- For our 2 year anniversary we are fixing up some roast lamb, potatoes and a very common pudding in early America. Let's see! It was delicious. Please be sure to watch till the end to see the original recipes as they appeared over 200 years ago.
Our 2nd Channel! / @frontierpatriot
Friend! You may find images of the original 200+ year old recipes (or recipets as they used to be called) at the end of my videos. Below I have translated these into modern directions so that you may enjoy them at home. Thank you for watching 😊
Rice Pudding, 1808
Cooked rice, 1.5 cups
Cream, 2 cups
Sugar, 1 cup
Mace, 1.5 teaspoons
Nutmeg, 1 teaspoon
Rose water, a dash
Into a pot combine cream with your cooked rice, mace and nutmeg. Bring to a gentle simmer then add in the rose water and sugar. Stir on low heat for only a few minutes before removing. Set aside to cool, or ideally stick it in a cold place to get cold. Once it is cool it is ready to serve. Rice desserts were very common in early North America due to the plethoral of rice plantations in the south.
Roasted Lamb, 1808
Lamb shoulder, or a leg of lamb ButterFlour Diced parsley, 3 tablespoonsSalt, to taste
Cover your lamb well with butter then with a thick layer of flour. Roast before a fire until it is done. This will vary greatly on the size of the meat. Cook until the internal temperature reaches 145 degrees Fahrenheit. You may also bake it in an oven in a deep dish. Baste with its drippings once every 10-20 minutes. Once done, pour over it a few spoonfuls of butter that you have mixed with salt, then finally sprinkle with diced parsley before serving. It is advisable to let the lamb sit for 10 minutes before carving to retain its juices.
Potatoes, Justine Style
Potatoes, 2 pounds
Melted butter, 1 tablespoon
Thyme, 1 tablespoon
Diced Parsley, 3 tablespoons
Salt & pepper to taste
Peel and cube up the potatoes. In a pot melt your butter then add the potatoes. Into this add also the thyme, parsley, salt & pepper. For a modern taste you may also add garlic, however in this time period in America garlic wasn't a commonly desired flavor. Stir well then cover and cook on medium heat until the potatoes are done which should take between 30-40 minutes.
How big is your cabin?
Gracias Justine
Wheres the pda?😔
Fantastic!
Hey, will you show us how to clean and maintain a fireplace as it was in 19th century?
Do you have a making butter video you could possibly tag me in? Love your content 💖new viewer
The way she dumped the butter on the lamb was 😚🤌 *chefs kiss*
These vintage cooking videos bring tons of joy to my heart.
Amen ❤
I love the way Justine smiles as she cooks.
I once came up with a wild conspiracy theory based on her smile. A few years ago there was a Muckbanger who went by the name of Kate Yup. She wore a blindfold but you could see her lower half when she smiled. Justine's smile reminds me of Kate Yup.
I don’t buy this for a bit. That’s a lot of sugar for 1808 for just a two person meal.
@@tremorsfan 😂😂😂😂
It’s creepy
@@kwitit100Just because people had to be more formal and refined in public back then didn't mean they weren't as crazy as we are sometimes today. People haven't changed, they just had different ways of doing things. So yes, they ate a lot of sugar sometimes with their meals back then too.
My three year old loves watching these with me. She says “I love that guy…and that princess” 🥹
Any dish that has lamb and potatoes is an instant winner in my book
Great minds think alike.
Everything she does, she do it with grace and finesse.
?@repentandbelieveinJesusChrist2
for god and country
Well she is making a video, not unlike in 1808.
@Repent and believe in Jesus Christ chill
back when women knew their place.
Countdown to one million
Maybe all the newbies could give them enough subscribes, to 1M, as a wedding gift! 🎉. Wouldn’t be too difficult!
@@grinchlette never seen or watched this channel before but I love it and I just subscribed!😊
@@TheSunRiseKid Welcome! 😊
Having a woman like that is a dream come true
@@grinchlette 😊👍
I love how it’s all just natural sound. 😊
I love the “secure your cat”! 😂🐈⬛ Meal looks yummy! 🥰💕❤️👍👍
😊☕
That part is important 🐈⬛
The authenticity of the cabin, cooking utensils, costumes, and actors depicted a life of wholesomeness and warmth in life over 200 years ago. I really enjoyed this video!
And the meat bought from Walmart ten min drive into town lol
@@dmxj1586 Did you really expect her to use 200 year old food?
oh man, that fire and wood cracking sound, it's heaven for me
What a lovely anniversary dinner! ❤
Justine u are awsome love u
My favorite thing about these videos is seeing the cookware used!!!! I am building my own pottery and wooden utensil kitchen!
I have a collection of cast iron cookware ranging in age from brand new last month griddle to three pots a Dutch oven and two skillet that my grandmother received as wedding gifts in 1897
@Amsodoneworking now That's so great! That's the nice thing about cast iron. It's so durable it becomes a family heirloom. So much better than the new disposable cookware.
