I grew up in this neighborhood and so did my mom. the only stores they have is Target in the front and BP in the back. They used to have a Police department but they disbanded a while ago and now they have west Melbourne serving them. The cop cars you see just sitting are dummy cars they just park them so make people think there is a cop watching. at 4:06 that nature trail if you walk that about 1/4 of the way there is a huge tree. My mom told me that a boy drown in the community pool and he was buried underneath that tree. 6:38 if you take that trail on the right out of camera view that will take you behind all the homes on west pine. I lived in one of those houses so that trail there was kinda like my back yard. You can also take it to the end of west pine and also can take it to idlewilde cir which was the hood back in the day. 6:55 at the end of Sheridan rd on the left is the exit to that trail I mentioned at 4:06. Another exit for that same trail at 7:28. Where ever you see those white poles thats a nature trail. 7:58 that dirt road if you take it to the end of the canal has huge bass great fishing spot. 8:59 that stop sign on your right was the bus stop pick up. The bus would circle around and pick all the other kids up and come out the same way. So I was purposely late for the bus because I knew I could just get picked up at the other stop sign lol. Trail at 9:47 will take you all the way down and out at the city hall. There is also a lake back there that used to have fish in it. 10:06 another trail on the right that leads to behind those houses I mentioned earlier. 10:22 those two house in view there are the houses I grew up in. 10:42 the trail on the right is another exit from behind all those houses. My wife and her brothers used to live on the other street idlewilde and we used that trail to get back and forth. Me and her brother actually got jumped right there by those white posts. He got a broken jaw my tooth went thru my lip and we had another kid with us but it was like 3 vs 6 or 7 so we didnt stand a chance. 12:19 is another exit for the trail I mentioned at 4:06. at 12:29 on the right is another trail exit for the one I mentioned with the lake. You didnt show and of back of Melbourne Village Theres like a whole other section in the back. The back has the best trails.
Thanks for sharing all that great history. Thanks for pointing that out all the gems I missed. I wish I had met you earlier; it would have been wonderful to have you show me around. Someone who didn't want to be on camera mentioned that some strange things go on in Melbourne Village but didn't elaborate. I dismissed it as gossip and ignored the theory. One day, I'd love to come back, walk those trails, and explore all the nature.
