This is a well-reasoned presentation on this car. The suspension (control arms and air components) are problematic and VERY expensive, but once sorted, are fine. They will cost a LOT if you get stuck with the work. Strutmasters worked perfectly for me. I bought an '07 460L with 98k miles 5 years ago and now have 163k miles. While there are specific concerns with the LS, many of the issues with the LS happen to all other cars -- let's be realistic on that. All cars break. The thing the LS offers for me that few other cars offer, and I'd argue no other cars offer for the same cost, is comfort, quiet, reliability, the overall fantastic driving experience. This car EATS UP the road on long trips. I have never enjoyed a car more. I drive from MSP to KC regularly, and this car goes 6 hrs at 80mph on one tank, gets 28-29 mpg (V8s love the highway cruising), and I am enjoying every minute of the stereo, the ride, the seating, all of it. This experience does not exist in smaller cars. When the '07 gets old, I will definitely look at the 2013-17 generation LS as a replacement. I would not buy new. Just too expensive. Buying used is rolling the dice, as are most decisions in life. Do what you think is right. Buying used worked great for me. This channel influenced me to try the LS way back when, and I'm supremely happy that I did. Thanks Meyn. .
Same experience as you I have 08 LS460 and I will look for the 2017 model when the time comes for an upgrade. My friend bought a non well maintained 07 LS460 and he regret it but for me I enjoy this car alot as I drive long distances frequently. ES is a city car in my opinion and won't ever meet the level of comfort of the LS. You could buy both if you can afford and leave the LS only for highways. I hate to say that modern cars are lightweight and made with lower quality materials, and I do not feel safe when driving at higher speed in them regardless what safety features offered.
You typed alot but I will say without reading everything when I had my 09 ls 460 I had problems but my 2015 ls none yet and I would never recommend someone to get the air suspension its a pain but I have a 5 year warranty on my 15
the suspension issues were pretty much worked out post 2010 tho, its just too bad those are loads more expensive and people still dont take great care of them lmao
I own 2006 LS430. I take it for its scheduled maintenance at my local Toyota dealer with no issues. I considered trading it in for a 2016/17 and was advised against it. IMHO, the LS 2005-06 models are the BEST car Lexus has ever made.
Don't do it. It's a shame the LS460 isn't a better iteration, I still love mine but goddamn if I wouldn't mind "scheduled maintenance" and not "all of your control arms need replacement" again.
I just bought a 2014 166k miles for 13k paid cash. Runs great. Valve cover gaskets leaking going to change that soon myself other than that everything is flawless. Super well maintained interior and exterior
Great video. Everything you said was true!!! I purchased a 2014 LS 460 added an extended warranty for 120k miles. Drove vehicle trouble free for 120k. Shortly after warranty expired and at 127k is when I started having problems. Brake actuator had to be replaced and coolant valley plate was leaking and had to be fixed along with a few other items. Total bill was 6k. I ended up trading my LS 460 for a low mileage 2017 GS 350 F-Sport. The LS 460 is an amazing vehicle. I didn’t want to get rid of it but I could not afford to keep it without a warranty because it is expensive to repair. It is truly a rich man’s vehicle!!!
Oh man I’m so sorry to hear that the issues started after the warranty period expired but glad you were able to buy a newer GS which is still an incredible vehicle. I really appreciate you stopping by and sharing this
@@Wealthrightthey are different vehicles. I personally prefer the GS as it feels more sporty, the LS is way more quiet and comfortable especially with air suspension.
and unfortunately they are a lot of people out there, where think that you buy a Lexus and than you can drive it 10 or more years without any problem 😅, thanks Kevin.
Got a 2013 f sport ls460 , great car, 80,000 kms, had a water leak that cost $1.2k, Lexus quoted me $3k to replace the analog clock as the dash had to come out, I declined. Front brakes cost $3k but they offered after market brakes pads for half that and in my opinion they are better than Lexus brake pads. Owned it now for 4 years, no regrets
Lexus replaced my front Brembo pads and new rotors .They estimate about 900 dollars but when done they only charge me 600 dollars.I don’t know why?and don’t want to know
My wife drives a 2014 LS460 now with about 56,000 miles, bought used but Lexus certified, just a windshield wiper rain senser went bad and fixed on warrantee, and recently the analog clock is slowly twisting to the right in it's enclosure, but works fine, I just change the oil once a year, recently had all of the fluids replaced, and it keeps on running. I have otherwise had no problems with this vehicle. A very comfortable interior and a great riding car that soaks up the road, and having had a 1995 and then a 1998 LS 400 which was kept for 19 years, we will keep this car for perhaps another 6-7 years. I really enjoy the V8 engine. Given the horror stories some of my other friends have had with their German cars, I just smirk and remain silent. I have now had 6 different Lexus vehicles, with minimal problems and a joy to own. My daily driver is a 2020 RC350 F-Sport. No complaints what so ever.
