A co-worker offered me one for a few bucks. I had bad knee problems so I decided to give it a try. First I felt a bit uncomfortable and ridiculous. Now a year is over and I love this thing. Train, tram, bus - no problem, personal record: 38 kilometres in one row. I ride it with pride not to have one of those electric garbage things, never have to fear it might get stolen cause I take it everywhere with me. Sometimes people comment it a bit condescendig but I'm 50+ and don't give a fxxk
I am 60, got 2 border collie puppies in January, walking 14,000 steps a day, and, as they grow, can't catch up with them anymore. So, to let them run at the pace they want on a leash I am getting a kick scooter to ride along them.
@@treadnokash7598 me too. I have bad knees and cant sit on bikes anymore after puss surgery last year so this would be perfect. I really fancy the Xootr brand.
@@treadnokash7598Same getting closer to 40. During covid I was switched to permanent remote status so most likely will never need to commute to an office. I've been walking everywhere since 2020-2021, but its starting to feel like a chore and scooter seems like the next logical step. Also get a free workout.
I am a 72 year old woman and have ordered a Razor A5 Air as bicycling has become too dangerous so I am hoping this scooter will serve my needs to ride and enjoy some fresh air!
I have it. Just so you know the deck is really low. Make sure to pick it up before going up a bad sidewalk because the deck will scrape on any uneven surface.
I am 40 I've been scooting for a year now; first on Hudora (not recommended) and just today I got my new micro scooter (big wheel). I've only seen 3 adults scooting in the whole time I've been doing it and I can hear people laughing or commenting when they see me but I so do not care!!! I'm now training my youngest 2,8 year old daughter to scoot and can't wait to scoot with both of my daughters :) It makes me feel younger and freeeeeee!!! Great review by the way! :)
i'm 75, have raced karts, hydroplanes, and sports cars, have owned 4 motorcycles and once rode a BMW 3,000 miles across the US. I took up kick scooting 1 month ago and I've never had such a good time. Love everything about kick scooting! People do look at me as I scoot past but most of them smile and say, "That looks like fun!" and they are, of course, correct!
I've never seen any commuters on kick-scooters here in the UK, but watching this video has made me wonder... why not? It seems like a perfectly viable method of transport, it's a lot smaller, and lighter than a bicycle (unless you have one of them crazy folding bikes with tiny wheels that look as ridiculous as their price) which means you don't have to worry as much about storage. You've pointed out many of the positives, it's speedy, helps you exercise and I'm guessing it was relatively cheap (compared to a commuter style bicycle) I suppose people think it's embarrassing to be seen on them, but the sooner we all stopped giving a fuck about what strangers in the street think about us, the better! I'd love to cruise around town on a little kick-scooter!
sporkafife I recently just bought a Razor kick scooter at Target for about $40, which is super affordable compared to the bikes for sale there that were going for $125 at the very least. I have fun riding my scooter, even though my neighbors think I'm crazy. I plan on using my scooter to get around my college campus a lot easier.
sporkafife There are quite a few commuters on kick scooters in London! It's great being able to wake up in the morning knowing my scooter won't tell me there will be severe delays today!
+sporkafife I'm seriously considering a kick scooter for the summer. I usually walk to the train station because the bus frequency is laughable, then walk from the station on the other end to work because the traffic is often walking pace or slower. Getting overtake while on the bus by a guy in a wheelchair makes you think. Also been looking at electric scooters, but I don't think they are quite ready for prime time, especially at the price they are (and no, Razor scooters are not a viable electric option) Edit - been looking at the Town 9, as it's folding and actually has a front break
Dude who gives a rip what others may think about you on a scooter. You're doing something positive for yourself, that's all that matters. I'll be 48 in a month and am here looking for a good scooter for myself. I plan to get one for my 5 1/2 year old daughter so we can go cruising together this summer. If I'm being honest, I've been considering one of these since before she was born. She just gives me a good excuse to get one!
I used to like riding my scooter when I was a kid. I'm 60 now and want to start all over again! I think I might be a bit self-conscious at first but your video is certainly encouraging.
ha...I am 69 and recently got me a scooter....use it for exercise and as an alternative to my push bike....who cares what folk think...I am way past that........although I did wonder what the old boy sipping his can of cider on a quiet path thought as I whizzed by !!!!....nice review; thanks
I have terrible balance for a skateboard, but the micro suspension kick scooter seems like a great method of hauling foot around my college campus and to my favorite shop down the road. Awesome!
