    Tried this 3x with my 2005 Tahoe. Blows cold for about 5 sec then hot. What did help immensely is you pointing out the location of the actuator. I started my rig, and the moment it blew cold, I disconnected the actuator from power. Constant cold for now. It is summer in south Texas, so I don't mind it being stuck on cold. Thanks for your video. 👍💯😁

      Sounds like I may be having the same issue that you had. My 05 Yukon Denali will blow cool air for about 30 seconds to a minute and then warmer air for a about 30 seconds to a minute and this cycle just repeats. It's like the system can't figure out what it needs to do in order to maintain the set temperature.

    I’ve been dealing with this issue for two weeks. Throughout all my searches I finally came across your video. Even my brother, a certified A/C technician, didn’t know this cheat. I applied the technique from your video, and I’m again enjoying a solid cold air flow. With temps being 100* + here in Texas, this has been a life saver. This also works if your vent is stuck on defrost. It finally worked on my 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 after the 3rd time and I was sure to use my stopwatch on my iPhone for correct wait periods. I could see my actuator going through the recalibration process but after waiting the 15 sec and cranking truck back up it switched back to defrost on first 2 times.
    The third time was a charm. I left controls on vent for the time being because I’m afraid to change it to anything else at the moment. Will update this comment if it gets stuck back to defrost. Thanks for the video!

    worked for a bit, then went on to full failure mode. Had to replace the actuator (drivers side 2:00 in relation to the gas pedal... easy to see but not easy to work on). fired it up, and thought it wasn't working at first, then I moved the temp knob to 50% and "voila" was greeted with cold refreshing air conditioning on the drivers side again. redid the calibration, and now momma will be happy to ride with me again... it works as advertised. Houston heat and humidity are both great motivators to get this thing working. Once again, I greatly appreciate your posting this.

    IF you have a friend that has a scanner with bidirectional capability he can go in and go into the scanner and under the GM models you can click a button and it automatically recalibrates all of the actuators at once. It's pretty cool listening to all of them cycle thru at the same time. I know the snap on Solus Edge, Snap On Modis Edge and the ones above it do that was well. There's other cheaper scanners out there that have function as well. You need to make sure the scan tool has bidirectional capabilities though as some scan tools, especially the cheap cheap ones only allow you to only scan codes at look at certain data.
    Remember always properly diagnose the problem instead of just swapping parts out as a lot of "parts changers" do especially dealerships and shops with inexperienced mechanics do. Understanding how these vehicles operate is a open doorway into fixing alot of your own stuff.

    This worked on my 2001 Silverado 5.3L. Problem was that I wasn't getting good heat. I replaced the blend door with a new one and used this method to calibrate it. I then got a flashlight and moved the temp control from cold to hot slowly and back to cold and could see the blend door moving. So, all looks good! Thanks for the video!

    DIDN'T WORK THE FIRST TIME for my '04 Silverado. I did as instructed and the air only came out of the defrost vents along the windshield. When going through the steps the vent select dial was turned full left to the upper vents on the dash. So taking a guess I set the dial to full right to the defrost vents and ran through the rest of the instructions. THAT WORKED!! Thank you this is great now I have full AC blowing out of what ever vents I select. This was done after replacing the blend door actuator, the lowest one down by the center floor vents.

    This worked like a charm.... i have the manual dual climate control as well and it was the drivers side only that was giving me the issue, it was blowing a tiny bit warm even when completely set on cold. Before the reset, i removed blend motor(original GM), carefully opened it up, inspected for broken teeth, none to be found, i cleaned the contacts and tracks thoroughly with 91% isopropyl alcohol with a q-tiq. I put it back together and made sure the notch on the shaft lined up with the center mark on the case, lined up the door shaft with the actuator, bolted it in, did the reset procedure and all is well once again, not too shabby for a 17y old part(2005 gmc scsb), luckily all the other actuators are fine.

    This also worked for me. Turn on your A/C to the highest blower setting and let it run 5 minutes, then dial up the heat leaving the blower in highest position for five minutes. this should resent your actuator to correctly blow hot or cold.

    I have been having this problem with my 2004 Suburban Z71 for over 5 years. I had a bad actuator in the back and Lambs repaired it for $360. Then, I asked about the front one and he said it could be as much as $1000, so I never did it. My HVAC control module was also giving me trouble because when I tried to increase the temp, the numbers would go up and down sporadically. I had to turn the dial very slowly and try to get one number locked at a time. Hard to do when you're freezing and shivering. So, yesterday I bought a new control module and a new driver side HVAC blend door actuator and they arrived from Amazon today. I installed them both (the actuator and the shroud were a serious pain by the center console), and I still had hot air blowing on the driver side while cold air was blowing on the passenger side. I was hoping it was a recalibration effort and not a "remove and adjust and reinstall" type of project. I found your video and it worked perfectly! THANK YOU! My car now works like it is supposed to work. It has been so long. My way of fixing this in the past was to turn the car off while in neutral and restart the car to get the AC to go back on again. First world problem for me solved today and I was cackling like a school girl when it worked. STOKED! Actuator from Dorman: $19 after tax. Saved a ton of $$$.

    • @eleventeenmachine5991
      @eleventeenmachine5991 6 років тому +3

      AnthonyJ350 no it did not. I solved the problem using a meter and traced the circuit. There was a break in the wire below the fuse box.
      And, my comment was because you talked more than you showed.
      Basically I mean you spent way more time describing the fix than showing how to do it.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  6 років тому +2

      Henry Rak Part of a dying breed That sounds like a "you" problem. If you read the comments you can see a lot of people are thankful for the fix. If you think you can do a better job by all means make your own video. I find people that make non constructive comments don't have videos of their own for people to criticise and tend to transfer this behaviour into the real world. If you don't like how much I talk, watch someone else.