Thanks so much for sharing this! Very useful information. I never understood why people keep these Euro cars past their warranty despite knowing how bad they are as most of them age
Hey dude just bought a 14 ls460 with 132k on er its really a dream. Got er for 21 grand with da awd. Its like new in and out doesn't burn a bottle cap of oil in-between oil changes.... made sure to check da coolant and break master before purchase was clean as can be. Got to be a car guru to enjoy a beautiful car like dis. Cars worth 20k all day dats fir sure the v8 alone is so buttery but got a nice punch up top.
Dude you have convinced me. Bought my LC500 based alot on your advice. Some teenage kid just hit it yesterday :(. I think I am going to sell it if it's not totaled and buy 16-17 LS460.
Oh wow I’m so sorry to hear that, I’m just glad you’re ok my friend . LS 460 is def amazing but it won’t capture that special feel of the LC, have you looked into Porsche GT4 the new one? Or do you want to switch it up and get one of these big body sedans for comfort?
I wont suggest getting ls460 over lc500 as its the better car , better engine sound better drive faster and as comfortable as ls460 if not better with the 10 gears which is better for long trips and fuel economy.
I'd say go for the LS600hL. On paper it doesn't make a lot of sense but after having owned mine since early this year, it's definitely worth the upgrade over an LS460
That's a tough brake BeardTube, sometimes our cars are idiot magnets on the roadway! I got a 2017 LS earlier this year for $36,500 @69,500 miles. I would have much preferred it in Liquid platinum color vs. the Eminent White Pearl it came with but that is my sole complaint. The car says Quality in every detail, in a way that not even Mercedes can emulate anymore.
I honestly want to upgrade to an LS460 but upon seeing your videos Kevin to how much your spending on suspension alone scared me off and my 07 GS350 has been nothing but great experience so far the 2GR is such easy motor to maintain
As a UK-based owner of a used 2014 LS460 F-Sport (quite a rare car here compared to the US because nobody bought them), I agree with your advice. Buy cash, and keep in mind this was an ~$80k car when new (~$100k in 2023 money). I love the car, and the only trouble it has given me has been of my own doing or minor issues like battery replacement (after 9 years the original battery just needed replaced) - but running costs here are fairly high, between fuel, road tax, insurance and servicing (probably costs me about £2.5k annually to keep on the road excluding fuel). It's also quite a big car for parking in UK/Europe, but that's also true of the S-Class (which I wasn't quite brave or rich enough to go for, even though our household income is over £200k).
One thing I disagree on with the current generation ES is the seat comfort. The seats in the ES are horrible; rock hard, and I was set to buy this one to replace my current one, but the awful seats turned me off from the whole car. It does look sharp, but a previous generation ES plus a 13-17 LS will be my preferred setup.
I drove ES 350 2022 and LS 460 2016. the LS 460 is mach more fan to drive , grreat V8 engine . and more comfortable compare to ES 350. someting incredible, we checked the noise in the Highway 110 km , the LS 460 is more quiet then Tesla Model Y , that dont have engine . the insulation of road noise is much better. the LS 460 is a wimmer for my opinion.
I own ls460 2013 and drove es350 fsport 2019 for one week , it drive worse becasue of the front wheel and the v6 does not drive like ls v8 and its the front wheel that kills it for me compared to ls460 awd or rwd .