50 year old, using micro scooter black in London. Use for pre and post bus journey. Makes a huge difference to Journey. Mile to bus stop, 45 mins bus, then 0.5 mile to the office. Love it, love it, love it. BTW, bus journey only £1. 65 so saving on tube fares and not standing, sitting in a grubby tube system. Yeah, people stare a little but they are nodding and smiling once they see me hop off bus and zip down the pavement. Well worth the money. Do it. !!
I'm 63 and always looking for new ways of exercise and getting around. Just bought the Razor A6 (10" wheels!) and took it to the beach to test it out. It really is quick and a great way to get around, folds up and take into eateries and stores was no problem. To my surprise, NO ONE laughed at me. I did get some curious stares but that was about it. Very practical.
At 42 years old, I love riding 5 miles a day from work to home on my Razor A5 Lux Black Label. I had jury duty at downtown San Diego, when I discovered (while on lunch break) that full suited business men and women were using these adult scooters. So I bought one and I primarily used it to keep up with my kids at the park...but the gas I save and to bring it in my office with hardly taking up any space...I'm completely satisfied to use it anytime/anywhere I want. I used to bomb hills with my Landyachtz too, but again the older you get, the injuries get harder and longer to recover from... The scooter still gives almost the same thrill, but a lot more control and safer.
52 years old. Getting a kick scooter was a game changer for me since I have a hip condition and can't walk more than a few miles without getting arthritis. I can go 15 miles on a kick scooter. Now I have 5 or so. I recommend 200 mm wheels, Bones Reds bearings, front suspension, foldable, handbrake optional. There's plenty of youtbue vids on changing bearings. It's very easy.
Grown up, teens, child...who cares. ride what you want, do what you want. If it doesn't aggravate your back, if it raises your heart rate and will assist in the weight loss, who cares! Go for gold. They are becoming the norm now anyways
Great video thanks. I'm 75 and just bought myself a kick scooter to keep active. Need the confidence to put my left foot up on the brake. So a way to go yet. At my age should I worry about being laughed at, hey I am the one who's having fun :)
Just ran across this as I just purchased my own kick scooter. So posted 7 years ago. I think that's around 2015ish. I would say you're just self-conscious as I was seeing teens to middle age group of people were riding these early 2ks. Fast forwarded this present day, e-scooters are more trendy and kick-scooters blends well. I can even see some gentlemen on Suit and Ties riding one. Certainly you're not alone now. :)
I started riding a kick scooter to school a month ago and already I manage to break it however I can still ride it around. Just like yours I have a stand but unlike yours I have bigger wheels and my God there do make a huge difference. I rode a scooter with small wheels before and it was uncomfortable but with big wheels, its really smooth, even on rough surface and I can kick maybe 3 times before I get to the end of the pavement. Its that fast, People do look at me and some laughed at me but who cares! And it when I ride past kids they stare at me and cry to they mummy asking for one.
I want one now. I used to have one when I was younger and it was my favorite method of locomotion. I got so used to driving everywhere that I forgot the simple joy of open-air human propelled vehicles.
I'm a 48 year old overweight woman who borrowed a friend's scooter to see how I got on with it as I was considering buying one. Fantastic fun!! Wanted to get fit and maybe lose some weight. I usually get the bus to work, a 30 minute cramped and boring commute. I did try walking it but it was 90 minute treck which meant leas time in bed. The scooter is a brilliant compromise, a larger wheeled one than in this video. Starting the day off whizzing down a hill here in Edinburgh is a fun and stress free way to start the day. Then some flat to scoot along before a large hill to go up. I jump on the bus to go up the hill, until I feel fit enough to tackle it. Then off the bus to do the last leg of the journey. I'm absolutely living it, gives the same feeling of freedom I felt as a kid. Some good sounds on scooting past the lines of traffic and packed buses. Can't beat it. Highly recommend.
Good job on the video! It's great that you are getting the word out about scooters! I've been riding for 8 years and honestly I love the fact that people are beginning to try out new forms of fun transportation!
