There's something magic about seeing someone see these characters as "new", or at least, not having the same level of connection. I've been playing TF2 since May of 2013, and this is genuinely heartwarming to see, even if it's something so simple as seeing the old SFM's.
The reason why everyone dies all the time is because it's indeed online, and every person can be the same class. So in reality, there are thousands of each class running around. Also, the Medic and Pyro ones are so much more gruesome because they were released a lot later than the other ones. The other ones released at the same time as the game, while those two weren't released until years later. I'm pretty sure it wasn't even confirmed what gender the Pyro was for years, if it ever got confirmed to begin with. There were a lot of rumors floating around about Pyro being a female, back in the day.
@@LunarSolar86 medic probably got bothered by the question numerous times about it only for it to be settled with 'Sometimes there are somethings man was not meant to know, so i wouldn't worry about it if i where you :)'. Think the ominous statement alone is enough of a determent.

In the comics, Miss Pauling suggest to the Administrator that if she should delay on killing the Director since we never get to Meet the BLU team, meaning there is a difference among them. It all depends on the narrative. The unfocused mercs are represented as archetypical nobodies (like the many BLU Soldier deaths from Meet the Medic) while the ones in the comics are the fleshed out Team Fortress Mercs. We see more of this when Blutarch and Redmond meet together and their two Engineers are working on the Life Extender Machine. They're just seen as filler mercenaries to not confuse the reader and only serve as fodder. The ones we follow in the comics or trailer however are the actual characters. Some SFM Animators like CrashMaul already got that message and roll with it. As for the main characters being on different teams, it has yet to be to explain, but we can assume their employers just hire them to be on different sides from time to time, which explains why they're on a stalemate for so long. Elizabeth made sure Radigan built a Life Extender machine for two of the brothers to prolong their war. The Administrator would've definitely done the same thing to have the Mann Brothers preoccupied on what she is really up to.
@@sirnarwhal9911 It has just crossed my mind: what if Heavy was telling the truth about the 400.000$? Perhaps he was adding the salary he's paid to be there plus the cost of the ammo. No other mercenary in the Badlands can or should (if they know what's good for them) carry Sasha.
@@mayorgeneralramirez1997 No, Heavy means just the bullets themselves. He says each bullet for Sasha is worth $200 and he's from the 1970s (so more expensive in modern day). Sasha fires the gun at 10K RPM, no other mini-gun in our modern world can compare to that. 12 seconds is 20% of a minute, so 10K x 0.2 = 2K. 2K x 200 = 400K for 12 seconds. So, he's just counting only for the ammunition. Now, since they're around the late 1970's, the inflation calculator says it would cost somewhere around $1.6 Million. If Sasha wasn't nerfed for game balance, it would just chew through tanks with ease. Its caliber is much larger than Sniper's, so imagine each bullet doing 50 damage at a rate of fire more ludicrous than in-game's (since it's not 10K RPM). People would be instantly deleted and this isn't even their strongest gun in the TF2 Universe.
"Is he drinking porn?" Actually no when brewing alcohol (especially stuff like moonshine) they label it with Xs to show how how many times it's been distilled. One X is usually not very strong as it's not gone through the procces enough to be more % alcohol in volume
So that's what this is about o: I thought that was just a way to represent alcohol without stating it, like "Here, take this bottle of *coughes* Milk!"
@Digicraftmon the Crystal Gem probably not sseeing as 3x is prettystrong and vast majority alcohol in volume. if it did go up to 5 imagine one drink would probably have enough ti kill quickly and be much stronger than absynthe (which was banned for a reason)
The fact that you went into this knowing absolutely nothing about TF2 and by the end of it you had a pretty decent idea of what it was like means the ad campaign was successful in what it was designed to do.
It's also good because you can totally enjoy them without knowing anything about the game -- whenever a game concept is more important it conveys it easily enough, like ubercharge or disguises, but it's mostly just a funny little skit