I own an F sport RWD. Beautiful car, hard to find not too many on the road. Couple things, I replaced the Air struts (not cheap!!). Took my car into Lexus for an oil change an control arms are starting to go. I think OEM control arms will be the best bet but they're NOT cheap. Seems like every 9 months I change brakes, this time I'm going after market with high carbon rotors and whatever ceramic pads I can find. I have the F sport so the brakes are more costly than the regular 460,. Now the only thing I hate about the car is the wind noise and the flaky blue tooth... drives me nuts. Other than that, it's a great car, fun to drive and looks so stunning. I'd only recommend the F sport :)
Thank you. I watched your previous LS460 and LS430 videos, along with those of other creators and purchased, outright, an '05 LS430 that was taken to the Lexus dealer where it was bought every 5000 miles for service and traded in and put up for sale by that same dealer. It is an absolute joy to drive, a buttery-smooth engine as you said in your LS430 videos. There are few, if any, warranty options for a car that age, and even if you find one that is a one-owner, well-maintained, still plan on spending $2000+ right off the bat, most likely on suspension issues.
Thank you so much for taking the time to share this comment my friend, very useful information about lack of warranty availability on older cars. But massive congrats on the epic machine the LS430 is truly a special product but thanks again for bringing things back to reality by mentioning potential suspension replacement costs.
Just budget $10k for maintenance if you buy the LS and don't worry about it. Keep in mind you are paying $30k for a MSRP $100k flagship car. FYI, I test drove a 2023 ES Hybrid, it's smooth and quiet, BUT not plush like the LS (because not air suspension).
I currently have a Ls430. Also had a 2015 Ls460. I can tell you just by looking at both engine bays. The 460 motor is cluttered and looks like a massive headache to work on. Everything is more complex and complicated. For example it uses dual intake filters. Had a few issues that made me get rid of it. I had the coolant issue from the valleys. The brake actuator was getting nosier. Wheel bearings are common. Moonroof rubberseal dry rotted and was making a lot of wind noise, tried replacing but they sell it together with glass ($700 part) analog clock on dash stopped working ($200) control arms are pricey as well
I'm wondering if treating the accordion seal on the Moonroof, with silicone or 3 in 1 rubber lube, could head off that repair. Seals are easy to keep up and the toughest part of maintaining the myriad of rubber bits all over the LS (with the worst being those bushings in the front end, no doubt!) might be just remembering to do it in the first place.
Just have to give props to this video. This generation LS is just not for everyone. A few big dollar repairs as mentioned here. This could be a great 2nd vehicle OR if you put on less miles by working from home or something, then it works out. Each of the big dollar fixes should be good for 125000 to 200000 miles, so if you keep it a long time it will all work out and hopefully those repairs/big maintenance (bushings and shocks are maintenance items) will not double up on you and you can spread them out. If you are thinking 30-50,000 mi/yr I would strongly suggest an ES instead. Unless you are comfortable handling all of these issues every 3-6 years or so. Food for thought from an LS600 owner.
Well stated I own a 13 ls460 rwd, these cars are expensive to maintain if you are not a DIYer. The parts are not too bad if you source out yourself properly. Labor will kill you if shop is involved, doesn’t break this is just my observation from brakes and suspension which seems to be the only things that will get replaced. Suspension will last about 8-10 years if quality is used. Must have diagnostic tool or tech stream and purchase a repair download for the 460 specific and you will absolutely enjoy the car
Thanks for the tips these are really useful. Though in my experience most people are not able to be disciplined enough to do this due dilligence nor thoroughly weigh the consequences of making a purchase like this. The only ones that will heed your advice are the ones that already know it, for the most part.
Great video! I agree with everything you said. The Lexus LS is a very reliable vehicle overall but as they age maintenance will need to be done older parts will need to be replaced. Unfortunately alot of consumers live for the moment and try to impress their friends and family. I personally purchased a 2015 RX350 2 years ago and I had to do some maintenance because it had 90k miles. Once everything was completed it has been a very reliable vehicle. I always recommend having at least $2000 for repairs when you a purchase a used vehicle.
Thanks for sharing this my friend you are absolutely right this is a solid car and very dependable for the most part but for the wrong person who can't budget for a few anomalies, this will not be a blessing for them
i watched all of your ls 460 videos before i decided to buy one a few months ago. i got a california 2014 ls 460 fsport with 65k miles and a great interior for 31k. my mom has a 2022 es350 and its comparable to the LS, but the LS is definitely more comfortable and more premium, albeit dated. my parents strongly pushed me to get another ES, but i am young, have no debts, minimal responsibility, and disposable income, so i picked the LS. i can handle a few thousand dollars in repairs, but i'll be groaning and moaning the day it happens
I have a 2017 with no issues so far . I do hate the noisy brake actuator. For a car of this caliber , that really should not be the case . I mean it is noisy. I also do hear some nosies in the front while turning the steering wheel while parking .