Oh man, you just made me want to buy a scooter... lol wow. I've actually considered one though. Used to love scootin and skatin as a kid. Thanks for the sweet review.
I just got one too and also for health reasons plus save on fuel plus it's fun! . I am hoping it will force me to walk more and be more outdoors rather than jump in the car to go up the street to the bank or post office. Good exercise too and I need it as I am now 40 and can see the pounds increasing.
I’m actually surprised it’s not more popular. A foldable kick scooter honestly might be the perfect vehicle for metro commuting. I’m not in a metro area, and I am about 1/4mile from work. However next year the office is moving to be about 3/4 miles, and rather than triple my commute time, I may get one of these. I’d rather not drive to be honest, as it just seems like a waste.
I really wish more people would give more thought into their commuting options instead of just defaulting to a car every time. It leads to interesting results like yours! I'd love to live in a place where no matter what you drive or ride, you'd not look like a weirdo.
Thanks for making this video - I also have knee problems, a back issue, and a mountain bike - and am looking for a posture-upright exercise other than walking - was looking at scooters, which I had when young, and your video has convinced me.
I live in Montreal, am 53 and got a kick scooter, an a5 lux razor. I use it for evening ballads in mu neighborhood and rides along the waterfront on weekends and I love it.
greetings! 200 mm wheel size is the norm for adult commuter kick scooters. you have wider choices in the USA. we do not have much choices in philippines. jd bug, chaser, joybold and globber brands are what we have here.
Blunty Yeah I meant more the exercise than the back, unless the scooter comes with a team of surgeons and rehab people from 2050 that you're not telling us about.
I think it's great. I always enjoy getting around on my folding bike (Tern Node D8) but sometimes the trip is too long to walk, too short for car and you want something simple and super compact. I'm buying an Oxelo Town 9 to keep handy and to have for college. It's very rewarding being able to get around without a car especially here in Los Angeles. It's almost liberating. Cheers!
We think you are doing an amazing job. Adult scooters are a fun, green and easy way to get around. Even if we do say so ourselves. Welcome to the revolution - glad to have you on board.
I'm 47 and just converted to using a big wheel kick scooter. It's incredible fun and I highly recommend them to anyone!! Who cares what people think?!!
I love kick scooters and ride them a lot (I've got more models) trying to ignore stupid people who correlate them to kids. A kick scooter is really practical, but it isn't as fun as a unicycle. The funniest number of wheel is not two, but one. ;) Stupid people correlate unicycles to clowns the same way they do with kick scooters and kids. I also ride unicycles and waveboards and other vehicles that stupid people always have to say something bad about. But there will always be other people who will be inspired by you, who will appreciate you for doing what you do and your "sacrifice" will be bearable. The same thing happened with the bicycles (people used to laugh when noticing them for the first time). I hope that people will understand that kick scooters are really more practical and safer than bicycles in many situations. After 5 years since you published this video there are already more people riding kick scooters (and also unicycles).
Heck yeah I recently discovered the joy of adult scooting and find I actually like it more than a bike (which I also enjoy). Now am considering a kickbike. Props to you for riding unicycles! I never thought of trying that before or seeing it on public streets. Maybe it would be like scooting where I try it and think "Why didn't I try this sooner".
*gives stressed out college students trying to get to class on the other side of the campus a middle finger as my swaggy scooter takes me to my class 10x faster than them and I will have 10 minutes to spare*
I used to have one as kid and spotted them popping up in London recently and was just today thinking about getting one. Just need to get over that social stigma against things like this.
Thanks for this awesome and honest review! I just ordered a Micro and have the same reservations about riding around in public. But once we’re back to work after this quarantine fiasco (I’m in Louisville, KY USA), I look forward to my shorter commute to work and to be able to zip down the street on lunch for coffee etc. while my commute is right under a mile, I tend to get nervous about certain blocks and bus stops I have to walk past to get to/from work. This should be my “walk” faster AND more fun! Thanks again! I’m definitely sold on the brand now too.
I use a Solo-Wheel around town and at parks. Where I work is in urban downtown and you have to find parking and pay each time to park so it's more convenient to leave my car at the office and use the Solo-Wheel for small trips and errands. It's fun, convenient, and although I'm not getting cardio exercise, I do feel that my balance and core muscles are better for it. I'm not sure what everyone thinks of it, but everywhere I go people are always fascinated and say it's the coolest thing they've ever seen.
