Wow! Very extensive review and quite helpful! I love watching your videos, Susan. They are top-notch and very professional. Please keep up the excellent work!
Susan, thanks for such a comprehensive product comparison. I have the Pearl-Ex powders in the small pots and I have the Metallic Lustre pastes and love them both. I am always in search of the ultimate silver effect, so your video has provided lots of valuable information for consideration. Thanks for all you do.
Hello Susan I want you to know that all of the time, thought and work you put in to you videos is really appreciated I hope you get as much joy doing them as we love watching them. BTW really envious of your work studios just like a fairytale thanks for sharing them with us.
Wonderful video as all of them are...such beautiful work and awesome information...thank you for all your time in sharing what you know and presenting your beautiful work. You share so much useful knowledge...i ❤️ listening! 💕👍🏻 Jocelyn
Min again. Susan, I hope that Amazon is rewarding you for all the business that you are sending their way. I clicked on your link & ordered the mica powders & low & behold they arrived today. Yay! They are lovely & an incredible variety. I can't wait to try them. Thank you so much for the lead.
This was really helpful. Thanks for your concise presentation. I appreciate the time and effort you put into this video and all the videos that you do. I a HUGE fan!
Holy cow. I ordered the 36 colors of mica powder from the link on Amazon you gave. I love love love working with mica powder from the little bags they come in. The mica powder itself is fantastic. Like you I wasn't thrilled with the pinks in this set but I have other pink mica powders that are much more vibrant. That said the pinks that came with this set is beautiful for making things you want that antique-y look. Thank you SO much for this video. It's a treasure trove of information.. but your videos always are.
Thank you so much for show and tell! Your talented lady! I just received my mica powders from your links. There's a awesome variety of color and the price was affordable. Thank you so much!!!
thank you for sharing this. I always love how you use these products, but I never have and when I shop sometimes I am just not sure what would be best. Now I have your feedback on many options so this will be a good reference.
Brilliant tutorial Susan; thank you so much for your time, energy and creative knowledge that you constantly share so freely. You are truly inspiring. xxx
I love all the videos you give us Susan, and I don't even work with polymer clay. If I ever want to take up the craft, I will have a leg up on what to do and expect thanks to you.
Refinery 29 did a really informative video about the way mica is mined. I have a million eyeshadows so I can't judge using mica, but I love that I can use the overly shiny ones or those iridescent peacock colors on clay! I love your videos.
Great review and I really appreciated seeing the products on both the black and scrap clays. As I noted on another of your videos, I am just starting out with polymer clay. Your “hack” videos, your clay mixing videos (for color and adding glitter or pearl clay) and these product videos have really helped me in building the tools to do the things I want to do and helping me stay within a reasonable budget. It is so easy to go overboard! I have been using old eyeshadows in place of mica powders and did buy some at our local 99cent store, while trying to decide what other products I might want to purchase in the future. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge and opinions about some of these products. I really loved you sharing how the different treatments looked on both black and scrap clay. I will be looking forward to your future videos!
I just got hooked on Pan Pastels and I don't think I knew they had metallic. I loved those mica flake powders- I think Carnivale? - so gorgeous. I've also had my Pearl Ex for close to 20 years. I've even tried to use it liberally and even with spilling them, they last for-ev-er. Thanks for the info! Gotta make my wish list!
Thank you for your review. This is a great help, as you say so many to choose from. Thank you for labeling them all as well. Going to go back and write down the right colors I need to buy.. no suprise for me.. *grin*
Hi Susan, Great review and thanks for the work that goes into trying and labeling everything! I am a fan of pearl ex, but it is nice to know that there are other alternatives. Enjoy your Memorial day weekend!!
you really did your homework, on this subject. My Honeybee was saying mica and I was surprised to know that she knew what that was. Lol I guess they do learn alot on the internet. 🤔 great video!💙🐝💙
