- Here I am over six months or so later! What can I say?! Life has been extremely busy, but not so busy that I haven't made time for sewing (of course!). Over the past several months of being in major life transition, I have been able to sew together a piece or 10 : ) and today I'm sharing with you recent garments I've sewn up using McCall's, Simplicity, Know ME by Mimi G, and New Look Patterns. Part 2 will be out next week as I realized today's sewing video was starting to get a bit long in catching up with you on this collection of Spring time clothing!

Hello fellow seamstresses! The sewing journey continues..welcome to part 1 of recent makes. Part 2 is being filmed in the next day or so and will be posted next week! Hopefully you get inspiration and enjoy these makes. What have you been working on? Any recent fun makes? I would love to hear about them!
I HOPE YOU HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE HOBBY LOBBY NEW LOOK PATTERN SALE .99 CENT.
A serger is a game changer! I’ve been sewing for 31 years and didn’t get a serger until about 10 years ago. Knits can be sewn and finished nicely in one pass. I also use my serger to finish the raw edges of wovens and give them a professional look. French seams are beautiful on sheer or delicate fabrics but more often than not, I use my serger.
YES you need a serger! It will save you so much time! At first there is a learning curve with matching fabrics and tension but so well worth the $$! BTW love the way you jump into each pattern and display each garment (wearing it as well). Looking forward to more tips!
Thanks so much! Happy creating to you! 🪡🧵🌷
I really like the pieces you’ve made ! You are so good at modifying and combining patterns.
I appreciate that so much! Happy creating to you and thanks for being here!🌷
I like the way you sewed your elastic to skirt.
Thank you! It was surprisingly easy to do, highly recommend for that flat-front look : )
Serger: YES!!! SO worth it! Try to save for a baby lock with air threading😉
Yay! Okay, this is why I asked--I would never have known about the baby lock with air threading feature, but I am taking note. Thank you for the feedback! : )
@@dineincreativity I’ve been sewing for a long time (I’m 63), and my serger has made SUCH a difference in my enjoyment, quality, and expansiveness(knits are a breeze!!) in my sewing. 😁😁😁
100% recommend a serger. It's a game changer once you get the hang of it! Lovely makes you've done too!
Good to know! I thought that might be the response but it's good to hear it's a game changer : ) Appreciate you being here!
A serge is worth it.
Definitely get a serger !!!
Good to know! : ) Will have to be my next big sewing tool I get!
Loved all your makes…including the top you thought didn’t suit you…it definitely did! The top you’re wearing is beautiful! I’ve looked up the pattern and would never have thought it was that…you’ve made it beautiful with your choice of fabrics, something I’m not very good at.
I’d say definitely get a serger. I did have a baby lock with automatic threading but after minutes it stopped working,, sent it back, they said air tubes blocked….id literally sewn about 5 inches! It happened a second time so I got a refund and bought a (much cheaper) Elna, so easy to thread and use. I use it more than my sewing machine, a brilliant buy.
Thank you!! Yes, it is so amazing how these patterns come to life depending on the fabric that you use. Such a process, though! I’m still trying/learning to pair the right fabrics with patterns to get the look I want. It can be tricky. Thank you for the feedback about the serger! It’s officially on my list to buy. That sounds so frustrating what happened with yours! 🙃 Glad you were able to find one that works well for you. Happy happy sewing to you!
I love all your makes! Btw, I like that you merged sewing patterns to create your own style. I don’t use store bought patterns because they are always too big. I make my own patterns instead it is simple and I know it will fit.
Thank you! And that is my goal! I have self drafted/created some (ill fitting) patterns but end up spending so much time altering them to fit right ha.😅 it’s something I’d eventually like to do so much more of (correctly). Happy sewing to you!🌷
Great to see you again!
Happy to be back! Thanks for being here!🧵🪡😊
I love your videos. I used to wait that you come back. I love your fabric choices. You could benefit from a serger. I bought mine from Walmart for $200 and it is the best. You will enjoy a serger and the freedom it brings
Hi! That is so kind. : ) Happy you're here. And that sounds very affordable! I actually bought my Brother sewing machine from walmart online and got a great deal on it--I'll have to check out their sergers, too! Happy creating!
I ❤ all the roused affect
Me too!!! It's a new favorite technique!
Great job!!
I have a couple of suggestions that you may find helpful! 1. A serger will level up your knit sewing, but if you don't have one, just trim your seam allowance down. No need to french seam or zig zag because typically knits won't fray.
2. I notice a little buckling in your blouses and dresses on your lower back. That suggests you may need a sway back adjustment. Check it out. It will make a world of difference in the comfort and fit of your makes.