Currently I ride a Razer Pro, got it back when pro models were sold with adjustable handle bar height. I mostly ride it for the fun of it, I'm terrible but I practice tail whips , and mount with the occasional bri-flip from the ground every now and again. I do the majority of my commuting via my bicycle because it's generally faster and easier to lock away where ever I go. Being a trick scooter I often find that using it for commute begins to tire my legs due to the constant vibrations, especially because the majority of paths I use are sidewalks, and the transition from tile to tile tires my legs after awhile. All in all, I'd give kick scooters a thumbs up. I haven't had any personal experience with a scooter designed for commute, so I really look forward to you reviewing a scooter with air-filled tires. I'm extremely curious about rolling resistance to see if it's worth an investment for longer commutes
I took my 5 year old shopping for a new scooter today and when I looked closer at the ones she liked I realised they were designed for adults. she picked the one she wanted and said daddy try it it's great so to be a good dad I had a little shot and instantly loved it! I am dying to buy one now but my main concern is what other people will think of me as I have not seen any adults in my area at all on a scooter. I'm 35 and are thinking how great it will be to park the car half way to work and scoot the rest. it's difficult not to care what people think.
Riding a kick scooter as an adult is all about giving zero fucks. It was a bit of a struggle as a self-conscious 18 year old, but now nearing 34, zero fucks are given. Blunty, have you decided to upgrade to a larger scooter? I highly recommend any of the Xootr brand scooters. They have large 180 mm wheels, roomy decks that are low to the ground, tall handlebars, and have front and rear brakes. They are quite expensive, so it requires some commitment.
a bit surprised that people talk about being self conscious. ive recently discovered kick scooters. they are on the rise popularity wise here in London. for a crowded city theres no better way to get around. i work in the city and see businessmen with suits riding them. also our prime minister Cameron uses one. and also seen the version which folds out of a carry-on bag. great for those long distances in large airports. that one is by micro-scooter. dont know if other companies do them.
I would totally love to use a kids toy if it means less storage, weight, and risk of potential danger! Okay, but seriously, having a scooter is one of the best choices I made in my adult life! I'm 19, so I'm still very young, and scootering for commute is super convenient when you're not in the situation to secure a bike because of a lack or racks, or in a when walking is too tiresome, but carrying another mode of transportation is too hefty as well. The fact that most commuter scooter fold really adds to the charm; simply just use a carry strap to keep it with you when your hands are busy. Using a scooter really softens the load while I save up for a car, and also, did I mention, it's super fun!
Thanks for actually having a 'review' on the item in question. All the other vids about this topic seem to be 'how to' or 'home video of my kids playing'.. That's not what a review is grrrr. used to have a scooter as a kid (those cheapo Razor knock offs that was every corner store). And now it's nice to seem them doing a bit of a revival. Saw a guy in a business suit riding one down Melb CBD and I was like.. man I want one. Now I'm definitely getting one, should make it easier to catch Pokemon that's for sure! :D
Larger wheels are good for street cracks, but the most important part is to have soft wheels if the pavement in your area has slightly rough surface. Pass a finger on the street surface, if you can feel the small stones in the concrete, batter don't go with stiff urethane wheels, it can be unbearable
That may be true, but the ones with pneumatic tyres are super slow so not much fun to ride bc you've got to kick more often than you would on one with polyurethane wheels.
My 5 year old son has a 3 (technically 4) wheel Micro Maxi scooter, he often rides it on a paved 5 mile/8 kilometer trail nearby where we live while I do my best to keep up with him on foot. Short of it, that wasn't working. So, I bought myself a Razor A5 lux, 200mm (8") wheels, fold up just like your micro. I also bought a pneumatic tire version of the same scooter, literally the next day. The pneumatic tires don't roll quite as well but do take up some of the road vibration. I haven't had a chance to ride with my son yet, will try and do so tomorrow.
I've started commuting on a Fuzion Cityglide Air, which has air-filled 200mm tires. The rolling resistance is high, but it is a smooth ride on bumpy sidewalks. I'm in California, and I see other people riding around on scooters on the campus where I work.
