If the clay is crumbley I use baby oil, just a dab on the tip of my finger and it revives it. Cheaper way to color clay is chalk, works great and cheaper than mica. If you want to use a cookie cutter or knife and it sticks try rubbing a touch of corn starch on top and it will release easily. Just a few tricks and hints
If you use mineral oil your clay won't smell like a baby's bottom. Definitely use a pipette and only a few drops. 3 drops is normal plenty for a 2 oz block. You can also dip your cutters into water and they won't stick. Corn starch works but can dry out your clay. Now is a fantastic time to buy chalk because the stores want to get rid of it untill next summer.
Great job Steve!!! Thanks for mentioning me!!! I much prefer resin to varnish also. If u get pieces too thick they sand easily so that's what I do when I get pieces a little too thick. Try the method of chopping a color up...adding acrylic paint to coat the pieces....adding some liquid clay then squish it all back together. Cut slices and roll out ....then cut ur pieces out and bake. These always turn out great. Get some translucent clay and have a play with alcohol inks with it. That always turns out well too. Also roll out some white clay...play with alcohol inks on the surface....then cut out ur pieces....always show stoppers.... especially if u add some metallic inks on there too!!
Those are really cool! I never thought of coloring the clay with mica. I'll have to try that. I love the twisted ones and the earrings that you modeled!
i have tons of cutters. i love sculpys cutters but you can use cookie cutters, etc. amazon has some inexpensive cutters. you can also use alcohol inks to color your clay..glitter..glow powders etc. ive really gotten into clay lately. i use cosclay as my go to, but also sculpy.
The long ovals you put the uv resin on....looks like the melting clock. That would be interesting to see....to make a clock then stretch it to make it look like it's meeting.
Love any polymer clay tips! Very nice ideas here. You'd laugh if you say me now, as I've been sorting and repackaging my micas and glitters. My cat and I are both very sparkly, as are the curtains, the furniture and the air conditioner intake vent.😂😂😂
I have cutters of all sorts but wow Steve!!! I love them all so much they turned out so good. Thank you for your amazing videos I love watching and listening to you while I work. Lots of love from down under xo
TurtleSoup Beads and SunDIY do some amazing tutorials with mica and clay. They (a long with Steve) are my top 10 go-to channels 💞 Also, you can use Pledge Floor Wax for a gorgeous finish as well 😉
Excellent advice I was going to tell Steve about the same 2 polymer clay artist. And I have used Pledge floor wax on my items for about 30 years now. You can also feel free to ask me any questions Steve.
Steve your raindrop shaped earings are way to thick. You only need 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch for earings. You can use a lint free cotton square with nail polish remover on it to remove any finger prints from your clay. E6000 works great if you want to add earings posts. You may want to put your clay in a bowl or on a tray. If you warm it to much you will have clay that acts like soft serve ice-cream 🍦 The clay will cure at ~ 275° F or 130°C so anything lower than that will definitely soften your clay nicely 😉

You use that resin machine for everything. I am waiting for you to make cupcakes in it.
Polymer clay warmed in resin curing magic cabinet. BEST idea ever! GENIUS!
Would sparkled powder eyeshadow work with this? . I have used it in paintings where i wanted highlights.
Thank you for showing this for polymer clay and mica.

Mica powder on clay is great i like it way better than painting the pieces after baked or even using the colored clays
Love the dangly earrings! Of course its probably how they are modeled😊
Try adding metallic foil flakes to the mix. Thanks for experimenting for us!
I use chalk to color my clay

Darn strait! That clamp on the pasta machine isn’t very tough at all! I also have to use an extra clamp on mine!!!
Have you seen the resin video where the guy drops UV resin in a glass of dish soap ??? Beautiful results

Hi Steve, Loved them all it would be cool if you made a bracelet To go with them in the same clay ❤️👍
What temperature and for how long did you bake in oven ? Thank you these are brilliant
Baby oil is nothing more than lightweight mineral oil with some fragrance added to it. Mineral oil is considerably cheaper.

they remind me of Native American art, very pretty, and earthy tones. hmm, I may need to dig out my clay again. like you, I've had mixed results.
I use cookie cutters they cheap and you can get them in loads shapes and sizes.
When I use my clay I use a pizzas cutter wheel.