Good reviews. I saw other videos from you. I bought a very low miles LS460 F-sport. Did not like the LS500. All cars have problems but Lexus have fewer than other luxury brands.
Do it, but not without a CPO warranty. I had a 14 F Sport for 3 years. Door locks failed on all four doors (rear drivers side twice). That was over $2k covered under warranty. Rear air springs intermittently deflated. I could temporarily reinflate them by setting the ride height to “high” but at $2000 per corner, that’s where I tapped out. Overall, fantastic car. But I’d never own one out of warranty.
Have bought three Lexus LS 460 ( 10,07,07) ; ran into actuator problem with one of them n suspension problem with 2 of them … but still looking to buy my 4th LS460 There is just something about its refined luxury that is unimaginable at this price point ( once u have accounted for the expensive repairs via warranty etc that is )
My buddy has a 2015 LS he mentioned how if you keep up with the manitence it aint a bad car, however when the car has issues they seem to stack on each other.
Yea my friend I agree with you it's not that this is a bad vehicle it's pretty dependable for what it is but it's like you mentioned the issues stack and on top of that, the maintenance stacks on top of any potential issues
Adding on to this comment. I bought my LS460 2015 AWD new. As the only owner, I have taken the car only to the Lexus dealership nearest me. This car will cost you on maintenance, no way around that. However, Lexus is expensive to buy, not usually to own. Meaning, as this my third Lexus. I can only say, do your research. Know what you are getting into. Be a true automobile owner and not just car owner, there is a difference. Do exactly what the manufacturer recommends, and if you choose to purchase this car, OEM parts well worth considering. You must have the funds to keep this car well cared for. As he stated if you do not, please do not even consider purchasing it without doing a thorough analysis of your financials. Seriously, when things break (which is NOT often) they break, and you WILL have to pay. Outside of that. EXCELLENT vehicle. It is my main ride, and I truly love owning this vehicle. Wishing you the best!
I tell people all the time if you can only own one vehicle, it should be a ES 350 It will match all of your checklist boxes And it has more room in the backseat because it’s front wheel drive and there’s no driveshaft tunnel in the floor
I've always felt like there's a bit of fear mongering around these cars, especially compared to the 400 & 430 where people (erroneously) act like they're hewn from a solid block of metal & barely need oil changes That said, I recently purchased one of these being fully-aware of the common problems & costs associated. I immediately sent it to get the control arms warrantied, so I haven't even been able to drive the car since purchasing it which has allowed my mind to wander Between that & seeing videos like this post-purchase, it has not been particularly good for my nerves lol I'm optimistic it'll be a good car in the end for me, but it's my first time owning a car at this level of complexity, so fear of the unknown and all that.
I think you will be fine my friend the car is amazing and honestly compared to its rivals, this will be dependable for the most part especially if you bought a clean one. I just want people to be aware of what may potentially go wrong and the costs of those components. After all, you always hear about those people that buy cars like this and put 250k miles on it with no issues, let's hope you are one of those people
@@MeynMotorGroup I believe I will be, but we'll hope! The control arms are being sorted, otherwise it got a perfect bill of health from the PPI I got. It has a good service history behind it & is optioned in a way I adore, most importantly for me it's RWD & without the serious cost-adders like air suspension. Hoping the (somewhat) reduced complexity pays off.
@@themattie6120 I think you will be fine, considering the service history. You might be a little nervous if there was missing service history. Typically someone that cares enough about their car to take it in for regular maintenance will take care of it in other aspects as well.
You will be fine. You purchased the most reliable and durable flagship luxury vehicle. Just make sure you do your preventive maintenance and understand you own a $80k plus vehicle when it was new.
People love to believe that Lexus fixed all the 2007-2012 issues on the 2013 and later model----but the data shows that this just isn't true. Improvement, maybe. Solutions, no. Those common issues everyone talks about, control arms and brake actuator, are still problematic 2013 and later. The melting interior plastics are not nearly as big a problem, but I do think people in 2013 and later LS models still report it. I'm not sure about the valley plate leak.