I'm 70 and have been riding a Xootr for 2 1/2 years and I love em! 3 months ago I got a Kickbike and I ride at least 10 miles every day. Can't stay off the damn things! I can go through 4 inches of powdered snow with the kickbike and often have. The kickbike does great on compact snow and ice, just slow down...... fun!
I'd like one for my job. I work in storage at a production company and walk around all day long. Might speed up a few things with this and help on my back too
Just wanted to say that I came across this one while browsing your videos, and was already wondering if they made these for adults. I looked up and found Oxelo scooters, then the much versatile Swifty scooters/kick-bikes with 16" wheels. I bought one in 2 days and have been riding it nonstop since that day. Absolutely wonderful, thanks for reminding me.
Speaking as a 23yo guy, who has just bought my first scooter (Oxelo Town 9 EF V2), i can honestly day, best purchase ive made in a while. I have been unable to ride a bike since a cycling accident 5 years ago, which caused a knee injury, preventing me from riding a bike without extreme knee pain. Riding a scooter however - no problems. I dont have great self confidence, but that is quickly being resolved through using the scooter, as you do get a lot of looks, but who cares, i'm having fun, getting some exercise and being an adult in the way i want to be. Even thinking of getting a scooter with 300mm wheels (SwiftyAIR MK2) for use in the trails off-road. I've got a car (EV) that i use for commuting most of the time, but when its relatively sunny out and warm(ish), I'll use the scooter to commute to work instead, for a bit off added fun on my commute, and some needed exercise, and if nothing else, helping me to wake up. Great video.
Great video Blunty! I've owned an adult scooter for about a month now. After much research I eventually chose the Hudora Big Wheel GS205. It's pretty well built, lightweight, and foldable with ABEC5 bearings. I've been using my scooter to commute 3 miles to work and back 5 days a week. It's a real good workout and after 6 miles per day I'm pretty worn out, but I am just hooked on this thing! Some days I finish work and decide to get the train home, but by the time I get outside I'm holding my scooter and it's yelling at me! My legs are itching to jump on it and start kicking...so I do! I too am looking to purchase some pneumatic wheels as it is quite a shakey ride on bumpy terrain! Fortunately the Hudora scooters are pretty customisable and the company sells all the relevant parts on their website. With so many cyclists killed in tragic accidents in London, if not seriously injured and absolutely terrified of getting back on a bike, it made sense for me to try out a scooter, as they are permitted on footpaths! I don't think I will ever regret it!
I’m in my 50’s and have a Swifty Air. It’s an adult scooter with 16” pneumatic tyres and proper ‘bike’ brakes. I love it, I take it with me on holiday in the MoHo too and it’s awesome. Personal best was 20 miles one day along a canal bank near Glasgow 🏴. Everyone should try it, it’s great fun 🤩👍
Genius! I'm gonna try one..being an overweight mid fourty's with several disk herniations and a shoulder replacement..bending on a bike isnt happening here. Tft info!!
Been using a Xootr for about 20 years, and 64 years old. Thousands of miles on several models. In april it's off to Japan - I have learned how to attach 30 lbs of camping gear to the stem/handlebars with Velcro One-Wrap self-adhering type, in dry bags. Great fun for commuting or last-mile urban trips including the Japan Railway lines. Go for it - I love Xootring.
I ride Micro Flex Classic (bigger wheels and fibreglass middle section that acts as a spring) It withstands my 87kg in full on jump and is tall enough for a 189cm guy. My next one will be Micro Flex Deluxe with even bigger wheels. Micro is a solid brand, can't go wrong with that, but small wheels get stuck in cracks and uneven rad bits, so bigger wheels are definitely an advantage. Don't mind what others say, scooter is fun, your health is none of the stranger's business. Keep it up and have fun! You have my support!
Thanks for the review. I'm getting my son a scooter to ride but as I usually walk with him I might have get a scooter myself so we can ride together. I'm also around 96kg so I'll need to be careful with luggage and weight limits.
I once saw a guy with a slim black suit and some files I guess in his armpit, riding on a kickscooter in town. He had a white kind of ''daredevil'' helmet on lol. I think that was funny, but in a cool way. It doesn't look weird at all when you're riding it, you kinda dress like a skater I think.
