    Wouldn't it be great if all the car companies would put the parts with the highest fail rate in a place that was easy to access? Most of the time it's just the opposite, at least in my experience. Very helpful video for anyone with this system Luke.

      I would like to see companies start thinking about that. There are some cars you have to take the whole dash apart to get to this part.

      @@locindonava3680 if it has the dual climate control it is probably the same kind of actuator but it is in the middle of the dash. It is more difficult to get to than this one.

      Yes, that was the best design. Not much to go wrong. That seems to be a trend with cars. The newer ones don't even use a cable for the throttle, just an electronic actuator.

    I never comment but your video really did help! I've been putting this repair off bc I figured it would be hard but doesn't seem that way especially after I've already replaced the fan motor right next to it lol

      Yes it was. It made for a miserable ride home after a hot day outside then driving home with the heat blowing. Having the windows open and the fan off didn't keep it from flowing through the cab.

    I like when you said you may have to reach up to the shutter that controls the door between heat and cold.proved that no adjustment on the actuator.i also went on gm parts direct and purchased their part .the part that connects to the shutter was metal rather than white plastic.

    Is there a way to stick a screw driver in there and manually turn it to cool as you wait for your new part?

      Yes. You can take actuator off....and turn the part it connects to by hand. Last summer I did this and used duct tape to keep it turned all the way right, to full ac. Live in Florida so this helped a lot. Replaced blend door actuator in November. Zero issues now.

    Yes it had a cover . I change the door my the blend door actuator twice in my in my 2000 Tahoe and the first ones when I change the sound of loud you could hear the thing moving quick clink clunk clunk the second one you can barely hear anything

    My is going out I believe. In Georgia its cold in the morning and hot in afternoon. Mine is stuck In the cold position. My recirculating actuator went out couple years ago and managed to unplug that one. It’s a pain to get to but this is a easy one. My truck is a 99 Sierra which has been an excellent truck.

      That one has separate actuators for each side. from what I hear they are hard to get to.

      It will only go on in one position. I put mine in the middle on the dial and moved the door with my hand to align it.

    When I use the heater, I have the A/C light off, but I noticed that the A/C compressor clutch alternates on & off.
    What is your thought ?

      Hmm... haven't noticed if mine does that. It may be normal. I'll check when I get a chance and let you know if mine does it.

    Yeah this video is only gonna work for 2000-2006. If you have 2007.5 to 2014 with manual climate control. Then that temp actuator is going to be behind the "upper" glove box. Remove air bag
    for easier access to temp actuator & recirculation actuator.

    So I'm in a Chevy Trailblazer 08 and for some reason one side blows cold and one side blows hot. Im not sure if it is the blend actuator that went out and need a replacement or do I just needa tinker with somthing?

      If it has the dual climate zones it is probably the same part but will most likely require much more disassembly to get to it.

    Unfortunately I replaced the very actuator you show in your video but I am still only getting hot air out, no matter what direction i choose to vent. ie. defrost , down by the feet , or a combination of feet and upper body , all of those which are controlled by the switch to the right of the temp selector. Is it possible it is the SWITCH ??? itself that controls the temperature that is faulty ?? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and have a great day.

      It could have also been a defective new part. I have had that before with new parts.

    My 2002 suburban is stuck on heat, when the actuator is removed it will not move, does the control knob ever go bad?

      I'm sure it can, I think it is rare though. Are you sure the actuator is good? I have gotten bad parts right out of the box before.

    Hi Luke, do you know if that actuator is in the very same location on my 2009 Silverado 1500? I watched other videos that clean the heat
    / actuator is behind the airbag on the passenger side. Can you confirm this? Also, is this the same actuator that people referred to as the blend door actuator?

