Healthy Church: Humble & Teachable

On Sunday we continued our series about being a Healthy Church. 1 Timothy 2 is a challenging text so it's important that we take the following interpretative steps. 1) Considering the book as a whole, 2) Considering broader scripture, and 3) Looking what we know about the history of the time and place. These insights help us paint a better picture than just grabbing a verse or two out of context. The fist thing we see is the importance of prayer when dealing with difficult matters. We should be praying not attacking each other or leaders. Secondly, before we can lead, we must be teachable. In this instance Paul is specifically addressing some women who were causing trouble in the church, but the principles apply to us all. Are we being "Humble & Teachable" so that we can become the leaders God has called us to be?