Hey Blunty, good for you man! I've been riding skateboards and building scooters since I was 9 years old lol. I'll be 61 this month 2/17/2016. I have had radiation treatments for cancer that fucked my back up for the past 17 years, can hardly stand straight up but I'm still here and to me this is just another obstacle to over come. I researched the many adult scooters out here and ended up with a Razor A5, with the extended 18" handlebars and with the kickstand, delivered for $59.00 from Wollyworld. I got the chrome with red wheels, it's built very well and holds my 255lbs with no problems at all. I've been using the A4 before this and paid twice as much, go figure! Even though I have back problems, riding this scooter to the store, 4.5 mile each way in the city for the past year has really improved my pain levels. Still messed up but I can ride the shit out of this one, so much better with the BIG 7" wheels. I think more people should seriously take a closer look at this fun transportation, whether they have back problems or not. It's great exercise, that I normally couldn't do. I fk'n love the title of your video LOL I checked out your other reviews and videos, I'm into quadcopters as well. You are an arrogant, rude, cocky bastard and I think you do an excellent job! One new sub here!!!
not uncool, very practical, and I would say that if you can eventually get the air filled tires type, the vibration going through your body should be significantly less. ( if you can maintain the same deck height, all the better)
I have had two versions of xootr for the past 12 years. Highly recommended especially for urban terrain. The larger wheels are fast and that is what I need for a beer run to the neighbor convenience store.
I have recently bought one for myself, and I have never tried a scooter in my life. Now starting to ride as a fun exercise around my house after WFH. It's fun, and who cares if people are looking at me or not! Thanks for your review!
I got myself a scooter so I could ride with my little girl and it's great. I've never considered it as a commuter but it would probably be awesome. Scooters are for everyone! hahaha. Great review.
Replacing the crappy stock bearings can be one way of improving the ride tenfold. In my opinion Bone's selection of Reds bearings are excellent and you can pick up for $10-30 depending on your bargin hunting skills. Even their stock standard Reds got me solid 2 minute spin time and lasted well past their lifepspans. Also completely relate to working on your injury, comfort and health far outweigh what randoms think.
At last an honest interesting discussion on a kick back scooter, I looked at few and they where all 2sec on what I wanted to know and 15 minutes on the scooter creation and its exciting features. Thank you x
Hi! Great review video! Relaxing view and narration. I ride the Micro for multi-mile commuting through the city or for grocery runs, and the Razor A5 Lux for joy rides and quick a to b commutes. The former is a smooth ride, very durable and $200. The latter is cheaper, with a bit of a shakier ride, and also holds up pretty well. I've have both for a couple years after some hardcore use, and so far, no problems whatsoever. The wheels on the A5 Lux have gotten a bit noisy though. Like the rubber is sliding on the mud guards. There is a freedom to riding a scooter. You can take it indoors no hassle, and work great for a minimalist lifestyle. And in fact, pair well with minimalist footwear. They're also excellent exercise. Bikini body all year round. Nay Sayers ought to join the herd and ride a commuter scooter! :)
Oh this brings back memories. I love kick scooters. No I want one again. Recently I had a conversation about kick scooters with a friend, and we both want one.
I picked up a micro flex deck with air tyres for $8. Very good at absorbing bumps. Downside is that it's the version with the puny hard to use rear brake "button". Nowadays there are also smallish compact electric scooters too.
I recently bought a kickbike city c4, and is very pleased with it. I use it to my local shop if i just need to get a few things. It was a bit expensive, but i feel that it was worth it.
been wanting one of these and im 6'10 i remember back in the 90s the hudge scooters cant sk8te board or roller sk8te but these look easy to do and cheap! might have to get one!
I’m a slightly overweight (lazy) 40 year old with two scooter mad boys (4 & 5) I’ve recently got myself a foldable JD Bug scooter (street pro v3 something another) its certainly well made. One thing with these, no punctures!! And zero maintenance. The threshold to go from a walk to scooter seems very low in contrast with my road bike which i havent used in 3 years.
I recently have got into adult scootering around campus but one thing you should consider is the contradiction in the fact that you would like larger wheels but would like a low enough ground clearance to avoid dipping down to push. I have a scooter with quite large wheels and I find that the dipping was annoying at first but is worth it in the long run because of the increased mobility. The bottom line is that bigger wheels usually mean higher decks.
im also btw 30 and 40, today riding my new k.scooter got some attention from young teens (Baltic States) but who cares, as you say, i feel its very healthy- more than electric scooter, and w big wheels, quite comfortable and lies just in between walking and cycling time-wise! Go for it, its worth it!