I am absolutely fascinated by ye ole timey hearth cooking! Also bonus points for including kitty 🐈⬛ n the video!
It nice that Ron is helping you with cokking the dinner.
The meal looks good. So is the dessert.
Thank you Justine for the recipes.
Kisses to Mish Mish ❤😺
My fave dish to order at middle-eastern restaurants! GRILLED LAMB CHOPS!!!!
MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA AGAIN!!!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💔💔💔🌤🌤🌤🕊🕊🕊🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Would love to see you two cooking together more in future episodes, this was great! Happy Anniversary!!
Me too I love it when they cook together and also eat..
I can't imagine how wonderful it must smell in the cabin with this food cooking.... Not to mention, how incredible it tasted 👍 ❤
작고 아늑하고 따뜻한 공간.너무 멋져요. 감자요리 맛있겠네요.😊
Can't begin to describe how much I look forward to your next upload. It always feels comforting and has me wish we lived a simpler life. Thanks for all you do to make this so rewarding to so many.
This is so relaxing. Here in my Country we still cook the same recipes as in the 1800's very often. I have my Grandmother's cook book with things she learned from her Grandmother and let me say the cakes are fabulous❤. Fortunately here in Portugal we already cooked with olive oil and garlic back then. The butter was for cakes, either butter or even pig fat in some of them. Thank you so much for posting this.
At the end so beautiful seeing the two set together enjoying supper. So special! Love this video and I love you both.
Great seeing Ron doing some cooking in this one:) I love rice pudding
Those potatoes look amazing, yet simple. Really, i am dying here with this food combo
I’ve never enjoyed an asmr video until now. This was so peaceful and fed my soul.
You should really enjoy binge watching all her past cooking videos then because they are a real treat for ASMR lovers.
Everything looks so delicious🤩. Happy Anniversary to you both😍
Thank you for not filling the video with music or talk. The sounds of the room, including the crackling fire, are wonderful.
Good video Justine, lamb looks really good. Happy Anniversary to you and Ron.
They have such a cozy place
So fun. So wow. The two of you working on your anni dinner together is just so sweet. It looks soooooo yummy!
Thanks so much! I love lamb the most of all the meats. I also love rice pudding and that looked delicious!
Happy Anniversary! ❤
Happy Anniversary you two ❤ your dinner was fit for a king & queen! 👸🤴
The perfect meal for king Ron and his queen Justine. Hey you guys😁😁 Happy anniversary May you celebrate at least 60 more😂😂 Love you both and little Mish Mish too.
i love your content it's really healing in this particularly stressful period bcs of exams !! i always leave your videos feeling serene :)
Just found your channel! Wow this is so cool and thankyou for showing all of us how hard of a life our forefathers had to build this great Country of ours. Unfortunatly most kids today would not be able to handle what your children can. Hopefully most children and familys today will watch your channel and better have appreciation for those who built this GREAT NATION!, and especially the USA ITSELF!
I love the teamwork... you need to get Ron in the kitchen more often with you ♥
Thoughtful & Purposeful…being one with one’s self and the bounty’s of quality & simple pleasures, lovely way to live
Happy Anniversary to you both .
I love these historical cooking videos, you do such a nice job and sweet lil miss mish mish I always look forward to seeing in your videos.
This actress is the best! The sublime grace, the silence, the occasional smile!
Justine, this is the way food should be eaten. Fresh, unprocessed and just simple and pure without harmful additives. It looks so delicious and I bet it tastes delicious too. Many thanks. Love to the cat.
I found this channel a month or so ago and I got a bit giddy when I saw you posted a new video. 😁
"Secure your cat." 😂 Mish-Mish's meow at the end was perfect.
This looks absolutely mouthwatering!!! What a way to celebrate this important date!!!
Absolutely love this channel! So calming ❤
This looks absolutely wonderful.
Its so great seeing Ron in the kitchen! Im not a fan of lamb but your potatoes looked amazing 😋
Husband and I adore nice piece of lamb and this looked amazing.
Going to use rottiseri next time rather than baking it in the oven.
You’re channel is fantastic! I look forward to each new video, thank you and thank you Ron!
The channel can proudly say it is the most popular in 1820s United States, as the census in 1820 indicates that the population is at 9M, and the channel is soon to bring in 1M.
Happy Anniversary! A wonderful dinner is a great way to celebrate.
That looks amazing!!🤗
Thank you for creating these videos. They are beautifully done. I work in a highly technical job and there is something so soothing about having these ASMR videos play in the background with a warm crackling fire. I find myself mesmerized by how you cook over a hearth and prepare the food with such care, grace and skill. It inspires me to slow down in the kitchen and enjoy the process more.... with a smile. The receipts are so cryptic! I'm amazed you can figure them out. The chew & chats are hilarious. Keep up the great work! Just curious, does your cooking always end up perfect? Your pies are never burnt or appear to have soggy crust, your food never sticks to the pan and nothing over-boils over! lol
Oh I’ve had rice pudding before! It might sound weird, but it’s delicious 😋
Why would it sound weird? People eat it all the time to this day.
