  • Shooting is the most important skill in basketball. What's almost as important is getting OPEN to shoot those shots. I dissect how Steph does it in this video.

    His footwork while moving in any direction while he's gathering the ball before a shot is what's most impressive.

      Absolutely. People love to talk about his movement but don’t talk enough about his ability to shoot off different platforms, with different momentum, in tiny windows.
      His ability to get the shot up in such tiny windows *is* why he’s the greatest shooter.

    I think what’s underrated here is that he is playing with teammates who know his off-ball habits and how he gets open so they know how to be alert to make the right plays, screens, etc to have him take the shot he’s looking for.

    Moving without the ball successfully relies a lot of similar concepts to taking a guy off the dribble. Use subtle contact with your arms, use change of speeds and change of directions.

      @vinuzo9548 3 роки тому +1

      I get what you're trying to say, but youre all wrong. The fact that Steph is so good is why defenders are doing everything in their power to stop him from getting open. The bad players are the ones defenders leave open.

      @@johanserna356 I get what you mean and I think you are partially right. On one side, defenders are more likely to bite the fakes and hesis that Steph throw at them because he is so dangerous. But on the other hand defenders also give 300% effort when guarding him, making getting open extremely difficult. If I step on the court I can get open for every play, because I suck at shooting, so technically it is easier for me to get open than Steph, who really has to work for every shot opportunity

    No this shit may easy but it's not. It's actually difficult. He just makes it look easy. He's mastered this and everyone hasn't or can't do it like he does. His execution is second to none. Everyone can't execute this to his level.Also his conditioning is crazy. To be able to keep moving like this every game takes great conditioning. It's amazing how he's able to consistently do this. I like what the video shows but it's more to it than this. He also does other things moving without the ball that isn't shown.

    • @RamaSivamani
      @RamaSivamani 2 роки тому +2

      Defending off ball movement is always tough regardless of how good of a defender you are. If the person you are defending knows how to bait you into running into screens and your teammates don't communicate that effectively then your done. And if there are multiple screens in a set that are staggered all it take is one miscommunication on one of them for the defender to be done. Plus it requires the stamina to chase a player who is in constant motion with or without the ball.
