Also the first Pyro was Abraham Lincoln. -The RED Demoman, and the BLU Soldier are friends. -Heavy has a PhD in Russian literature. Also he has multiple miniguns each with thier own names. These are: Sasha [Base Minigun] / Oksana [The Brass Beast] / Natascha [Natascha] / Svetlana [Tomislav] / Sheila [Hou-Long Heater]. He fights to financially support his mother and sisters. His hobby is collecting coins. -The Engineer's name is Dell Conagher, and he has 11 PhD-s. Also his family has a relationship with the Administrator, since his grandfather took jobs from her, and the engineer built the Administrator's life support device. -Medic's last name is Ludwig. He obtained Archimedes after he hijacked a catering van from a Prime Minister's wedding. -Sniper was born in New Zeland, but was raised in Australia. His father was a scientist who believed the world was doomed, so he built an escape rocket, but when he and his wife started fighting over it, the baby sniper simply crawled into the rocket, which launched him to Australia. -Spy wears a 10 000 dollar, custom tailored Louis Crabbemarché jacket, and his tie which is made out of silk is worth 9000 dollars. -Miss Pauling is the secretary and agent of the Administrator. She has only one free day every year, and she uses it to watch gunshows. Her job often involves assasinations and burying the bodies of the Administrator's enemies. -The Administrator in question is named Helen. She is an old lady in purple suit. Her job is keeping tab on the various mercenary groups of the Badlands, while also overseeing TF Industries. According to Gray Man, the bodies of the people she killed/ordered to kill are capable of filling entiere coal mines. Her power is so great, that even SAXTON HALE, THE MANLIEST MAN EVER LIVED and CEO of Mann Co. could not ignore her requests.

Another Fun Fact: Contrary to everyone's belief, Medic is in fact, not a Nazi. While his ethics are questionable at worst and inhumane at best, he wasn't a part of The Nazi Regime, but his allegiance was never confirmed (wether he was a Partisan, An Allied Person helping Partisans or a Communist).

The voice actor for Soldier sadly died so he cannot really reprise his role so Valve cannot really make any more official SFM videos with him in it, There are a ton of fan made ones though
They don't have to stop. They can just hire someone who made a good impression. Like how Gendy Tartakovski did with Aku in Samurai Jack, to honor Mako. Or when Telltale Games hired a guy to play Marty Mcfly in BTTF The Game. I think it would be nice from Valve to hire someone with a good enough impression. Fun fact: Nolan North also did some lines for Soldier.

Some trivia: Remember how when Soldier said he teleported bread, he told Engineer "You told me to"? So he was referencing this exchange in the beginning of the video: Soldier: "We cannot teleport bread anymore!" Engineer: "Woah, not exactly soldier. You teleport as much bread as you want." Soldier took that literally.
Expiration date was an "SFM" (Source film maker) clip used as a trailer for a big expansion for the game! The devs released mini-movie to explain the update and all the information about it! Glad you're enjoying it!

Man we have all had a “who do I send my angry emails to” moment with this it’s always fun seeing someone share an interest in this old game so this is nice :)
I really love how they portray Sniper in this, he's always just in the background, still there but not the main focus, because that's how he is. He's long range so he usually doesn't want people to see him, only revealing himself up when need be and following his professional standard, as he stated in his Meet the Sniper video, of being efficient, shown by his precise shot to free Scout from the bread monster
"End of The Line" is also a really good TF2 Animation. Not officially made by Valve, but just about on par, quality wise. Would recommend watching that if you love the rest of the Tf2 stuff.
So, short version: Ms. Pauling works for the elusive "Administrator" who controls the fights between both teams, as well as managing a number of schemes behind the scenes. She wasn't in Meet the Team, as she's not one of the 9 playable classes- in fact, she didn't exist when many of those shorts were released. In game, she gives players "contracts," special challenges or stipulations for players to try in exchange for various prizes. I'd also highly recommend the Team Fortress Comics, which can be read for free on their website. If you've got a convenient place for me to send it, I'll send you a recommended reading order (the earlier comics were released a bit chaotically).
Expiration Date was a pilot to Adult Swim for them to get a Team Fortress 2 show on the air. The details on what happened exactly are murky, but something caused this to fall out and not happen. This, mixed with the passing of the voice actor for Soldier, Rick May, means we may never get the full show and it's really upsetting because Team Fortress 2 and it's characters have a lot of potential. If you want more, there is a comic series on their website that has a full volume however it has been on hiatus since 2017 and the final chapter of the first volume has never been released, still labled as "coming soon"
"We cannot teleport bread any more!" "Question." "What is you question Soldier?" "I teleported bread." "How much?" "I have done nothing but teleport bread for three days." "I TELEPORTED BREAD!" Rip Rick May, the man who said the best lines ever about bread. Noone could ever say those lines again without hearing soldier in their head.
While “End of the line” isn’t an official animation, it’s still pretty good. You should also watch the Mann vs. Machine (mvm) videos: I think there’s only a trailer and a video called “the sound of medicine”. The trailer comes first in order of events
Fun fact: Miss Pauling is 'helping' a director create the 'Meet the team' videos. You can see it, and more hijinx, in the comics, many of which are read on UA-cam!
Fun fact: In cannon, soldier was rejected from every branch of the US Military during World War 2. So he bought a ticket to Germany, and went on a rampage against the entirety of Nazi Germany. His rampage ended in 1949, 4 years after the war ended.

