Something about this video makes me incredibly uncomfortable. 😭I don't know if it's the music, the dark spaces, the odd layout, or the fact everyone is wearing head to toe Black.. but something inside me is discomfited. I love when things veer off normal, but I can't put my finger on what's causing the discordant ping here. Am I the only one?
"Large empty void" are words the architect uses. I guess it also describes why I don't like this one. It doesn't feel like a "home", a place to live. To me it gives quite the distopian building of bleak walls, empty rooms. Maybe the feeling of a modern museum. It definitely feels coherent and "artsy" but I wouldn't want to live in it. Thankfully, I enjoy most other houses shown here on this channel a lot :)
The tall walls with rugged honest materials, moody lighting style and open courtyard with the outdoor fireplace really come together to make this house feel like a modern version of an ancient temple, its beautiful! ♥
Absolutely stunning home , I could easily see myself relaxing and enjoying the calm and peaceful surroundings. I really love the dark and light aspect of the home. I have tried the same thing in my home with the use of very dark walls. Thanks for sharing.
It's like entering another world, beautiful! I loved the moody but still clean and minimalistic look. The inner courtyard is brilliant. I would have liked to see the interior with the lights on to see how the lights play off the space and how it feels then.
It reminds me of RCR architects... it is a singular house for a very singular end user. I am sure that there is more or maybe I am wrong, but for the whole entire 7 minutes of footage, I have only seen the patio.
If you have an Italian inspired home, most probably, it is more of like a serious and sophisticated layout and automatically give you a sense of professionalism. 👏🏼👏🏼
I absolutely LOVE this project! As an introvert this warms all corners of my heart. I would be honored to call a place like this home. I can see how its absolute departure from established values of normalcy could cause aversion in many… and I’ll have to look at the comments in a year or so to see if I’m right. But this project def has a community of people who would be enamored… and I’m it’s chairman
The funniest part of the whole presentation was when they were walking through the empty room (minute 5:40) and he talks about there "being a bit of a misconception about the idea in general of minimalism, because it's often associated with a kind of sterile environment". Hahahahaha! :) A sterile environment? In this black, dark, empty concrete and steel house? Surely, you jest! Bet the neighbors love it, though.
In general cool and very graphic, puristic idea, but with several mistakes: too dark inside - light tunnels would help; the courtyard is too small, feels like a jail - more green and water would help; the fireplace is not working - smoke spreads around, cause it is a closed square, no airflow. I think this lot is too small for such a design idea.
This *unexpectedly* reminded me of the old traditional houses of the North and Central of my homeland - Vietnam! My people don't have much, so the "beautiful/glamorous decorations" of our houses would the structure and layout of the house itself! And skylight in the middle of the house (or in some cases of upper class family: _houseS_ ) carries in very important fong sui aspect in traditional Vietnamese architecture.
The problem with most architects is they are delusional about their role: architects are NOT artists. This building has a distinct contemporary art installation vibe, not unlike some of the darker works by Miroslaw Balka or Anish Kapoor for example, but it falls terribly short as a home. It's dark, gloomy, bleak, and inhospitable. The shadowy atmosphere it inspires might perhaps be apt for a spa or a contemplation space, but to live in a box of alienating darkness such as this could be emotionally challenging if not depressing. This project does not reflect the intent of a designer to provide an enjoyable space in which people would actually be willing to live, instead, it's a mere representation of the architect's ego.
It seems that security and privacy were the major objectives of the home owner and therefore also the Architect. In the world we live in it's unfortunately a necessary concern. Variations in design with the same objective could be more marketable. Also, consider a music selection that does not compete with voice of the narrator.
4:43 gave me anxiety. This indeed is a house, not a home. The artistic side is really interesting and loved by me but not my type of place to live in, also the way doors open from out of nowhere is extremely interesting but it will take me forever to remember where is the door and the way I'll just get hit by the door opening on my face is too funny in my imagination
It is thrilling to see the work of Morq here. I have been following, loving and referencing their work for a little while now. The firm's website has a very edited amount of images. So I have so far found that the best source to see all the beautiful details is Divisare. So now, on this platform there is video!! Thank you so much to everyone of all the teams at The Local Project and at Morq for collaborating on showing this extraordinary project. Cudos to the contractors and artisans and a big shout out to Vitrocsa who pull off a remarkable sensibility here. I once had a professor of architecture who would say, "The integrity of and architecture is inversely proportional to the width of its molding" it was never truer here. Whoever has not worked in this minimal construction oevre has little idea how painstaking the details are to achieve. So its thanks to a firm like Morq that make it look effortless, like magic. Congratulations !!!!!
I found this to be depressing. There are no windows, just internal courtyard with 3 tiny palm trees, and you see no nature at all, all rooms are very dark, all bedrooms have prison-like feeling to them. It's not about the minimalism of it but about lacking views and light. I guess, 'the need for privacy" was taken to its extreme here and i didn't find it appealing at all. However, there were some dramatic shots - i particularly liked how the windows opened to the library 4:32 and the texture of that wall and that tall shower with what looks to be a skylight above 4:40. I even liked that rusting color scheme but overall it was too dark to be enjoyed. I guess I would enjoy visiting this house if it was hosting some sort of an art event (the space is just made for it) and then leaving it.
“What is this world? What have they done to us?” Dark sterile villain house. Imagine living on that block; “oh look hun, new neighbors. Wonder what they’re gonna do with the Millers house.” Boom! Wrecking ball. Up goes a concrete bunker…in a damn quaint suburb
I love love to witness more of his work. His use of the material on this project sparked an idea of what architecture means to the average person with respect to sustainability.
Privacy at its finest! They could have added transom or skylight to add natural light at the corners. Firewall on all 3 sides , provides privacy from neighboring areas, also ideal for small lot properties!
looks cool but definetly does not look liveable. For example what was that outdoor scene at the fireplace, in which real life scenario people would just stand around like that in a place like that without feeling anxious?
I love the minimalism. I love the materials used. I'm not in love with the narrow halls and confined bathrooms - but it was a wonderfully executed vision. My favorite part was the open living room with minimal furnishings. I would love to have a living room like that. Beautiful videography as always.
See how taste is something that varies so much from person to person...This was the most horrible house ever featured in this channel and I believe also in anywhere ever in the whole internet. Actually it doesn't even look like a house but instead a dark dungeon where some multi-billionaire lives and store people that he often torture for self amusement. I can totally see Sundar Pichai living in a place like that making plans to perfect some AI to be more effective on destroying humanity. haha
that;s because there is basically no furniture on display - once you add in rugs, curtains, plants, and associated furniture it would soften the look of the space significantly.
Moroccan style courtyard houses are. my favourite. This is like a modern version of it. I would change the furniture or add cosy furniture and put lots of plants in and the house is perfect.
Fulfilling the client brief… of ‘Locking and Leave’. That’s why the house is designed in such way. Is it the house/ or the video .. its feels like a set in REM ‘losing my religion’ music video
I did not like this house unlike most of the ones featured in the channel. Too dark, too moody, overengineered, narrow corridors... The fire looks like a complete disaster, with the smoke spreading everywhere...
this house tour feels different in the best way possible. the fact that it's not just an empty shell but is instead inhabited and alive with the vibrant presence of people adds a delightful layer to the entire viewing experience. it doesn't only take the aesthetics into consideration; it's about the living, breathing essence that makes this home feel truly alive and inviting.
Fantastic!!! The result is equal parts austere place of worship, weathered Moroccan madrasa and modern loft. Loved the way the music played into the mood of the visuals as well. Great work MORQ and thank you TLP!
Wow. An amazing house. It had an otherworldly quality that felt anywhere but the suburbs of an Australian city. Congratulations on a well designed an executed sanctuary. The soundtrack perfectly suited the dwelling.