I've been using one of these scooters to keep up with my two young kids...who rocket around on these things. I'm also over 100kg (185cm) and opted for the Micro Rocket with the extra wide wheels. Carries my weight very well and glides like a champ. We live in a hilly Swiss city, so the scooter is perfect for the downhill ride...metro for the return trip! I find these Micro's very convenient.
I used to ride bikes too but ever since i had a hour long bus commute it became too much of a hassle for me to bike everywhere when I'm already paying for my bus pass. Plus i enjoy the peace i get when i walk, whereas i always feel more stressed when i'm riding anything going even slighlty uphill.
Dude im 28 this inspired more to ride ❤
Tried my daughters micro sprite and its sooo much fun.. thinking of buying one myself
I took my kick scooter to work and my co workers laughed at me and by the end of the day they all had a go on it and loved it 🙂
I am 40 I've been scooting for a year now; first on Hudora (not recommended) and just today I got my new micro scooter (big wheel).
Omg I love this comment! Scoot on!! ❤️
Nothing better than knowing how to have fun!
We're in the age of selfie-sticks now, so riding a scooter is far from the most ridiculous thing you could be using out in public.
You've pointed out many of the positives, it's speedy, helps you exercise and I'm guessing it was relatively cheap (compared to a commuter style bicycle)
I suppose people think it's embarrassing to be seen on them, but the sooner we all stopped giving a fuck about what strangers in the street think about us, the better! I'd love to cruise around town on a little kick-scooter!
Because as blunty said most people are too worried about what other people think of them to go out and have fun.
sporkafife I recently just bought a Razor kick scooter at Target for about $40, which is super affordable compared to the bikes for sale there that were going for $125 at the very least. I have fun riding my scooter, even though my neighbors think I'm crazy. I plan on using my scooter to get around my college campus a lot easier.
LeighPing A jogger wouldnt give a shit about getting lapped by someone on a scooter
sporkafife There are quite a few commuters on kick scooters in London!
Also been looking at electric scooters, but I don't think they are quite ready for prime time, especially at the price they are (and no, Razor scooters are not a viable electric option)
Edit - been looking at the Town 9, as it's folding and actually has a front break
I think I might be a bit self-conscious at first but your video is certainly encouraging.
im 52. live in london. its a great way to get around in cities. just avoid a pink basket and tassels and youve got yourself an adult scooter.
+galad riel ha-ha, great advice!!! :)
I'm 63 and I just bought one
ha...I am 69 and recently got me a scooter....use it for exercise and as an alternative to my push bike....who cares what folk think...I am way past that........although I did wonder what the old boy sipping his can of cider on a quiet path thought as I whizzed by !!!!....nice review; thanks
I have terrible balance for a skateboard, but the micro suspension kick scooter seems like a great method of hauling foot around my college campus and to my favorite shop down the road. Awesome!
I've been riding off and on for 18 years I ride a Xootr scooter ... Oh I'll be 70 in March ... Good video ... Thanks
Respect for staying active
Awesome! You really inspire me.
How long does it usually take you?
"Hello, my name is Blunty, and I'm a grown up" - possible the best intro to a youtube video I have seen in my life
52 years old.
There are some scooters with handlebar lever operated brakes if that feels more secure. You can keep your feet on the deck
Its that fast,
People do look at me and some laughed at me but who cares!
And it when I ride past kids they stare at me and cry to they mummy asking for one.
Yes! I'm a 40 year old man, 240 lb. I too have back and knee problems. Yesterday I received my Razor air 5 Kick Scooter. I have yet to get my kicks.
Are you perhaps still using the air 5? Just ordered mine, and I wonder how it holds up over time.
I want one now. I used to have one when I was younger and it was my favorite method of locomotion. I got so used to driving everywhere that I forgot the simple joy of open-air human propelled vehicles.
Nothing wrong with kickscooters, yo.
At least you're little enough to get away with a "kids" one ;P
Blunty Haha, true that!
I just bought a Razor A5 Lux Scooter.
Very great option as well.