I think I will dive into my "two faced" eyeshadows. I bought several 7-8 years ago and never really used them. They are beautiful colors and very pigmented. But they are very expensive for what you get.
Thanks for all of your hard work & review. It was very informative. Did you apply the mica powders with a brush, finger or did you blend them into the clay? Thanks again.
Wow! This is an incredibly in-depth review! Thank you! Just an fyi, I've ordered the Born Pretty pigments from Aliexpress and while they still come from China, I received them in about three weeks.
Sally, how were your pots of Born Pretty? I ordered some from Ebay which came in the same pots that Susan showed and the amount of powder was so miniscule that I was a bit put out. They were more like samples than product for usage.
It’s so funny, I can never hear your puppy snoring over the sound of my Bulldog Belle snoring! She sounds like an over weight 80 years old person who smoked their whole life and was just diagnosed with sleep apnea. She is terrible!
Thank you! Ordered the 36 set! Also Susan, have you ever or would you like to try mica in its raw form? I have collected about a cup of mica we found in some crushed granite stone. I'd love to share some with you.
Hi Susan thanks for your wonderful tutorials. A question about when to apply the mica powder, can you apply on baked clay, and if so, do you use glue to make it stick?? Take care, Pilar
I am a newbie and have subscribed to your wonderfully knowledgeable channel. I am about to purchase some FIMO clay and realize there are (2) two types: Soft and Effect. Which one do you recommend?
Great tutorial - as usual. Have you ever painted clay after baking? I'm thinking if I used black spray paint on scrap clay the the interference powder would work. Just not sure if it would peel - but I think it might hold the paint well - anybody out there paint their cured clay?
@@dianae.8192 thank you - i actually thought that spray paint may not be the best for the powder to stick to a flat acrylic would probably work much better!
Grandma, I spray painted some cured clay using gold Krylon and then sealed it with a brush-on acrylic and so far, it has lasted. I did this on some earrings about 3 years ago that I wear frequently and the finish has been very durable. Hope this helps.
Hello, I’m new to your channel, that dragon scale bead (?) instantly caught my eye, did you say you have a video/tutorial for that? I’ve been looking for it, and not having any luck. But I get confused by the search methods on here! 😂 I would love to see how you made it. I have lots of micas, even duochrome mica powders, and mica flakes, (those are so messy!) I do resin work, that’s why I have lots of micas. Been wanting to get into the polymer clay scene!!
Ive Just bought a tonne of premo & pearlex pigment, I am wondering, is it all the “interference” in all brands of colour only good for black clay? It doesn’t matter to me, I don’t think I bought those but would like to know for future reference.
I wonder what type (brand) of pasta machine you use Susan? All that I have looked at purchasing on Amazon do not have very good reviews. Does anyone have recommendations?
I noticed you didn’t include Guilder’s Paste. Mine dried out real soon. Do you know how to rejuvenate them? Are they not good to use? Thanks for all the info.

I just purchased some Born Pretty powders, a set of 8, from Amazon Prime. I got them in two days...
That's great they're beautiful
Thank you for the review. Very helpful. I have been wondering about some of those products but with money being tight afraid to buy and try .
Some of these products are really expensive and they make you pay for way more product that you could ever use .

Late to this video but taking dirty/muddy looking clay and making them into jewels? Stunning, these would be great as buttons or studs

Excellent video. I learned a lot! Question... have you done a video on baking times and temperatures? Would love to see one.
No because polymer clay tutor has that video out

Hi Susan thanks for your wonderful tutorials. A question about when to apply the mica powder, can you apply on baked clay, and if so, do you use glue to make it stick?? Take care, Pilar
You would have to add varnish to the mica powder after it’s baked
Thank you for the review.

I have a question - I would like to make a very rustic, organic bead. How would you go about making it? Also, can you bake polymer clay onto wood?
This was a great review, thank you! I really loved this video.
Edit: What did you use to put your samples on?
Just card stock

Yes, I have "stained" a fairy door after baking using black acrylic paint and it did fine. I wiped off the excess and left the paint in the crevices.

Susan have you considered using synthetic mica powder most of the natural mica come from child labor in India the documentarys broke my heart.
