Jeff Quinn ( www.gunblast.com ) tests the Smith & Wesson Performance Center® Model 686 357 Magnum / 38 Special Six-Shot Revolver.
Excellent video as always. Much missed guy
I love Smith revolvers and I'm definitely interested in this one. Great review.
Good review, GunBlastdotcom. Millions of revolvers have been sold, since the semi-automatic pistol deluge. Even old granny-ladies can figure out how to use a revolver. A good handgun can be used for home defense, business protection, camping, or fishing; a revolver will deliver six sure-shots for social work, when needed
Rest in peace
Thanks for the post and greetings from North Georgia!
Just picked one of these up.. One would think that Smith and Wesson, on a high end gun, would put a white outline rear sight on these.. But no, just a standard black sight. Along with this much too bright orange sight makes sighting in direct sunlight very difficult. Yes, I can get another rear sight for about 12 bucks, but why should I have to go through that? Also I had to adjust the rear sight almost all the way over to the right to get factory 158gr .357 ammo to shoot center of target.
To fix the sights temporarily, I had to blacken the bottom half of the front sight, and paint a white out line on the rear sight. This made it tolerable to shoot. I have a 4" 686, '80's vintage, and this gun out shoots the new PC 686 with the factory sights.
All that aside, the gun does shoot well. Most everything shot acceptable groups at 25 yards.
I love my 686+ (7-shots) Talo edition (with beautiful wood grips).
Another fine review, thanks!
rest in heaven brother
For 150.00 more than a base 686 that's a good deal .You can't beat S&W on any level and made in the USA.
s&w isn't what it used to be. in my opinion dan wesson has been better for a while. but i'd take a performance center s&w any day.
Well the last two Smiths (638 and 67) I bought in the last year were broken new in the box. The j frame was locked up because the ejector rod wasn’t screwed in all the way and the k frame was out of time fresh from the factory.
workingmansdead 44 I prefer Ruger. Yeah, I'm a simple man.
very unfortunate to hear Robert. Unfortunately, i've been hearing that stuff for a few years now. i just want to take a moment to say FUCK YOU to freedom group and all the American greats that now blow ass.
I have to agree with you. You used to get a really nice action with a production gun. Now you have to pay for performance center to get anywhere near what production level actions used to be. The new bluing is no where near as good as the old. These guns are not what they used to be. So sad to see imo
Thanks for adding to the public momentum back to interest in good revolvers!..............................elsullo
Long Live Buffalo Bore. Long Live Jeff Quinn. God Bless the Republic 🇺🇸
My gf is about to be like "Did you buy another gun?!?"
Aba657 I get that from my old lady.....I keep telling her is an investment....
women just don't understand haha
4 inch barrels are often more accurate than 6 for some reason.
I told BB years ago that they needed to upgrade their packaging. Their .32acp used to come in the same box that .45-70 did.
Did the tape a pair of tweezers to the side of the box so you could fish those 380s out of the Styrofoam?
Geez that's cheaper than my pro-series 686 SSR, how are they getting performance center guns out that cheap!?
Nice
It's to bad they didn't show how frame and barrel line up mine has some detail issues but I still like it
Great review there. I do have to disagree about L frames running for hundreds of thousands of rounds. They start to have problems relatively quickly if you start shooting them fast in double action for competition or just working on your skills.

the best mate!
Nice sidearm but I would still rather own a Ruger.
Thanks for the demonstration. What's the recoil on it like?
You hardly feel a thing. The grip is great. Buffalo bore you still don’t feel.
@@tomcampbell8934 Thank you
I could see myself buying 5 or 6 more S&Ws in the next month if they would do away with that stupid trigger lock. Until then, Ruger will get money.
I tried to buy one of those a month ago - unobtanium!
TXARmory Keeptryinanium...😆😆😆

golf-n-guns -Thanks, but I ended up buying the 627 PC 5” instead. Oh, well!
Front sight is to much
I'm having thr front sight fixed. The week after next. I too think the sight is too much.
gonna get better velocities ???
martin robillard ??
Dry fire much ?
5" version is better
What a great revolver! Too bad about the internal lock. It is like a beautiful woman having a nasty zit right on her face.
At least a zit goes away eventually.
I think the internal lock is one of the most ingenious additions. I can now keep it safe in my nightstand and not have to worry about my kids accidentally shooting themselves. If an intruder enters my home, I've got the tool sitting right next to it and can easily unlock it. I've gotten pretty good and can grab my revolver from my nightstand, unlock it, and be in shooting position in just under 20 seconds, which is plenty of time if an attacker is approaching my room.
🐸👍✝️
I guess I’m old fashioned, but that revolver is u-g-l-y ugly.
Chas Bailey what does a cylinder from China look like? It’s a bead blasted unfluted cylinder what’s there to read into?
It's time for some new intro music!!!
Makes me tired
Jeff has been telling me that for a long time.
Boge
Whats with the Gunsite Nazi insignia on your wall?
Roll your t shirt sleeves down, your arms are small.
Why are you worried about his t-shirt and his arms? They are not quite as big as your mouth, apparently.
