Bob's Your Uncle - This Is How I Bob Scale RC Crawler Beds For A Nice Result
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 лют 2025
- This is the process of how I bob the bed of a hard body RC truck. It was all done using inexpensive hand tools so please don't be afraid to try it yourself! I've used these principals to shorten and lengthen MILLIONS of RC trucks.
Some of the supplies and tools used:
Dozuki/pull saw
MEK substitute for the “glue”
Bondo Glazing Putty (filler)
Aerosol filler primer
Hobby knife
Sanding sponge
Needle file
Nail file/sanding stick
Spring clamp
Bar clamp
This video was informative and well done. The content is unique and interesting. UA-cam has no place for this. I want to see an explosion, hear shouting, 2 dangerous pranks that put the wellbeing on onlookers in peril and most important, adding nothing to the hobby or humanity at all. Unsubbed.
Worst part is I didn’t even break anything. I mean, I kinda did but I put it back together nicely. Thanks for your unsubscribe
This is such a good video. It shows to a T what all is needed to make perfect cuts and bonds. It think it should have lead with a banner that read “patience not included”. Even showing people how to properly shake a can was a nice touch.
I often wonder if this is actually patience or just obsession. I’m very impatient. Reason why I don’t hunt or fish or golf or leave home and so on. But thanks!
Absolutely fantastic video! Thank you for posting this. Currently trying my first attempt at bobbing and pinching for 2025 comp season. So this is great help.
Glad I could help! Good luck comping!
I wish i would have watch this when i did mine. very clean! excellent work.
Thank you! Cheers! Better make another!
Absolutely worth the time it takes when it looks that good in the end. Thanks for sharing your videos with us.
Thanks for watching!
Very well done 👏. The sounds of the saw and the sanding and that burst of letting it all shake was quite satisfying 😊
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is next level detail very interesting
Glad you think so!
Video got bit shaky around 08:15 😅
Excellent job as always sir!
Sorry about that hehe
That is honestly the best bob job I've ever seen on one of those! Also, the frantic rattle can action was absolutely hilarious!
Thank you and also thank you for appreciating the humor
Followed your way to do my first bobb. The saw you have made the cut so easy, I was surprised. Not as neat as yours but I’m happy with how mine came out for the first time. Now I want to bobb everything lol.
That’s awesome. I’m glad this was helpful. Happy cutting.
PERFECT!! Thank You!!👍👍
Welcome!
Profeshhh. FOUR MILLION OUT OF FIVE MILLION trucks can not be wrong!
By the time I was 11 I already made 9 million trucks
Killer work Richard! Always a pleasure to watch you work.
Thanks for your continued viewings
So clean when you do it the right way. Can you do one the wrong way as well?
I’m very disappointed nobody told me I have done it wrong and that using a bandsaw with a fence would’ve done it much quicker without any measuring and that I’m an idiot but I have used a table saw several times to cut beds and it works fine but it’s kind of sketchy and I don’t want to promote unsafe behavior so once again thanks for all of that sick content you do and I wouldn’t have pinched the nose on the Hilux the way you did I would’ve used a table saw.
Excellent form with the paint shaking👌
Thank you so much 😀
Wow, just wow! I love seeing the process and the results, truly skilled!
Thanks so much!
Man, I wish I had seen this a week earlier before I bobbed my bed. I've never thought about using the cut section to reinforce on the back side.
Good enough reason to build another truck and save all of your scraps. I have boxes full of cut-offs.
This video is fantastic to see as a step-by-step. Definitely saving this video for future reference. Got a 4Runner body to do soon.
Awesome! Happy to be of help.
My favorite part was the vacuuming… lol jk but the can shaking part had me rolling lol
Love vacuuming, I spend more time cleaning up than building trucks.
The master at work. Awesome video.
Thank you kindly
Today I learned If you sand something long enough it turns into an amazing scale turk or jerp part.
AND your wrist will hurt
Nice ASMR video Richard!
Thank you 😁
Thanks, this is super helpful. 👍👍
Glad it was helpful!
Amazing
Thanks
Sehr saubere Arbeit! 👍🏻
Thanks!
Excellent video, simple and straight-forward (as always)! Fortunately, having started with scale models, I have lots of experience with styrene so, I've found it very useful with scale RCs. I would love to see how you pinch a styrene bed. Much more involved and something a little more advanced, that would be great! 👍
Thank you! I had very little styrene experience before RC except for model railroad structure building. If I ever have to pinch a bed again I’ll be sure to make a video.