Brake actuator failure, coolant pipe leaks, air shock and control arm failure are known issues on these cars typically once they get up in mileage...buy the lowest mileage one you can afford with a warranty, only use OEM parts, and try not to use it as a hard core daily driver, luckily i only use mine on weekends and occasional road trips, the GS and the new ES are really good alternatives
AWD V8? That's the appealing thing to me. I'm just really upset that the new IS 500 didn't come in AWD. Snow isn't fun without it. I'm gonna save up for one of these and keep it until it rusts apart.
It's absolutely wild that you can buy one of these for ~15-20k dollars, fully loaded (LKA, adaptive cruise control, ability to watch TV in the front and rear, full reclining with ottoman rear seats with shiatsu massage and all that, or full reclining front passenger seat) with only ~30k-80k miles, but not in the US 😂
Yea but like we discovered this car won't be a blessing to everyone at under $20k and not just that when it is used like that with mileage the interior gets nasty if not taken care of
The key point he made, the wrong people are going to buy an LS. In other words, people buying one second hand on finance or living week to week. If this is you, don’t learn the hard way.
More tech more problems, even though I have 2011 fully loaded is250, 2014 is250 problem free and a 2017 rx350 so far running smooth. I really like those years LX but now you are scaring me.
Great video! You mentioned extending the warranty, and I'm very interested. I recently bought a 2020 RX350 with 25,000km mileage on it. Do I need to purchase an extended warranty?
@@350zlover2 Yes, I also tend to agree with your opinion. Because Lexus has excellent quality and enjoys a good reputation in North America, the price of used cars already includes a premium. Therefore, it seems unnecessary to spend extra money on purchasing an extended warranty.
Preventive maintenance the other guys said. What about just when stuff breaks for no reason. All newer cars have too much going on I recommend a warranty. Average shop. not a Lexus shop. average shop charges 175$ an hour here in USA for labor only. parts are crazy expensive also. If warranty is good and affordable warranty all day imo
If one needs a warranty on a new or used car purchase. Then they should probably select a different manufacturer and or model. Otherwise, why shell out all that money for the purchase ? Mine as well just keep your existing car.
Your comment about people who can't afford to own these cars is very true. You can buy LS460 for the price of a Camry these days but you still have to pay LS460 money for maintenance every time you take it to the shop. Cost of maintenance might be shocking for unprepared person. LOL. Another thing to keep in mind is that LS is rather rare car, made in Japan in small quantities and you can't just walk into any local auto parts store and buy parts for it. With that being said it is a great car and if you can afford to maintain it you will never be disappointed. 2017 LS460 RWD is my year around daily driver and I love it. Last normally aspirated 4.6 V8 Lexus sedan.
I was very surprise that the only luxury car that had a better reliability record than a LS 460 is a Lincoln Towncar! Yes an American car scored better than a LS460! At first I couldn't believe it but after studying both cars and finding some Towncars reaching a million miles. Yes the best from Ford vs best from Toyota yes the Towncar is great! Too bad it is no longer available!
i have a 2013 LS 460 standard wheel base. bought with 83k miles and put 20k miles on it. burning about a quart of oil every 2k miles. also a surging feeling from the engine, which has no impact on engine rpm. just a repetitive whooshing noise. otherwise a pretty nice car
I have a 2017 LS and to me, having an over 100K engine that burns a qt of oil in 2000 miles, is really not too unreasonable, all things considered! Not only do the V8's in our cars have "low tension" piston rings to begin with, but the engine's factory fill of 0W-20 oil is extremely thin viscosity too. These two factors alone would set up just about any engine made for at least SOME oil burning, I say one qt in 2000 is not bad at all. Considering the price it would cost to fix a very minor issue, I'd leave it be, of course.
That scares me . I also have a 2017 with 66k miles currently . Does not burn a drop of oil and hopefully stays like that for a long time . Last year i switched to 5w-30. The 0w-20 is like water almost .
@@ClassicXL86 I concur that the 0w20 that the LS 460 requires, does seem ridiculously thin and at first glance, does go against everything I thought I knew about engine oil. But Lexus supposedly ought to know the car better than anybody and that is the only reason I keep using it. And if and when Lexus changes their recommendation and says its ok to use 5W-30 I'll be the first one changing over to it...
