I was a very early fan of Cath Kidston and made a special trip from the Midlands to her original London shop, relying heavily on my London A-Z to find my way. Completely starstruck when I realised Cath herself was standing by the till, chatting to the cashier whilst making a point of welcoming me into the shop. I bought a peg bag in what I think was an original 50s fabric. And Cath (and Stanley) are the reason we've had Lakeland Terriers ever since! An absolute icon ❤
I also had a Cath Kidston peg bag and loved it. I bought it back to Australia with me when I moved from London. Sadly the harsh Australian sun wasn’t kind to it.
What a lovely, light and color filled home. I admire when someone goes for what makes them happy and not following trends. It looks so comfortable and welcoming.
I am a former bookseller and I love to read but I disagree: just keep the books you really liked and/or the one you will read again. The rest should be donated or given to friends etc. Nobody needs shelves of books that only catch dust.....books contain wisdom and new perspectives that should be shared with others..
@@santacruz7455how engaging to read this philosophy to which I can relate - upon moving, our wall to wall, floor to ceiling bookshelves dismantled, books sold or donated, it is so freeing, only a few reread, even cookery books to Oxfam bookshop, our cooking styles, ingredients, appetities even, evolved, changed, refined, as our sensibilities, now in a town with an excellent library, bookshops, also stopped randomly purchasing books from charity shops, now they are so expensive! as we found we were reading and returning anyway. Great post santacruz!
I love this home, so cheerful and bright. I think the magic of creating a home is to curate it with things that you love, and that is so evident here. What a lovely woman too, her voice is like honey, and I would love to listen to her read me a book.
What a beautiful home full of personality and warmth. A beautiful surprise around every corner. Very pleased you shared this with the World. Thank you!
I agree. I so admire this clever lady. Have you heard her being interviewed by Matt Gibberd on The Modern House podcast? Such a delightful insight to her life.
Somehow, nearly every ‘Design notes’ video gets added to my favorite homes playlist. Always a treat! I adore how she plays with pattern and color, old and new🤌🏼
What a gorgeous house! I could literally move in tomorrow and not feel the need to change a thing (other than bring my books in, they are like my children!)
I love her, and her style. She's so authentic, and even now you can see how her brand was an extension of her own personal style. I have had the pleasure to work for Cath Kidston, and found her to be the most wonderful, and kind person. A beautiful home ❤💙
dear Cath. please consider my request to work for free at your home as chef, housekeeper, and lady in waiting, and what have you. my god, your taste is impeccable and sense of color and whimsy is bar none. this was such a treat to behold. thanks H and G for this beauteous episode!
There’s so much negativity in the world but when a new design notes vid comes up it’s just so exciting. What a beautifully pretty home. So many gorgeous colours & furnishings. Especially the pretty pink bedroom. So soothing. I have a similar colour kitchen. So pleasant to be around. Lovely idea having those lamps in the bathroom. Great garden too. 🌸💞
So so good. I’m dying to see what she makes to cover the tv 👀 Her use of color throughout is incredible and I love how she mixes different styles to create a personal look and that garden!
❤I must have paid for at least one of these rooms from the amount of Cath Kidston products I purchased over the years 😅 From the navy and white polka dot day bag I took to work each day to the beautiful rose print hand luggage I enjoy packing for trips away! I've just returned from a trip to London and spent an hour in Notting Hill. I took my most recent CK purchase with me- a zip round 2 part toilet bag which was as practical as it was beautiful- my favourite thing about all things Cath kidston was/is their functionality whilst bringing beauty to the every day. This is beginning to sound like one of the many reviews I would write on the CK website 🤗 But yes, I was a superfan and not surprisingly I also love William Morris, Liberty and Laura Ashley designs as well. Really miss the Cath Kidston stores- the Edinburgh George Street, Cheltenham and York stores were my favourite! Surprisingly Caths home is not greatly to my taste- I prefer a very clean Scandinavian palette with only a few floral cushions, paintings. However I would love to have popped in for a chat and to thank Cath for all her pretty designs over the years❤
It looks lovely, though somehow I expected a more 1950s vibe, going by the Cath Kidston shops! Unusual to have the living room beneath the kitchen, but gives good access to her garden
When I was a student on my way to pay my electric bill I came home with a victorian mahogany wardrobe (14 pounds = same as bill then ! those were the days ! 70's ) ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, a few months later it was a mahogany hall mirror ! On another occasion the choice between buying in food or the biscuit porcelain bust of Dante ended up almost a tie, then Dante won. Story of my life.
Wow. What a beautiful place. Someone should make a playlist of home tours by previous designers employed by Nicky Haslam. They are always so unique and lovely. Cath, Beata Heuman and Natalie Tredgett all have amazing tours on UA-cam and they all worked for Nicky Haslam. Do you know of any others?
wow if those walls could speak past and present truly, if I had that house I would never leave it' it's so inviting and magical l for sure be loving IT , thank you for sharing your house with us all , co,Tiobraid Árann lreland 🇮🇪 ☘ SHALOM 😊