I am 33 years old, and I just bought it for the fun's sake. It works very well :)
Thanks for making this video - I also have knee problems, a back issue, and a mountain bike - and am looking for a posture-upright exercise other than walking - was looking at scooters, which I had when young, and your video has convinced me.
you are The only person on UA-cam to make a review good!!! Can't wait to buy mine this weekend
Same! It's going to be my first scooter, what about you
I live in Montreal, am 53 and got a kick scooter, an a5 lux razor.
Good on you Blunty actively seeking a way to fix your problems or at least make them better, best of luck.
My problems can't be "fixed"... I'm just trying to slow down how quickly they get worse ;)
Blunty In the end. Its all good Blunty! double thumbs up!
Blunty Yeah I meant more the exercise than the back, unless the scooter comes with a team of surgeons and rehab people from 2050 that you're not telling us about.
Blunty you could always just attact different wheels, to your current scooter. Idk if ya knew that, but then again I maybe wrong.
Blunty what problem you got, my friend has also chronic back pain and he is just 19. He had disc injury I wonder what you had.
I'm 25 and I want a kick scooter. Looks like fun!
I've been riding a Razor A5 Lux for a year now. Love it.
I love kick scooters and ride them a lot (I've got more models) trying to ignore stupid people who correlate them to kids. A kick scooter is really practical, but it isn't as fun as a unicycle. The funniest number of wheel is not two, but one. ;)
Stupid people correlate unicycles to clowns the same way they do with kick scooters and kids.
I just got a kick scooter. It is perfect for the pretty flat two mile commute. Less fussy than biking and faster than walking.
You convinced me. I'm getting one
Thanks for the video!
I'm halfway through my 20's and love riding mine through the city!
I had my Razor for at least 10 years, used to love riding these scooters as a kid!
Thank you Blunty. Addressed all of my concerns. Good work mate!
Might speed up a few things with this and help on my back too
Just got a StreetRunner Dart on impulse and it's great! 8" wheels, front suspension and lots of deck space.
Australia looks so beautiful😍😍 greetings from California.
*****
the australian ones are special
trust me
they just are.
+The Minty Badger Fuck you dude, im aussie and your calling us a freak... whats wrong with us mate!
😂
Neat, I have been thinking about getting a bike lately but I get the back pain from it, too. I feel like trying a kick-scooter now.
Cool video yeah I used to sk8 too I guess I should scooter myself it gets me out of the house I've got osteopenia & had blood clots so why not 👍
not uncool, very practical, and I would say that if you can eventually get the air filled tires type, the vibration going through your body should be significantly less. ( if you can maintain the same deck height, all the better)
I'm a fat guy and am looking to save money and get fit.
So I'm looking at getting a scooter and this video was helpful so thanks.
Thanks for your review!
more scooter reviews please
I live in the Greater Los Angeles area I rode 12 miles on my razor a5 air kick! i love it and i like exploring around town.
I got myself a scooter so I could ride with my little girl and it's great. I've never considered it as a commuter but it would probably be awesome. Scooters are for everyone! hahaha. Great review.
Nate those shots were beautifully done.
Thank you x
Very sturdy, and easy to clean.Excellent product
i just bought a scooter yesterday and it is awesome. i went with the air filled tyres and it fabulous. Good thing that Sydney isnt too hilly!!
just got my 7 yo a razor RDS. I got on it for 10 minutes and I am hooked. Got a 230 mm inflatable wheel coming its going to be fun! I hope lol
Best thing i ever bought . Rarely bother with the bike now a days . Do be booting around. So handy . Actuly love it 💯
I picked up a micro flex deck with air tyres for $8.
Ah, that brings me back to my scooter riding day as a young lad of five.
been wanting one of these
and im 6'10 i remember back in the 90s the hudge scooters
cant sk8te board or roller sk8te but these look easy to do and cheap!
might have to get one!
The bottom line is that bigger wheels usually mean higher decks.
i find myself chuckling a bit, but you point out good positives to this. i remember when i used to have one of those.
im also btw 30 and 40, today riding my new k.scooter got some attention from young teens (Baltic States) but who cares, as you say, i feel its very healthy- more than electric scooter, and w big wheels, quite comfortable and lies just in between walking and cycling time-wise! Go for it, its worth it!
Thanks to this video I have an Oxelo Town 9 and love riding it especially down hill !!