Great video. I agree with you 100%. I recently purchased a 2017 ES350 at CarMax. It is extremely frustrating to find a well taken care of Lexus. The one I purchased was scratched up on the exterior, and the inside looked worse than some rentals I have been in. I had the dealer fix the exterior, and I took care of the interior, mostly cosmetic. I purchased in mainly for the miles, and incredibly, it was in better shape than other I had seen for sale used.
You must have money to drive nice cars. Even if this generation gets to 6k used in 15 years, you still have to deal with the low gas mileage, premium gas, maintenance. You must pay to play. I want to get the 07+ LS, its like 6k now with 200k, but i see videos on them, with the suspension issues and other stuff, it costs like 8k to fix this and that. Its really expensive
@@MeynMotorGroup -- LS430 is my first choice, actually. But they are ridiculously over priced in my area. Rough ones, salvage titles, etc, are going go for 11K, that clearly need a lot of work -- asking thousands above KBB and not even fixing the super obvious stuff with these cars. I can't wait until it the car market comes crashing down, back to reality.
Thanks for the NHTSA and car complaints websites. I'll add those to my research. I have relied less on car reviewers opinions because those cars a brand new with all the bells and whistles. Plus reviewers tend to ALWAYS say the same favorable BS because they are trying to get more press cars. I started following a guy from NCSU a few years ago for his no-BS style. I will definitely use the sites for the QX70, cause it seems to be hit or miss from owners. 2nd and 3rd owners beat TS outta cars 😂 Even the old Venza is on my radar
Man I really appreciate that my friend and thank you for the support you have shown me for all these years. I think many will be happy to hear I have virtually zero relationships with any car make, in fact the last dozen or so vehicles I recently reviewed, I literally paid several thousands of dollars to feature those cars on the channel like the new Yukon I'm going to be posting tomorrow. But yea these are some great resources for sure does a great job in compiling various issues and complaints. Best of luck in your search!
The only one I had experience with is Hendrick AutoGuard Platinum and that was great, some people say the CarMax warranty is good others say it’s not so great. Most big dealerships will sell warranties to you but just make sure it is a proper bumper to bumper warranty that covers electricals, HVAC, powertrain, etc and make sure it is pro rated so if you get a 4 year warranty and you decide to sell the car in 2 years, you get a refund for that unused portion of the warranty
Even Scotty Kilmer who worship's Toyota/Lexus Products has started for people to be cautious of the LS V8. Although they have great rides, the V8 are going to have more complications then the V6.
Just make sure you don't buy pre-certified Lexus I took delivery of mines it had a whole bunch of scratches the dashboard is becoming on glue the screen for the entertainment system is damaged and Lexus refuse to fix any of it it's been a total nightmare
Do you know what the cause of it is or has a dealer taken a look at your car to identify what might be causing this issue? Been trying to figure this out for a long time
@@MeynMotorGroup sorry I didn’t know you responded. I asked the dealer and he said it’s something to do with the design which causes the airflow to make the sound. He said they have removed the rear glass and put in new insulation which seems to have helped other customer. I was thinking of adding some kind of lip to deflect the wind but havent done it yet. Anyway I’m thinking of turning in my car for a 2021 or newer now because they are saying I need to replace my suspension which will be $8500.
I'll not recommend owning a LS460 without warranty. QC/Build is horseshit. I had LS400 that i drove til 265k on original engine and transmission without any hassles. I have 2012 LS460 with 80k miles, that needs a new transmission. Previous owner have a long history of replacing several electronics in this car. I would avoid LS460 at any cost. if you ever see one with electrical problems, run away. The car has ECU for every single component and it gets very complicated to diagnose.

You bought the worst LS. Too many problems. The 430 is a better car. I own both a 430 and a 460 but not an 07. My 430 is much more trouble free.
the suspension issues were pretty much worked out post 2010 tho, its just too bad those are loads more expensive and people still dont take great care of them lmao
I really appreciate you stopping by and sharing this
Good to hear.... unfortunately about the post warranty repairs. The LS is a gorgeous car but I don't want a money pit

I had a GS before but not LS. How much of a downgrade the GS is compared to the LS?
@@Wealthrightthey are different vehicles. I personally prefer the GS as it feels more sporty, the LS is way more quiet and comfortable especially with air suspension.
and unfortunately they are a lot of people out there, where think that you buy a Lexus and than you can drive it 10 or more years without any problem 😅, thanks Kevin.
