I would recommend you stay in standard tuning on the guitar if you are new to harmonica and want to incorporate it with your guitar.... and if you like A & G, play in first position ( key of G on the guitar, G on the Harp etc). I have a B harp. I was at the music store and it was the only one there that I didn't have, so I bought it. Turns out, it's handy for playing the lead guitar part on Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

But the one question I cannot get an answer to is ,
How does Canned Heat get that high note in their song ,
“On the Road Again “ ?
I’ve heard that they modified individual reeds inside of the harp. And kept certain ones for certain songs.
A very few guys talk about it on chat platforms and almost no videos from players know
And no one plays it like the record on that one note in the lick.

@@robinhood480 an interesting question that I have never really thought about nor know the answer too, however, I am always interested in the harmonica journey so i did some research. I play a lot fo songs in A minor, with electric guitar, noodling over Am pentatonic. I'd like to add in a harmonica...so what key harmonica do you recommend?
Should I get a harmonica in D (4th note in scale of A)?

Using a C harp or a G harp will mean you will achieve some nice melodic stuff over Am pent. good luck.

Hi there I play acoustic guitar But play in C so top E string I drop to C, B string I drop down to G and so on Bottom E to C. I love playing Neil young songs like needle and the damage , old man. Do you know what key harmonica would work well please in this tunning

I'm not sure what tuning you are using, but if it's some kind of drop / open C, then a C harp and a F harp should work.