Noted! Thanks for that terminology and suggestion--I will definitely check into the sway back adjustment. It's something I have noticed too : )
I absolutely love all your makes! But my FAVORITE is the top you are wearing. What pattern is that? Your french seams are wonderful! I do love my serger. If you have the funds, get one and you will love it! I can't live without mine. Glad to see you back!
Hi! Thank you!! It's Simplicity 9477. Very straightforward piece to sew, I think you'll love it! Good to hear about the serger. Definitely something that I'm thinking will definitely be on my list for the future! Happy creating to you : )
I didn’t think I needed a serger until my mom purchased in the 80s a Singer had a 3 thread, and brought it with her when she visited. I was begging my husband for one for Christmas. I currently have a baby lock ovation and I travel with brother 1034dx. You don’t need a serger, but your sewing will look store bought on the inside.
Great feedback! I'm thinking this is going to be my top birthday request this year ; )
Aaahhh girlie, I missed you on here x so good to see you back xx
Aw, thank you!! : ) Excited to be back. Happy creating to you!
Welcome back! I was thinking about you last week and have missed seeing all your beautiful makes! My favorite is the Know Me sweater. Definitely get a serger when you can. You will love it. Two years ago I purchased a Baby Lock Vibrant which is not incredibly expensive but I really like it. It does not have the air threader but I was already used to the manual threader from my previous serger so that feature wasn't a game changer for me. The one negative thing I will mention is the light isn't bright enough so I have to use a desk lamp. Just something to keep in mind when you get ready to buy one. Looking forward to Part 2!
Hi! That is so sweet.🌷I am really happy to be back making videos! Great feedback regarding the serger. The baby lock feature is something I have now read/seen a couple times in the comments. I am definitely keeping that in mind as well as the air threader because it sounds like these features will be helpful especially for a beginner-serger-user like myself. Happy happy creating and sewing to you! 😊 Thank you so much for being here!
I like all you patterns and colors. Very neat sewing skills you have. Only get a BabyLock air serger!! Wait for a sale.
Thank you! And good to know about the Baby Lock air serger : ) This has been a consistent theme in the comments, I'm definitely keeping this in mind! Happy creating!!
i couldn't imagine sewing without a serger. It will change your sewing game!
This seems to be the resounding feedback! Definitely going to keep this in mind.
That does not matter about what fabric you decide to use for what ever pattern , as long as you ❤ it , it's ok , I ❤ all your beautiful ideas make
Love this mentality! Definitely agree : )
Hello beautiful 🌹❤😊👋
So glad you’re back! I enjoy seeing your makes. You’re very inspiring
Thank you, that is so kind🌷thanks for being here and happy creating!😊
Hello, all of your makes are lovely I am looking forward to part 2. You asked about the value of a serger for a seamstress, not a must-have but very helpful especially when working with knits.
Thank you so much for the kind words and feedback on the serger! It's definitely something I'm leaning towards getting in the future and it's nice to hear the utility of having one--especially for certain fabrics. Happy creating to you!
Happy to see you back. Welcome to California🤗🙏🏼
Thank you! Had to get settled after that transition 😆 but I am loving it here so far! Are you in California too? Thanks for being here! Happy creating🌷😊
@@dineincreativity Yes I am a Valley Girl in the middle of Cali very close to Yosemite . I am currently working in a Closet Core pattern Carolyn Pj sset. I am just doing shorts for now.
@@carolinefortheloveofcrochet Oh that's awesome! It is such a gorgeous area/state. Your project sounds amazing--I'll have to go check out some of your shorts!
So glad you are back! Keep up the good work😊
Thank you! and thanks for being here!
I have that very beautiful Know Me pattern as well & ❤ the beautiful look & style of it , thanks sew much for this ❤ly up date video , I was wondering how this 2 piece would look made up & you have done such a beautiful job there , yes !!
Hi! Thank you! And I love that you also have that pattern--it is so cute and fun to sew! Like you, I'm curious how the whole set would look.. Thanks for being here!
Thank you so very much ❤
Welcome to California! What part are you in? Definitely get a serger! It will give you a faster alternative to French seams and you can also use it for quick knit sews like tshirts, pajamas etc. I love my serger and just have a basic brother one.
Thank you! I'm in Southern California...Can't wait to hit up the fabric district in LA, soon (and Mood fabrics)! Are you in CA, too? Thanks for feedback on serger--my sewing machine is Brother so I'll check out their sergers, too : )
I’m in northern CA but grew up in SoCal and will always love California. The brother 1634dx serger from Joann’s has served me well and I sew a lot!