Yea these are solid vehicles and I’m sure the drivetrain will be fine but there is a lot more to a car than just its engine and transmission
@@MeynMotorGroup yes a lot more.
The only solid made Lexus I know off LS400, LS430, ES300H, GS350 and 2016 - 2021 LX570
My wife now has 9 years on her 2014 LS460. There have been 0 problems mechanically. A terrific car, IMO.
@@m.newman7722 and electric ?
Moonroof rubberseal dry rotted and was making a lot of wind noise, tried replacing but they sell it together with glass ($700 part) analog clock on dash stopped working ($200) control arms are pricey as well
This is incredibly useful, thank you so much for sharing this with us!
This is a great summary my friend thank you for taking the time to share this, it's exactly how I feel
How many miles do you have on your LS600h(/L)?
@@Nathan_Jay currently 147,500.
I own a 2018 LS500, my recommendation is that it shouldn't be your daily driver. Rides like a charm. Feels amazing. I use an RX350 to get around
Thanks for the tips these are really useful. Though in my experience most people are not able to be disciplined enough to do this due dilligence nor thoroughly weigh the consequences of making a purchase like this. The only ones that will heed your advice are the ones that already know it, for the most part.
Yea my friend I know exactly what you mean the people that need to hear this often never find this info nor do they look for it
Great video!
Well let's hope you end up being one of the people that drive the car for 300k miles with no issues
You did the better option getting ls over es , enjoy have mine for 5 years no issues just abs hhhhhh
I have a 2017 with no issues so far . I do hate the noisy brake actuator. For a car of this caliber , that really should not be the case . I mean it is noisy.
I also do hear some nosies in the front while turning the steering wheel while parking .
LS 460 is far superior to any of it’s peers, but nothing can touch the reliability of the LS 430.
I have a 2014 F Sport All wheel drive. Its my second 460. I love the cars but you have to be able to maintain them.
Good reviews. I saw other videos from you. I bought a very low miles LS460 F-sport. Did not like the LS500. All cars have problems but Lexus have fewer than other luxury brands.
Ls500 lacks something?
Do it, but not without a CPO warranty. I had a 14 F Sport for 3 years. Door locks failed on all four doors (rear drivers side twice). That was over $2k covered under warranty. Rear air springs intermittently deflated. I could temporarily reinflate them by setting the ride height to “high” but at $2000 per corner, that’s where I tapped out. Overall, fantastic car. But I’d never own one out of warranty.
This video is so on point
Honestly buy one without the air suspension and you dont have to worry about that problem at all.
Have bought three Lexus LS 460 ( 10,07,07) ; ran into actuator problem with one of them n suspension problem with 2 of them … but still looking to buy my 4th LS460
There is just something about its refined luxury that is unimaginable at this price point ( once u have accounted for the expensive repairs via warranty etc that is )
My buddy has a 2015 LS he mentioned how if you keep up with the manitence it aint a bad car, however when the car has issues they seem to stack on each other.
Yea my friend I agree with you it's not that this is a bad vehicle it's pretty dependable for what it is but it's like you mentioned the issues stack and on top of that, the maintenance stacks on top of any potential issues
@@MeynMotorGroup Keep up the great work by the way. Your hard work doesn't go unnoticed.

I tell people all the time if you can only own one vehicle, it should be a ES 350
It will match all of your checklist boxes
And it has more room in the backseat because it’s front wheel drive and there’s no driveshaft tunnel in the floor
I've always felt like there's a bit of fear mongering around these cars, especially compared to the 400 & 430 where people (erroneously) act like they're hewn from a solid block of metal & barely need oil changes
That said, I recently purchased one of these being fully-aware of the common problems & costs associated. I immediately sent it to get the control arms warrantied, so I haven't even been able to drive the car since purchasing it which has allowed my mind to wander
Between that & seeing videos like this post-purchase, it has not been particularly good for my nerves lol
I'm optimistic it'll be a good car in the end for me, but it's my first time owning a car at this level of complexity, so fear of the unknown and all that.
@themattie6120 how is it treating you now? I didn't know it had a warranty even used after all these years
People love to believe that Lexus fixed all the 2007-2012 issues on the 2013 and later model----but the data shows that this just isn't true.
