Thank you so much for sharing this. My door mechanism had dismantled itself due to vibration, it is very similar to the one you show here. I have just saved myself at least £120 (new door price) stripping the door down and reasembling the mechanism. I was lucky, it all lined up 2nd attempt. A bit tricky but definitely worth percevering. Thank you for posting this excellent video. Our Hotpoint Aquarius washing machine door handle had snapped and had a replacement one delivered. Tried to fit the damn thing and had the spring round the wrong way. Your video resolved all, thanks!!
Excellent - used this to replace the door handle on my wd420 - Top tip to any other intrepid diyers - pay more attention when taking it apart and take photographs :) or use this handy video when you haven't
Thank you for your helpful video, replaced the broken handle and after the second attempt I can open my door again!! Did take a while to line up the hook and handle as you mentioned though!
Good video. Changed my latch easy enough but it took about an hour to re-hang the door. Had to walk away from it after the first 30 mins as I was ready to start throwing things. In the end I just about managed to get the 3rd bolt in and totally gave up on the 4th

Thank you very much for sharing this. The Door latch kit cost just £16! So i'm sure you've saved me a lot of money on a call out and retail parts! :-) One thing i would say to others is that you obviously don't need to remove the door hinges if you're just replacing the door handle and catch! ;-)

Hi thanks for the great video. We were able to follow your instructions but now the machine will not lock - the Door Locked signed remains off. Any ideas?
This was helpful. I fixed it as you showed, but it still doesn’t lock. How we the lock part itself seems fine. Any suggestions why the lock isn’t going into the lock hole?
One of the screw heads to remove the door broke within seconds of me trying to remove it, so the door's stuck on. I tried the job without removing the door, but separating the two main bits of the door was also a mare, multiple screwdrivers wedged in a various points around the edge and they still wouldn't separate. In the end I got fed up and basically forced them apart! Hurrah, I finally got the pecker unit, spring and broken handle, but getting all the pieces to stay in place seems impossible

Same here! Covered under warranty but would've had to wait 9 days for engineer to visit. Machine is now up & running.
just spent an hour replacing the handle and would probably still be doing it if wasn't for these tips, so thank you very very much!! :D