Yes! I drove across London to her original shop - met her and Stanley. Bought a blousy cabbage rose duvet set. Pilgrimage!
I miss the original shops and products!
I wish the editing wasn’t so frantic as soon as you try to focus the next shot is up ! There was so much to see in this gorgeous home
I agree, gorgeous home but editing doesn’t allow us to enjoy it. @HouseAndGardenMagazineUK please take note.
What a lovely, light and color filled home. I admire when someone goes for what makes them happy and not following trends. It looks so comfortable and welcoming.
Pure happiness, the colors, the garden, the pops of blue in the kitchen and that red bed! Swoon worthy!
"A house that isn't full of books doesn't feel like home." Agree ❤️
Only IF they have been read
Our history is a complete lie so therefore our books 📚 are 📚🧐💯

The proof that «a pop of red» really works ! Beautiful !
Even makes it sexy at some points 😊

Wow! Utterly beautiful, I could move in tomorrow and never change a thing! Love how light every room is but there is still so much colour. Wonderful

"A house without books doesn't feel like home." so true.
A lot less busy than I was expecting from Cath Kidston. Feels lovely and calm ❤
What a gorgeous house! I could literally move in tomorrow and not feel the need to change a thing (other than bring my books in, they are like my children!)
Eeek! So exciting to see her gorgeous house! Legend!
Beautiful…I had to watch the video twice to take it all in!
i could watch it at half speed - it's really one of my favorite homes i've seen on youtube!
I love her, and her style. She's so authentic, and even now you can see how her brand was an extension of her own personal style. I have had the pleasure to work for Cath Kidston, and found her to be the most wonderful, and kind person. A beautiful home ❤💙
Just beautiful.... airy, colorful and well appointed.
Cath Kidston speaks to me. Books, plants and flowers with colour as the punctuation. Wonderful home.
Love love love! CK designs has had perhaps the biggest influence on recent generations of UK homes.
Literally in love with this house. I don’t know how many times I’m watching it.
Wonderful.I like the presence of red.
Light airy yet full of colour and beautiful

Cath seems like the nicest person, and this house seems as welcoming as she would be 💚
Such a charming guest bedroom, I would never leave 😆
Everyones dream house to have in London. Loved every part of the Decoration. You look like your Home a Happy Person.
What a beautiful and mesmerising home.
Yes, always ‘paintings’ over ‘cooker’ …
pictures was the word
One of the most interesting houses I'd come across. Lively and lovely. 😍
Really really beautiful, so good! Got some new ideas! Thank you!
The telly-cover 😂😂 genius!

What a light and welcoming home. Do you need special frames for bathroom pictures?
Use of the orangey red throughout is wonderful. Plants, books and interesting pictures - bliss on a plate.
