great video agree that good quality is a must particularly sausage, bacon don't scrimp on quality, have a look at the Hawksmoor breakfast for 2 in london if they still do it.
Yank here, great vid Adam. I made a full English for myself a few years back and it was an ordeal. My timing was way off, had to keep everything in the oven, probably dirtied at least 4 pans. British sausages are impossible to get here - Americans only care about sugar- and maple syrup-infused breakfast sausages. And the problem is I've had proper bangers before so I know what I'm missing. Also, great music choices in this ep! Cheers.

He's sort of right. I do like a hash brown, but it's not traditional. I also much prefer tinned tomatoes over boring bland out of season fresh tomatoes. I tend to use tinned in the winter

The English breakfast was originally used to please landed gentry. But it's very much been taken on by the working class here. Baked beans are amazing, very different to your pork and beans, they have a sweeter sauce and generally eaten as a snack on buttered toast. But I love them with a full English and some proper British bangers
Ok Adam, your English breakfast looked so much better then the one I saw when I was in London a few years back. It all looked good I’d leave out the baked beans cause I find them rather gross. I work in a grocery store in the states, and I have looked for proper British sausage and black pudding, but they are not available in the states.
Fond memories of my dad making breakfast on a Sunday morning, with me cuddled up next to my mum in bed while she read the news of the world paper. Swaggertys make decent sausage here buy they are not fat ones, just little breakfast links. Black pudding is virtually not seen here but in some places that have ethnic butchers or delis you find blood sausage or types of kishka. My friends family emigrated from Russia/Poland and she said its a kishka she has eaten. Bacon well its rubbish here unless you cure your own.(i do then slice it and vac pack it) but you can get thick cut streaky bacon and that is so much better and you have to dig to find the meatiest ones. Now where is the fried bread ? that was my fave greasy bacon fat fried bread oh yummm Thanks for the trip down memory lane. You just cant beat a good breakfast even for supper. xx
Very good video thank you. You are whise not too eat this every day. I had a cousin who couldn't get enough of food like this Bacon was number one for him. I used to joke with him that he was going to have a heart attack but then he would laugh it off. Sure enough about three and a half months ago he had a fatal heart attack they found him in his house dead.
Great note on sourcing high quality ingredients, Adam! Have you ever tried making your own baked beans from scratch? I have difficulty abiding by the insipid, overly sweet beans from a tin.

Ooh I do like a bit of ketchup. Also black pudding has been made in England for centuries. In fact in the 15th century we made a version using sheep and cow blood. All regions of the UK and Ireland have their own variations of course, but the black pudding does not belong to the Scottish alone.

You might find it at a butcher shop, but you won't find it at the supermarket. I'd say get some loin and cut it really thinly, and then cook it with two strips of streaky bacon. British sausages aren't easy to come by, but there is a supermarket chain where I live that occasionally sells Cumberland sausages at their deli counter. I don't know how they compare to the real thing, but they are really good. Black pudding though - your best bet is to find it online, because you won't find it here anywhere as far as I know.
There are many German food shops and butchers all over the world where you surely will be able to buy back bacon and black pudding. Even available in Africa. They fly some things, but most is completely made by them.
I can say, in regards to the states, black pudding is nearly impossible to find, good English sausage is nearly as difficult and so is back bacon. There’s a butcher by me that had “English breakfast sausage.” They generally do a great job, but it frankly tasted like dirt. I’ve taken to making the Americanized version of it with regular bacon and regular breakfast sausage and it’s passable.

I was brought up to eat everything on my plate - and one thing I struggled with was Sunday breakfast and that disgusting stuff called Black Pudding. My parents and brothers all loved the stuff, but me.... between the baked beans and the black pudding Sunday mornings just about killed all my joy as a child. Bring on the Mushrooms!!! Shame because it's so good. Here in the UK most of the black pudding is made with powdered blood rather than fresh. Fresh blood was banned in the 90s after the BSE crisis. The ban has been lifted now, but the infrastructure required to store fresh blood just isn't there, so it's rare to find it made with fresh these days.

When you get good ones, it's a dream come true mate. To be fair, many supermarkets produce some decent sausage and bacon these days. We have a much more demanding palate now compared to the 70s 😂

Oh Adam, Adam, Adam, you lost me at the black pudding. I was brought up to eat everything on my plate - and one thing I struggled with was Sunday breakfast and that disgusting stuff called Black Pudding. My parents and brothers all loved the stuff, but me.... between the baked beans and the black pudding Sunday mornings just about killed all my joy as a child.

I actually think black pudding is illegal in the states. Think its the blood part.
Shame because it's so good. Here in the UK most of the black pudding is made with powdered blood rather than fresh. Fresh blood was banned in the 90s after the BSE crisis. The ban has been lifted now, but the infrastructure required to store fresh blood just isn't there, so it's rare to find it made with fresh these days.

When you get good ones, it's a dream come true mate. To be fair, many supermarkets produce some decent sausage and bacon these days. We have a much more demanding palate now compared to the 70s 😂
