In the Chamber

Some of our favorite composers were inspired by the spirituality of the architecture of ancient Turkey (Ince’s Curve), “every possible technique for violin” (Christopher Cerrone, Violin Sonata), the dessert on a night-time freeway jaunt (Pierre Jalbert, “… an acknowledged chamber music master…” - the New Yorker, Trio) and musically magnetic forces (Caroline Mallonee, Unless Acted Upon). PM delivers the offerings of past commissioned composers (Michael Torke, PM commission, 1995; Christopher Cerrone, PM commission, 2015; Kamran Ince, multiple PM commissions) and more, connecting the lines between classical chamber groups and contemporary music.
Artistic director Kevin Stalheim states, “For our chamber concerts, each musician’s performance becomes extremely intense and more personal. Combining this intensity with the closeness and intimacy of several small performance spaces always results in a very powerful experience for the musicians and the audience.”