So, the thing is that these videos were made with a program called Source Film Maker (SFM for short), Expiration Date, along with the later Meet the Team videos. The program & character models have been freely available to the public for quite a while. In fact, Valve holds annual awards for fanmade TF2 vids made with SFM, called the Saxxy Awards (parody of Oscars). There are a LOT of high-quality videos that come out, as a result of these videos, that I strongly recommend you check out, if you're looking for more.

You notice how scout is so casually pushing the bomb at the end? that's because in game he has a twice pushing rate for payloads like the one shown (so it's not hard for him to push it) and twice the capture rate for capture points compared to every other class, except soldiers and demos using the pain train
Fun Fact at 8:57 It is Canonical that Spy is Scout's father, and so that means for Spy's last 70 hours of life, he was willing to help his son go on a Date. (Also Spy know's that Scout is his son, but Scout does not know that Spy is his dad)

In the comics, Red Spy and Scout are related. Seeing that this was the pilot for Adult Swim and Valve was initially going to animate The Naked And The Dead as a series, their relation in the comics would still apply here.
Fun fact: In the comics it is revealed that spy is scout's father, and also that sniper isn't actually Australian, but from New Zealand. Also: demoman lost his eye because he read a cursed book, the eye is now a Halloween event enemy. demo's sword Eye-lander, is sentient and steals souls.

Some fun facts about the Characters:
-The Scout's first name is Jeremy, and he was born in Boston as the youngest of eight brothers, currently 26 years old according to the offical comics. His relationship with Spy is just a theory, not confirmed by offical sources. He is a fan of baseball, and Tom Jones.
-Soldier is also a lawyer, according to the comics.He is currently in a romantic relationship with one of Heavy's sisters. Also, for a short time he lived with a wizard named Merasmus [wasn't any romance here though].
-The reason Pyro sees the world as it is, because of his mask. Also the first Pyro was Abraham Lincoln.
-The RED Demoman, and the BLU Soldier are friends.
-Heavy has a PhD in Russian literature. Also he has multiple miniguns each with thier own names. These are:
Sasha [Base Minigun] / Oksana [The Brass Beast] / Natascha [Natascha] / Svetlana [Tomislav] / Sheila [Hou-Long Heater].
He fights to financially support his mother and sisters. His hobby is collecting coins.
-The Engineer's name is Dell Conagher, and he has 11 PhD-s. Also his family has a relationship with the Administrator, since his grandfather took jobs from her, and the engineer built the Administrator's life support device.
-Medic's last name is Ludwig. He obtained Archimedes after he hijacked a catering van from a Prime Minister's wedding.
-Sniper was born in New Zeland, but was raised in Australia. His father was a scientist who believed the world was doomed, so he built an escape rocket, but when he and his wife started fighting over it, the baby sniper simply crawled into the rocket, which launched him to Australia.
-Spy wears a 10 000 dollar, custom tailored Louis Crabbemarché jacket, and his tie which is made out of silk is worth 9000 dollars.
-Miss Pauling is the secretary and agent of the Administrator. She has only one free day every year, and she uses it to watch gunshows. Her job often involves assasinations and burying the bodies of the Administrator's enemies.
-The Administrator in question is named Helen. She is an old lady in purple suit. Her job is keeping tab on the various mercenary groups of the Badlands, while also overseeing TF Industries. According to Gray Man, the bodies of the people she killed/ordered to kill are capable of filling entiere coal mines. Her power is so great, that even SAXTON HALE, THE MANLIEST MAN EVER LIVED and CEO of Mann Co. could not ignore her requests.
Just one thing about scout, the theory was confirmed in the official comics. One the later chapters called "the naked and the dead"

Fun Fact: Soldier went to Germany during ww2 but not as a soldier he went there and killed German Nazi's till 1952 and has a voice line where he says he killed a man in Germany who asked for directions.

