  • Casa F sees Williams Burton Leopardi seamlessly marry old and new elements whilst integrating bespoke moments throughout that allow for easy family living. The Mediterranean dream house is designed to age and grow with the occupants, as family lies at the centre of this residence - a sentiment exemplified by the architecture, interior design and landscape. The house tour shows Williams Burton Leopardi thoughtfully blending existing and contemporary elements with a combined sense of elegance, functionality and comfort.
    The layout of the Mediterranean dream house is defined by the openness felt between spaces and across thresholds. Located in Adelaide, Australia, typified by bluestone buildings with bay windows, Williams Burton Leopardi renovates the home without neglecting its original charm. As the clients are of Italian descent, a Mediterranean dream house centred on plenty of outdoor space, areas of retreat, sharing food and encouraging togetherness prevails. Central to this idea is the way the design follows a ‘town square’ arrangement between the main home and the pavilion.
    Considered additions in terms of furnishings and materiality evoke a softness and understatement that encourages relaxation in the Mediterranean dream house. The house tour shows Williams Burton Leopardi taking inspiration from the existing fabric of the home - a palette of natural materials such as washed oak flooring and natural stone. Furniture follows a restrained approach, inspiring a sense of retreat within.
    Light and views are also now part of the fabric of the previously dark and enclosed home. Views outward have been framed at every opportunity; for instance, through the new pivot door that looks out to an existing tree and the restored fence beyond. Williams Burton Leopardi cleverly filters northern light into the home through new screens and a beautiful vine, which allows dappled light to dance across surfaces. Bedrooms and front spaces receive soft southern light, imbuing these areas with calmness and tranquility.
    Casa F is a renovation made up of many layers, both new and existing. It is the rejuvenation and extension of this home that allows these elements to coalesce into a cohesive, functional and elegant Mediterranean dream house.

    Very tasteful combining of design elements. Far to many projects fall short for the input expended, this home reflects the high competency of the designers.

    All of this works together so well - the heritage home flowing into the new addition, the new addition opening into the backyard and how the backyard is landscaped and integrated into this property. Interiors are very well done. I like the kitchen with a combination of marble and tile - I haven't seen that often and it works well. The backyard is the star, though. I can see an outdoor oven and kitchen, there is a dining table, there is a pool, beautiful plants and even a lawn. It feels much bigger than it is.

    Stunning home. Love the blend of old and new and that kitchen is just a dream. Would love to have seen where they hid the detritus of 3 kids as we all know the paraphernalia that kids bring with them and they don't live in showhomes like this one without some mess somewhere.

    Derest architect family Leopardi,
    this is simply breathtaking and dramatic architecture construction and not overbuilt. All artist's vision of interior space is very clear focuse. Informal devided living space provides the value of collaboration design. Whole idea is marvelous in the outstanding location Kaurna. Harmony and softness is achieved without robust design. Vision of garden, bounded on the boath sides, gives inovation in the classic Mediterrane lifestyle. Also reference the continuing history of the site Idea of concealment of the elements with natural elements like natural stone and special kind of oak is composed so stylish but also functional! Old and new materials are bring into eyes with every filters of light. The plan arragement of the house gives modern divided "lean-to" Mediterrane form. BE PROUD

    Beautiful house and comfortable. One observation is that these houses can sometimes be overly staged for videos, which, in the process, diminishes the 'homely' feel and creates more of a museum-like atmosphere, designed to showcase all the intricate design elements. This isn't a criticism since I understand that the goal is to highlight the architectural aspects, but it would be great to see a 'real-life' home with less meticulously arranged shots and fewer staged elements. Let's be a bit messy and unorganized at times.

    There is so much of the living area and barely any of the bathrooms, bedrooms and other areas. When there is just a close-up shot of the bathroom without enough context and surrounding shots, you can't get an idea of how it all fits together.

    What is the reason and meaning behind saying "the house sits on the traditional lands of the Kaurna people"? Does it mean the land is being contractually leased (like a leasehold) for a period of time from the Kaurna people? #PleaseEducateMe

    • @lordnass381
      @lordnass381 9 місяців тому +3

      it is a means of acknowledging and respecting the indigenous owners of the land. the Kaurna people, who lived there for 60,000 years before British settlement.

    • @msinbalony
      @msinbalony 9 місяців тому

      Funny. Talk about crap. Well, let me educate you, GERRARD . NO ONE is the owner of ANY piece of land. If anything, the land owns you. You are a piece of dirt that will reunite with the earth in about 80 years, and it will be here long before you and long after you... so.. lil bit of humbleness, ya?.. And usually, this is something that indigenous people understand quite deeply, actually. @@xoxoops

    Really appreciated the design principals - especially the functionality and the use of color. However, maybe it's just me, but the place seems disproportionately big and as a result not cozy. I'm sure they 1000% responded to the brief, but it comes across a bit trendy and...soulless...maybe?

    I feel like Mediterranean is a hype word that designers like to throw around especially lately.. like "indoor outdoor living".. I live in Israel.. we are by the Mediterranean sea, and there is nothing similar in this house to a typical Israeli house (if there is such a thing). But also Lybia.. Greece.. Lebanon.. Egypt.. all of them are by the Mediterranean and this is not really reflective of their style.. so..

    “Mediterranean dream house” - where did that come from?? Marketing BS or architect BS not sure which. I live in the Mediterranean and this house does not look even remotely of this region.

  • @retrospective77
    @retrospective77 9 місяців тому +51

    There's nothing remotely Mediterranean about the house. It's lavish, opulent and over the top, the exact opposite of a what one would consider a home on the Med.

    • @mrvk39
      @mrvk39 9 місяців тому +8

      what's "lavish" and "over the top" there? I think what's "mediterranean" about it isn't the house itself (I agree there is nothing Mediterranean about it) but the internal courtyard - how the house kind of wraps around it? It's similar to these internal courtyards of traditional Roman homes. At least, this is what I got out of it.

    • @user-xf2ps8qv7e
      @user-xf2ps8qv7e 9 місяців тому +6

      There's nothing over the top if we are talking about wealthy houses.
      The house copies typical Mediterranean features but in the same time looks modern and fancy. The result looks unique and the owner likes it. So what are you crying about?

      I think that’s just the channel’s title for the video. The architects just referred to the family wanting to reflect a Mediterranean lifestyle. They never claim the house itself is Mediterranean in style. On a side note if you have been to coastal Italy, France, Spain, Croatia, there are plenty of lavish and opulent over the top homes there.