@@debbielockhart7762 oh, just in my experience people thought it was a bit odd 😅
Such a lovely meal the rice custard and lamb are perfect. Not to mention your beautiful cabin. Life was so simple and beautiful then.
I love how Justine always smiles at the food 😊 I wonder if it smiles back? 😂
You just know it does. Justine is a saintly women of God. The food screams her praise.
Truly appreciate channels like this that make a very creative approach to a genre
Gosto muito dos vídeos...legendas em português por favor. 🇧🇷 Brasil
Tonight we're going to party like it's 1899.
Your kitty is just like mine! Black shorthair with extra-long tail! Great addition to your content.
As others have noted, you’re creeping up on the big 1M, so cool!
I’m going to link this episode in a text to my aunt now and see if we can’t help get you there.
Oh and today’s menu is awesome.
Happy Anniversary Ron and Justine ❤💙💐🎉 😊
Justine always has that little smile that makes her look like she has a secret. I imagine people enjoyed their meals more back then without the distraction of mobile phones and/or television.
Oh yes! I don’t allow cell phones around the dining table
Multumesc mult felicitări

Well done being first. Take care.
@@carole8142 thank you, you too
That meal looked so yummy! I love watching your channel!
Men didn't cook sure of that
They aren’t married yet. He’s probably still trying to impress her 😂
Yes, they did. But often one hunting trips etc
It is always special vintage... Lovely style of cooking and pure art...👍
i recently came across your videos and now i m loving them. your videos are very relaxing and soothing to me❤❤
Would there be any chance we could ever get a tour of the immediate exterior and the entire interior of your lovely cabin? I'm a home-bound artist who's always looking for references, so actually visiting these places is difficult for me. And this time period is very difficult to find online accurately. I would love to see a detailed look inside the cabin and all the things that make up the inventory for such a life.
These videos always bring me joy cause I'm really into this kind of lifestyle and history, and being European I'd love to see more of the American side of it.
i was watching this video and started to cry. I was transported to another life. thank you
Oh My Goodness I love this seeing you both doing this together 💕💕🥰🥰
Love watching your videos. Love seeing your kitty. Your content is so good. Thanks for sharing. Take care, see ya :)
These videos are so relaxing they make me fall asleep but also make me crave those wholesome healthy meals!

Loved seeing you both cook together! ♥️
Looks delicious!!! Thank you for the lovely videos! ☺️
A wholesome simple meal shared together at table. A blessing from God to enrich the soul and body. Doesn't get much better than that; no matter the grocery budget. Stay blessed.
As always a wonderful presentation! Thank you Justine & Ron!
The meal looks great!
I love these videos so much! The sounds of the fire are so relaxing. I keep saying it Justine, I love how you prepare every meal in the fireplace again!❤Happy anniversary to you both!😊
Looks absolutely delicious 🤤 Definitely wanna try that whole meal ☺️
Happy Anniversary guys!
What a nice celebratory dinner! Well done Justine & Ron. Personally, I am not a fan of lamb (or mutton) but I'm willing to try this receipt. I can't wait to watch you eat this meal! Thanks so much.
Just love the sounds of the cooking, the fire, the wind through the trees. With headphones, this would be perfect for relaxation in a noisy city.
Fantastic looking Roasted Lamb I have ever feast my eyes upon.
I would so love to try it
Awesome video. Interesting how they cooked rice pudding back then. I just like mine simple too and only add cinnamon for the spice. Everything looked so delicious. Happy 2 year 🎉💕
This channel is the most needed relaxing and goodness filled white noise after a long stressful day ❤
I so enjoy this channel! Simpler times, healthy foods and 💕!
I just discovered your videos and love them. I am an American History buff and I find this so interesting.
I have tried one of the recipes - yum! Tonight I am doing the fried chicken.
I really wish you guys would put out a recipe book.
The videos help to know how and what to do but, it is hard to find certain things I want to make. That is where a recipe book would be nice.
It does not have to be fancy ect. Just a booklet would be nice and helpful. I want to make so many things I have seen on here.
This is relaxation on tap. I could sit and sip in silence all day, just listening to the fire and noise of happenings.
Love watching your vids while I’m sewing. So relaxing.❤
This was eye opening. I realize I spend zero part of my day without the tv or videos on my phone going. I even sleep with the tv on. And I'm 43 and do zero social media.
I enjoy watching all of the early American you tube videos
What great ideas for your anniversary dinner! I liked watching you cook together, and I can imagine the nice aromas.
Would love to see you two cooking together more in future episodes, this was great!
I love to see Rob helping out with the cooking ❤love you guys!!

I love this channel 💕 Thank you! You both better open a store and sell recreated 19th century kitchen tools.
