Caterpillar Thirty Engine Startup Demo

A full engine startup demonstration of one of Caterpillars earliest products. The Thirty was built from 1925 until 1938 based on a design formerly built by C.L. Best Tractor Company since 1921. The model 30 is powered by a four cylinder gasoline engine developing 36 belt and 30 drawbar horsepower at 1400rpm from it's 561 cubic inches (7.6 litres) displacement. Found one of these in the woods the other day. I love the crazy Caterpillar font above the radiator! Wonder if it's possible to drag it out and fix it. It's about three miles back and the timber has all grown up around it; looks like it had been used for hauling logs. Yours looks great!

Cylinder drain cocks, the engine is easy enough to start with them closed so I don't bother using them during cranking.

I have a D7 iam restoring its coming along good engine was seized when i drug it home soaked it in dextron and acitone 50/50 mix