Yes thank you so much for sharing this my friend very useful points
AWD V8? That's the appealing thing to me. I'm just really upset that the new IS 500 didn't come in AWD. Snow isn't fun without it. I'm gonna save up for one of these and keep it until it rusts apart.
It's absolutely wild that you can buy one of these for ~15-20k dollars, fully loaded (LKA, adaptive cruise control, ability to watch TV in the front and rear, full reclining with ottoman rear seats with shiatsu massage and all that, or full reclining front passenger seat) with only ~30k-80k miles, but not in the US 😂
Yea but like we discovered this car won't be a blessing to everyone at under $20k and not just that when it is used like that with mileage the interior gets nasty if not taken care of
Where it sell for this price ?
I have one and all maintenance is up to date....plus shocks and control arms covered under warranty
Your vid is on point as usual bro!
Thank you for your kind words my friend glad the content could be valuable to you!

Glad you have had a great experience my friend
The solution to wind noise is to turn your music up lol and get a warranty if you can for the expensive parts.
Great video! You mentioned extending the warranty, and I'm very interested. I recently bought a 2020 RX350 with 25,000km mileage on it. Do I need to purchase an extended warranty?
I wouldn't get a extended warranty on a newer RX. Just have some money in your savings account for any preventive maintenance.
The control arm issue should be a recall. It went out twice on my '08 600hl
I'm so sorry to hear that my friend. Yea the control arms with these flagship luxury vehicles is such a pain
Cheers Mr Lexus!
Appreciate you my friend thanks for dropping in as always!
Would you take a cheap ls460 2007 with repairs done on it or expensive 2013?
Will Lexus replace the brake actuator at no cost for any LS?
I had some a question about which is the most expensive vehicule to own whether the LS 460 2017 or the 2018 LX 570?
Great video. I agree with you 100%. I recently purchased a 2017 ES350 at CarMax. It is extremely frustrating to find a well taken care of Lexus. The one I purchased was scratched up on the exterior, and the inside looked worse than some rentals I have been in. I had the dealer fix the exterior, and I took care of the interior, mostly cosmetic. I purchased in mainly for the miles, and incredibly, it was in better shape than other I had seen for sale used.
Congrats on your new purchase my friend!
I would buy a very nice one owner LS430 and call it a day.
I'm interested in the 2007 to 2012 models, but the sticky dash issue has me freaked out. A lot of them have never been replaced.
Yea I would def avoid that tons of sticky panels just makes a nasty interior
@@MeynMotorGroup -- LS430 is my first choice, actually. But they are ridiculously over priced in my area. Rough ones, salvage titles, etc, are going go for 11K, that clearly need a lot of work -- asking thousands above KBB and not even fixing the super obvious stuff with these cars. I can't wait until it the car market comes crashing down, back to reality.
The sticky dash issues was an 07-09 issue that was fixed when the '10-12 midcycle refresh debuted. I have not had sticky dash on my '12 LS 460

I have a 2017 LS460 and the wind noise from the rear at 70mph is very annoying .
Do you know what the cause of it is or has a dealer taken a look at your car to identify what might be causing this issue? Been trying to figure this out for a long time
I have a 2017 as well and i do not notice any wind noise from the rear and i have extreme ocd . I do noticed it up front around the rear view mirrow .
@@ClassicXL86 you might be one of the lucky ones who doesn’t have this issue!
I have an old 2012 LS, and absolutely no wind noise at any speed (I have gone to 100mph) maybe the older LSs were made better?
I'll not recommend owning a LS460 without warranty. QC/Build is horseshit. I had LS400 that i drove til 265k on original engine and transmission without any hassles. I have 2012 LS460 with 80k miles, that needs a new transmission. Previous owner have a long history of replacing several electronics in this car. I would avoid LS460 at any cost. if you ever see one with electrical problems, run away. The car has ECU for every single component and it gets very complicated to diagnose.
You just got unlucky with a bad condition car
The 2007 to 2012 was a POS. The 2013 to 2017 is a better vehicle in all aspects
My '12 Lexus LS has 178,000, and very well made car, with no problems.
Looks like a freaking Camry

Do not buy this car as your daily driver 💯💯💯
You have one ?
Have a 2017 for the last 4 years , put nearly 50k miles withing those 4 years without one issue so far . Civic for a daily ? Nah.
Unless your job is only 6 miles away like mine
