team will not make it, just like Bill Davis and others,I we would lose Jack Roush, Rick Hendricks, Joe Gibbs and Richard Childress the sport would be over forever.

JGR was getting its arse handed to them, so they screwed over the team from Denver by jacking up the price. I hope JGR folds soon. Truex should've put that POS logano into the wall the teams final year at Miami.

So, in 2016 Martin Truex Jr. has a strong season, but a single bad race at Crashadega and he's out of contention for the championship. More than anything else, this ongoing playoffs idiocy is what has ruined NASCAR for me and a lot of other fans. Now that Drunk Brian France is out, why have they not reverted to a season-long championship fight, something that not only made every race equal but also saw the sport to its greatest success? Is there a single smart brain cell left among any of the Frances?