Contrary to everyone's belief, Medic is in fact, not a Nazi. While his ethics are questionable at worst and inhumane at best, he wasn't a part of The Nazi Regime, but his allegiance was never confirmed (wether he was a Partisan, An Allied Person helping Partisans or a Communist).

The voice actor for Soldier sadly died so he cannot really reprise his role so Valve cannot really make any more official SFM videos with him in it, There are a ton of fan made ones though
They don't have to stop. They can just hire someone who made a good impression. Like how Gendy Tartakovski did with Aku in Samurai Jack, to honor Mako. Or when Telltale Games hired a guy to play Marty Mcfly in BTTF The Game. I think it would be nice from Valve to hire someone with a good enough impression.

I really love how they portray Sniper in this, he's always just in the background, still there but not the main focus, because that's how he is. He's long range so he usually doesn't want people to see him, only revealing himself up when need be and following his professional standard, as he stated in his Meet the Sniper video, of being efficient, shown by his precise shot to free Scout from the bread monster

"End of The Line" is also a really good TF2 Animation. Not officially made by Valve, but just about on par, quality wise. Would recommend watching that if you love the rest of the Tf2 stuff.

So, short version:
Ms. Pauling works for the elusive "Administrator" who controls the fights between both teams, as well as managing a number of schemes behind the scenes. She wasn't in Meet the Team, as she's not one of the 9 playable classes- in fact, she didn't exist when many of those shorts were released. In game, she gives players "contracts," special challenges or stipulations for players to try in exchange for various prizes.
I'd also highly recommend the Team Fortress Comics, which can be read for free on their website. If you've got a convenient place for me to send it, I'll send you a recommended reading order (the earlier comics were released a bit chaotically).

I second the tf2 comics. Scouts' VA actually did a reading of the main series. There's lot more cool Sniper moments if that encourages you at all.
She should watch the tf2 comic dubs by The Beard, he adds a lot of comedy to them
Yeah, the comics were where we first saw Miss Pauling. Seeing her actually animated for the first time was a huge deal when this short came out.
I mean, we did see Miss pauling for a quick second in the Meet The Medic video.

Expiration Date was a pilot to Adult Swim for them to get a Team Fortress 2 show on the air. The details on what happened exactly are murky, but something caused this to fall out and not happen. This, mixed with the passing of the voice actor for Soldier, Rick May, means we may never get the full show and it's really upsetting because Team Fortress 2 and it's characters have a lot of potential.
If you want more, there is a comic series on their website that has a full volume however it has been on hiatus since 2017 and the final chapter of the first volume has never been released, still labled as "coming soon"

While “End of the line” isn’t an official animation, it’s still pretty good. You should also watch the Mann vs. Machine (mvm) videos: I think there’s only a trailer and a video called “the sound of medicine”. The trailer comes first in order of events

It's actually impressive how the TF2 shorts bring someone into their world so well, even without prior knowledge of the game. Loved the video Hannah!
This is 2021, we're watching a tf2 animated short again and again, once again proven this game is a timeless masterpiece.
Fun fact: In cannon, soldier was rejected from every branch of the US Military during World War 2. So he bought a ticket to Germany, and went on a rampage against the entirety of Nazi Germany. His rampage ended in 1949, 4 years after the war ended.

"End of the Line" is a fan film and probably the best one out there. I also recommend "Turbulence"
So, the thing is that these videos were made with a program called Source Film Maker (SFM for short), Expiration Date, along with the later Meet the Team videos. The program & character models have been freely available to the public for quite a while. In fact, Valve holds annual awards for fanmade TF2 vids made with SFM, called the Saxxy Awards (parody of Oscars). There are a LOT of high-quality videos that come out, as a result of these videos, that I strongly recommend you check out, if you're looking for more.

You notice how scout is so casually pushing the bomb at the end? that's because in game he has a twice pushing rate for payloads like the one shown (so it's not hard for him to push it) and twice the capture rate for capture points compared to every other class, except soldiers and demos using the pain train

In the comics, Red Spy and Scout are related. Seeing that this was the pilot for Adult Swim and Valve was initially going to animate The Naked And The Dead as a series, their relation in the comics would still apply here.