    I changed it and mine I put one on it lasted for about 6 months I bought it on Amazon and it quit all I had on it all winter with took the thing off my baby vise grip on the shaft and had it turned all the way up. The called Amazon and bought with them to try to get a replacement got a replacement put it on and it turns so slow that you can't hear you can't even hear it. But the rest of the truck you could did so hot and so much heat coming from off decides the truck and on the floor is there another issue it runs at a 210 degrees right now. Do I have to blow my radiator out if it's plugged up cuz now my heaters fluctuating and he never had before but never did that before it was always cool

    Good morning Mr. Fugate, on a 1999 Sierra 1500, is the A/C button (light) suppose to be on, when using the heater ?

      When it is in defrost the A/C light should be on. When blowing out of the heater or dash vents it should turn on and off by pressing the button.

    I replaced mine but it wont move. All fuses pulled and checked out. Wonder if my knob is broken . I can switch from defrost to all. But not ac/heat. Used to turn it manually under glovebox but now it stays cold with or without ac button on.

      Could be the controls. probably will have to replace them too. I would check for broken wires too first though.

    My problem is when i turn it to come into my vents facing me i have to turn it back n forth a hundred times almost but it’ll blow out my defrost fast and easy. I think it’s the motor under the driver side

      Most likely it is low on refrigerant. It could also have dust in the fins in the back of it.

      @@lukeFugate I failed to mention it's a little one, like 12"X 18"deep X 8" tall (that's a guess) it'll probably hold a 12pk of can pop. Not sure if this kind would make any difference. I'll clean out the back & have hubby check the other. Thanks so much!

    In my 02 silverado. It to didn't want to get off of the heat setting. But when I turned the fan to the lowest setting it switched to cool. Guessing mine is starting to go bad. Thanks for the tutorial!

      Yes, it is starting to go out. I used to be able to do that with mine and it got weaker and weaker. The fan blows on the door in a way that pushes it to the heat side so it is harder to move it from heat to cold than from cold to heat.

    I have a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3. I replaced this part and it worked. However the battery lost charge a couple of times and now I lost heat. I can’t seem to find information on this particular model but is there a way to recalibrate the actuator? Other youtubers have the processes but nothing for a 2000. Any and all help is appreciated.

      The way I think would work(I haven't tried it) would be to take the actuator off and put the control all the way to heat. then turn the little knob the actuator turns until it is all the way on heat. When you put it back together test to see if it works to put it on ac and heat.

    My old one was mixing hot with cold. I changed it to a new one, but now it is hotter than blazes. I have done the reset, several times...any suggestions?

      Might try taking the actuator off and putting the dial all the way to cold. Then take your finger and turn the door over to the all the way cold position. that way it is lined up correctly. Then put it back together and it should work. Unless you got a defective part which is possible.

      The dial can be manually moved? But it looked like it was already there.
      O'Reilly's says electronics are not taken back.

      Luke, had to take the spouse to doctor checkups in Houston, but just fooled with it all again. Tried to recalibrate, no change. The new and old do not move the female thing that goes over the stub, so maybe the new control panel does not work. Just ended up leaving the actuator off, manually moving the door to blow cold, and will just leave it for now. Don't want to bother you more than necessary. :) I really appreciate someone who actually answers comments.@@lukeFugate

      Is the motor turning the vent? If you take the actuator off and turn the knob by hand, one position should be hot and the other cold. When it blows out hot put the control on the dash over to hot. Then you can put the actuator back on and it should work correctly. If it doesn't there is either a problem with the control board or the new actuator is bad(it happens)

    My ac works but takes a second for door to open..I can hear an audible sswooshh. When it does..but my heat leaves a lot to be desired..barely gets comfortable in winter....94 Silverado 4x4 5.7..if anyone cares to help a brotha out...

      Is the engine temperature showing warm? It could be the thermostat. It could also be a vacuum leak. That model used vacuum to work the controls.

      I actually did disassemble it and it is really pretty simple. I could make a video showing how it works. I could have fixed it with a $5.00 motor.

      The actuator could be the problem if it is hot like the heater. If it is blowing the outside air temperature then it could be low on freon.