"You call that breaking my spine? You Red Team ladies wouldn't know how break a spine if- AHHHH, MY SPINE!!!" Still my favorite line from the entire set of videos.
My favorite moment is in meet the spy when the blue sniper throws the sniper onto the table. “Then we still have a problem” *reveal of the backstab* “ And a knife!😊” Just the joy in soldiers voice when he says it is great
3:31 my favorite moment in the series "And then he perfect it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor!" *cut to soldier screaming, holding a shovel*
Bonus info: The classes shown in these videos are mercenaries. There was an ongoing fued between two brothers, Redmond and Blutarch Mann, about the land their father left them. One them hired mercenaries to take the land from his brother, so his brother did the exact same thing. Pretty sure they're just clones of each other, that's why the same guy can be on both the red and blue team, sometimes more than once. Scout is from Boston and is a big Tom Jones fan. Soldier was rejected from the army, so he bought a rocket launcher and a plane ticket and went to Europe on his own to go on a killing spree in Germany... several years after the war had ended. He was also roommates with a wizard and he is insane. Pyro's vision of reality is caused by the mask he wears, and can be seen in-game by equipping certain items. Demoman comes from a family of Scottish noblemen. He lost his eye when it got cursed by looking into a forbidden book (owned by the aforementioned wizard) called the Bombinomicon, which gave him vast knowledge of explosives. Heavy has a degree in Russian literature and fights to support his family back in Russia. He gives his miniguns names and loves sandviches. Engineer is from Texas and has 11 PhDs. His glove hides a mechanical hand. Medic is from Stuttgart, Germany. He lost his medical license after stealing a man's skeleton and frequently experiments on his patients. Also he literally outsmarted the devil to avoid going to hell. Sniper is from the lost country of New Zealand, which sank beneath the ocean, but was raised in Australia. He throws jars of piss at his enemies. Spy is French and is Scout's father. Scout doesn't know though, or at least he is massively in denial.
Bonus Bonus info: Soldier is not necessarily insane, but is clinically (and as the lore progresses through the videos and the comics, progressively) dumb. This is caused by lead poisoning. While everyone was drinking bottled water, he was drinking the lead poisoned tap water. Medic outsmarted the devil by selling other people's souls rather than his own.
Don't forget their sane levels and intelligence Sane to most crazy: Sniper, Engineer and Spy (are more professional) Scout (Average) Heavy (in love with gun) Demoman (mainly drunk) Pyro, Soldier and medic (the only few that enjoy it) Smartest to dumbest: Medic and Engineer (obviously) Sniper and Spy (professionals) Pyro (comics he's a successful business owner) Demoman (Average) Heavy (Technically not too dumb he's just a one level above scout since scout can't read) Scout (pretty boy smart basically anything technical is too hard to understand) Soldier (Anything non-combat or non-American he doesn't know) Also they're separate people who strangely look familiar there's the original two per each side they were cloned by medic mentioned in comics the only ones who are cloned from one is Heavy, Sniper, Medic, soldier, pyro, engineer and demoman while spy and scout they have doppelgangers red spy had sex with blue scout mom and vice versa with blue spy
These characters all have names too! Demoman: Tavish Finnegan DeGroot Scout: Jeremy Medic: Dr. Ludwig Pyro: unknown Heavy: Misha Engineer: Dell Conagher Soldier: Jane Doe Sniper: Mr Mundy Spy: unknown
By the way, the box text of the Medic action figure claims his name is "Joseph Heilberg". But as it turns out whoever wrote that text did not actually check with Valve whether it was OK to name that character; they just did it without permission and without Valve noticing, somehow. This was before Valve officially gave him the name "Dr. Ludwig", so I guess they felt the need to have a name for the character before selling its figure or something.
fun fact: engineer actually cut off his right hand and replaced it with a robot one, which is why he wears the glove. also: medic stole Archimedes (his bird) as well as the other doves he has from the wedding of a prime minister. (who exactly is not said)
He doesn't need the glove really. If you look at the comics, he sometimes puts on human-looking prostheses: www.teamfortress.com/tf06_thenakedandthedead/#f=195

Every other meet the team: laughing but slightly confused, commenting about how it's cute/sandwich guy dies
Meet the medic: Nothing but concern
The reason why everyone dies all the time is because it's indeed online, and every person can be the same class. So in reality, there are thousands of each class running around. Also, the Medic and Pyro ones are so much more gruesome because they were released a lot later than the other ones. The other ones released at the same time as the game, while those two weren't released until years later. I'm pretty sure it wasn't even confirmed what gender the Pyro was for years, if it ever got confirmed to begin with. There were a lot of rumors floating around about Pyro being a female, back in the day.
when you think about it, medic knows who pyro is and what gender pyro is, medic had to put the ubercharge into pyro's heart somehow

they're archetypical mercenaries, not actual people.
they're actual people in the comics though. its a bit weird.

The classes shown in these videos are mercenaries.