Well said!
wow thank you for showing me 'purity' in a home! just stunning so many great ideas thank you for inspiring me here in milwaukee!!
It finally happened, a property that I don't particularly like. Nice materials but its too stark and uninviting for my tastes.
A somber fortress, certainly. Why shun the light?

This house would feel at home in the Dune universe

Gorgeous home. Feels like a modern day sanctuary, challenges the idea of the 'traditional home'
Now we are talking ARCHITECTURE! Incredibly insane. Italy.

Beautiful concept, but more for a gallery or museum, than a house.
The big house I love the design the windows are big

Oui, bien d’accord, je trouve ce lieu angoissant et morbide, déshumanisé 😢
I love the music .. not this house:(
Corten steel - that's what that weathered steel that only rusts on the surface creating that iron-y patina is called.
I'm surprised how Claremont council accepted such design in the neighborhood.
That villian just chillin

a very blunt insertion to the neighbourhood. It is a fairly selfish entity, not untypical of the haves vs the have nots.

No nature, no light. Max security prison vibes... I'd be scared to drop the soap in this place
Dark sterile house with no light. Terrible music choice. Who is producing these videos recently? It seems like there was a staff change.
EXACTLY! What are these houses they’re doing now?? There always ends up being a push to ultra modern in all these channels. Why?
Who's done with box "house" like this? It's so blah. So uninspiring.
This house sucks. Amazing library but the rest of the house is a prison cell
Beautiful home but I would prefer some earthy texture to the grey concrete walls.
