Truex has always been a talented driver even before he drove the 78. He may not be as talented as Elliott or Larson, but it was nice to finally get the career he deserved and hopefully JGR goes well for him.
If you have a team that's millions and millions of dallors for just 1 car, most teams don't have that like Joe Gibbs Racing, Hendrick Motorsports, or team Penske, so most teams rely on Sponsors funding teams, 5 Hour energy dropped out saying they don't want to sponsor the 78 for 2019, that's more money that Barney Visser has to keep throwing into the team, does Visser want to keep throwing money away just to support his team? Or does he want to use it to fix his health, help his own life
I work on a NHRA top Fuel team. It costs 4 to 5 million a year to run those cars. We got a tour of Stewart-Haas this year and the guy told us for Stewart haas to run all four of their cup teams it 154million a year. And it’s almost sickening
I think it's insane that this team could potentially win two championships in a row, and afterward, go out of business. Ned Jarrett retired without defending his championship... Probably the only driver who can say he retired as an undefeated champion.... Its just sad that FRR could do the same unwillingly. Just doesn't make sense that a good sponsor can't step up.
Not necessary, had Suárez went over there JGR would have upped the alliance money even more (with them technically at that point having to support 7 cars) and quite possibly ending Furniture Row sooner.
@@Highline_29_Designs I believe the original plan was to bring Erik into the 20 and put Daniel in the 77 for 1 or 2 years and then move him to the 19. This is a f**king shame that this is happening to a top performing team. Goes to show anyone that a team with full potential and being competitive for the win isn’t safe to stay in the sport without proper funding. Hard lesson for Furniture Row Racing and Barney Visser.
The worst part for me personally is that no one in Denver stepped up to fill the void, that a sponsor couldn't be found. There used to be a time sponsors were fighting to get their name on these cars. That's not the case anymore, that's for sure.
This is really sad I’m gonna miss the 78 bass pro auto trader 5 hour energy Toyota Camry being out on the track. I’m gonna miss Clayton Hughes spotting for the team.
I hope they honor Barney's wishes and retire that number for awhile. It's a special story with a special place in the lore of NASCAR. I wouldn't be opposed to having Toyota keeping it with Levine's if they were to expand and field a competitive car. They (Toyota) helped make it a "famous" number too. It'd be a shame however to give that number to some backmarker to run every week.

Sponsorship has never been a huge return on investment. So now the cost of sponsorship is becoming less and less worth it since costs keep going up.
Is there no way someone could fund the car and keep the 78 team going there has to be someone on out there. If they win the champion this year you can not shut down .