Very informative. Thank you Sir.
You are welcome
Great video man!
Appreciate it!
Fantastic!
Thank you! Cheers!
Looks great! I tried doing this on the same body last year and my results were.................well it was together so need I say more, lol.
Good on you for even trying! Would you do it again?
@@turksandjerps I absolutely would try it again. Watching the video of you fixing the cab to be appropriate on the extracab body a few years ago made me want to at least 'bob' the bed as it seemed like a more simple way to try modding a hard body. Boy was I completely wrong on it looking easy to do,lol. Keep up the great work as you are a master to these builds.
Can you please provide us with the prescribed number of shakes of the rattle can before application. We want to be sure of the proper mixing procedure!
More than 30 less than infinity
@@turksandjerps - Lol!
Amazing work!!!
Thank you!
Very nice job
🔵🔵🔵🙂🙂🙂👍👍👍🔵🔵🔵
Thanks
Very Nice. Great work. :)
Thank you very much!
very nice and soo clean
I know it is neglible but all the support materials make it look heavy at the rear
would be nice to see how you do this on a Toyota Mojave II bed, the rear door makes it harder to clean hehe
I’ve done lots of Mojave II beds. Easier than this bed, less detail on bed floor.
Awesome video Thank you for sharing 👍
Question how wide of a section did you remove
If I recall correctly it was an inch. Thanks for watching.
Epic!
Doesn’t look realistic.
Nobody in the real world (1:1) could do such a clean job.
Awesome work man, great video
Thanks a ton!
Hear me out
Blockbuster film starring you as Bobby McBedsworth and your trusty sidekick SBG Guy. Name of the film? Jerping Turks.
Pretty much writes itself! I’d watch the heck outta that
Is my name on the poster first? And do I get the rights to all of the merchandise?
Love it, I’m about to attempt my first bed bobbing. Where can I get the correct glue I want it to be very strong.
You want a solvent that melts the plastic such as Plastic Weld or can go to the hardware store and get acetone or MEK
Thanks for your time! Which filter do you use for your paint booth?
Whichever one came with it. Wish I knew more info
Hey Rich love the video especially since I’m doing the same Bob to the same bed… lol What size if the pull saw you’re using? I’ve seen 7”-9.5”
That's great, glad you like the video. I have a few saws in that range. I'd say the longer the better when you're bobbing or cutting the width of a body. Helps for an easier cut.
R.I.P. Bob Saget
Gone too soon
Looks factory!
That was the idea!
Hi nice job what glue is that
Thanks the glue isn’t glue it’s a solvent that melts the plastic to form the bond. It’s MEK substitute but acetone works too
Can you please put a list of supplies you used in the video description...for the complete newbies like me?
Updated the description with supplies. If I missed something let me know
@@turksandjerps Thank you very much!
@@turksandjerps did the MEK substitute come in that applicator/brush bottle, or is that something you did yourself?
@@JPWirt I get it in a gallon can at the hardware store. This brush applicator bottle was from a hobby sized bottle of plastic weld that I refill with MEK as needed.
@@turksandjerps perfect! Thanks again and great tutorial. I like that you used the deleted section to reinforce the joint.
Man, I need to try and do this in just 10 minutes. lol jj ha ha ha..
It’s mostly paint can shaking. The cutting was the quick part
What type and brand of glue did you use to bond the pieces together?
MEK substitute. It melts the plastic and welds it together
what glue did you use ????
MEK substitute
Any interest is selling this bed? I am about to start a project and there is I have never been able to bob a bed and have it not look like a hack job.
This was already a commissioned work but I may be open to doing another. It's best to contact me on Instagram. Thanks
My uncle’s name is actually Paul. He does not like toy trucks….
I’ll be your uncle.
I only got two bull head bodies and can't mess it up
Measure once, cut twice
I wish my uncle was named Bob
It’s Uncle Robert to you
Send it through the table saw
I only use my table saw for cutting bread
@turksandjerps I've done 2 on the table saw and both couldn't have come out more perfect
what's that fancy red putty stuff? I tried big red chewing gum, but now my truck is sticky and covered in ants
This is Small Red
Stop putting ideas in my Head!!!! 😂
Do it!
Did you steel your lady’s nail file? 😂
Other way around! She’s the one that steels them from my hobby room.
Not bad for a white guy.
How did you know!?
