- Here is the last piece of the puzzle. This was a great project and can easily be completed over a weekend if you have all the materials ready to go. I have listed below the materials I used. I tried to get everything from Bunnings as that's where the majority of people will most likely go and its less running round. I wasn't able to get the carpet from them as they had ran out everywhere I went.
Materials:
1x Sheet of Marine ply 2440x1220x12mm
1x Sheet MDF 1200x600x3mm
1x Dressed pine 184x19mm @1.8m
2x Angle brackets 40x80x40
Longer M6 bolts (to hold joiner down)
Washers for M6 bolts
Magnets for hatches
2x Flush mount handles
Carpet
Contact glue in spray can
I hope these videos have helped inspire you guys to go and make your own False floor. If you have any questions just pop them in the comments and I will do my best to help.
See you in the next one!
Subscribed because of these 3 videos. I've had my series 4 Y62 for 2 months now and am going to do a false floor on mine as well. Thanks for the inspiration.
Right that’s my Easter weekend project sorted! Hopefully it turns out as good as this
Ah awesome mate. Thanks heaps 🙏🏽 Gives you a good run at it doing it over the Easter weekend. If you have any questions just Tahiti them through and I will help out where I can.
@@TravelExplore4x4 floors done and dusted it came up a bloody treat! Did a few things slightly differently to yours but did follow the design fairly closely. Bloody stoked with the result
We have just watched your 3 part series and stocked with your finished product, definitely going to be making our own thanks to your videos. Keep the videos coming, awesome job 👍🏼
Thanks heaps bud. Glad to help out and stoked they helped. Will do 👊🏽
Thanks for the inspiration. After watching these vids I made my own.
Mate that’s awesome. Glad I was able to inspire you to have a crack. How did you go?
@@TravelExplore4x4 happy with the result. I made it 3 piece modular like yours so I can change the seats back in if needed. I plan to build drawers and a bed extension as well, so the floor is stage 1.
Great video. Be awesome to see how it all comes together. Keep them coming.
Thanks mate. Hopefully it was helpful. Definitely will 👍🏽
Great job, thanks for the excellent video 👌

Cheers mate. Hope it helps. I bet you can’t wait 😁 is it getting modded straight away
@@TravelExplore4x4 yeah, we need to set it up for towing an Offroad van around Australia!
@@GrabLifeByTheGourlays ah nice one mate. You guys travelling full time?
@@TravelExplore4x4 we hope you for a year or two!!
Awesome work mate, thanks for sharing. You by chance didn't happen to keep the cut out templates did you?
Cheers mate 👍🏽 I did originally but I have since gotten rid of it unfortunately
All good mate, great insporation, might try make this up. cheers
Thanks mate. I have watched this series 2 times now.
When you wrap the carpet over the edges. How did you get the kids to fit on nicely. Did you have to do any sanding/cutting on them given both lids and base were wrapped in carpet?
Great build, how long before you start your drawers
Thanks mate 👍🏽 actually working on them on Saturday. But doing something a bit different this time 😁
Where did you get the carpet and marine ply from?
I got the marine ply from Bunnings and the carpet from here 👉🏽 www.daleys.com.au/shop/carpet-flooring/automotive-carpet/custompile/
@@TravelExplore4x4 Thanks mate! What colour did you choose?
"Rolling Pin" use the can as a rolling pin
Haha it was too easy I didn’t think of that 🤦🏽♂️ will have to try that next time.
Sorry ignore. Just seen the answer haha
Hahah cool mate no dramas 😁
Hey mate. Hoping I could make a false floor one
day.
How did you get the initial curves? Having the board hard up against the trim and using the block with marker to go around it?
I like the idea of a bevel edge for the kids, but I don’t have the right tools to do it. 🤦🏻♂️
I’ll probably struggle to get the supports right though.
Also did you add another piece on the back of the seats? Cheers
Hey ken
I used some thin ply initial as it’s a lot easier and quicker to shape. And yeah I put the board close and then used a block as a spacer to help trace the shape. Then I fine tuned that as I went to make sure it was a snug fit.
The other section I added on to at the back of the seats is for my 12v system. You can see that in my other videos I have up.
