For me, coming from an iPad Air 3, if something happened to it I’d probably get the iPad 9 to replace it, with 256 Gb of storage, cellular and the pen, since I already have the keyboard. It would be far cheaper than the Air 4 with the same accessories and storage etc, plus I’d rather have the headphone jack and I prefer the home button. I don’t mind the older design and the A13 chip is more than fast enough to do everything I want it to do.I actually prefer the larger bezels for gaming as well, since it’s easier to avoid touching the screen unintentionally. I bought the iPad 9th generation 64gb This is my first ever apple device and at this price point I guess it's a very nice entry into the ecosystem I'm a doctor and I mostly use the device for watching some lecture videos, solving tests, normal document work with word excel powerpoint and PDFs And so far 64gb looks enough
I bought the gen9 ipad after your review and I love it. The battery life was amazing and the performing was great for a student who only need a tablet for reading pdfs and note taking. The screen time on my ipad is 7-8 hours a day but at the end of the day i still have ~20-30% left to play games or watch movies. The only down side is the gen9 does not support apple pen 2. But I found myself using the pen1 just great. Totally worth the money! Thank you ❤
@@TechGearTalk I need it to study, and edit some 4K vídeos from my GoPro (shorts) because I edit on my Laptop. I'm between an Ipad air 4 64GB and an Ipad 9th 256 GB for almost the same price. Do you think the 9th generation will work for me?
I just bought the ipad Air 4 to replace my ipad air 2. I compared it to my daughter’s ipad 8. I like the larger screen and the better speakers, as well as the opportunity to use the second generation pencil. So far so good.
The iPad 9 seems great for the price! To me if you are going to get the Air with additional storage just get the 11" Pro with the M1, the cost difference is a lot less between those compared to the 9 vs the Air and the M1 is a beast!
Finally! I've been waiting for this video since your iPad 9 pre-order video 😅 Thanks so much for making this content. This video did help me to choose iPad 9th gen instead of iPad Air 4, based on purpose of use and comparison of specs. Also just noticed, that at 0:54 you mentioned iPad Air 9 🤭. Still a great video. Thanks so much keep it up! 😊
The old design of the iPad 9th gen has me hung up, like I really suspect apple left the huge bezels on it to steer some people into buying the more expensive modern looking ipads. I want to like the regular one but I just ugh 😫
The bezels are the way that they are to keep costs low. Same reason for the non-laminated display. In a few years, odds are that today’s display tech will become cheaper and Apple will eventually be able to switch to something which looks more modern.
I got the ipad 9 at launch a few weeks ago and I've had no complaints so far. Coming from a kindle fire HD10 I wanted a tablet that wasn't too expensive but had plenty of power to last me for a few years, and the ipad 9 fit the bill to a T. Only real gripe is the lack of stereo speakers whenever I'm watching content, but I have wireless headphones anyway so it's not that big of a deal.
I tried the new fire HD 10 and it’s too slow to load up books and browsing the web. I tried two different hd10 thinking the first one was a defect but second device had the same effects. iPad 9 will be the highest selling iPad in 2021. Great choice on buying one.
Thanks for doing this. I’ve been searching for a in-depth non bias comparison. This video was great! I have the 9th gen and was thinking of switching but I’m not an artist or gamer so it doesn’t make sense. Thanks for this
Best bang for your buck is the IPad 9 -particularly at 256 gb Got it on sale at launch for $459 - over $100 cheaper than the Air 4 with 64 BG - and so far, it’s been sensational. Most recently I had the 10.5 Air 3 - but that laminated screen once again developed a problem! A bright white spot appeared on the display a couple of inches above the home button. Sadly this seems to be very common with these laminated displays - which I love, but which I think are very overrated - especially since it’s the second time that same issue happened to a laminated IPad I owned!! Besides that - 2 other reasons - I have the first generation pencil and upgrading would cost another $129 - No headphone jack on the new designs - the 9 is probably the very last IPad that will have that feature So it’s an easy choice for me - sure it’s not as cool looking - But in every other way that’s important - to me, the 9 is clearly the better buy here!
I hear you on the display issues. I have 3 of the Air 3’s and luckily apple agreed to replace all 3 of them and said the manufacture for the display has updated them and says they no longer have this white spot issue. I guess we’ll find out
So its like that last fatchick in the bar? That even though the hot chicks are all gone at least you don’t have to go home by yourself if you lower your standards and expectations and that will do?
Essentially the ipad 9 does everything the Air can do the Air just does it better or is a step up. I think its worth it for people to look at the other Apple products they own. If you have a mac idk why you would bother wasting a few hundred dollars on the Air or 11” Pro.
I got the iPad 9th generation and love it. It works great. I’ve used it for gaming and for emails and web browsing. I also purchased the Logitech combo touch keyboard and it was a great investment.
I think I’m going to do the same lol I was stuck between purchasing the iPad mini or the iPad 9 gen as my first ever iPad but I think I might go for the iPad 9
Ok, this will be a long one, but, I don't usually comment on videos and stuff: but I'm an artist myself. I've been using procreate for the last one and a half month, and I've not noticed what everyone has said it was going to be better on the iPad air 4. Like, I'm really doing okay with my apple pencil 1. Charing is really fast, and if you need to charge it, make sure your iPad is charged and you can eat a snack, go to the bathroom, brush your teeth, or anything for more than 5 minutes and the apple pencil will have more than enough battery to use for like 2 or 3 days. Second of all, the drawing performance on the iPad 9 is just ridiculously good. I had a Galaxy tab S6 lite and clip studio paint lagged all the time. It was like 30ms or something on clip studio. Sketching was *h a r d* I've also tried the iPad pro 2020 for drawing. Sketched a few things in there and in my opinion, I've had the same exact experience. They're both amazing. TL;DR: If you don't forget to charge your iPad daily and you need battery on the apple pencil, leave the pencil charging for 15 minutes and it will be full battery again. It's literally that fast. Don't worry about if the display is laminated or not, you won't noticed. I've also tried the Kamvas 13 in the past, which is a fully laminated display, the iPad pro 2020 and I've not noticed a single difference while drawing. I absolutely recommend the iPad 9 if you're an artist. Even if you're a hardcore artist who makes very big art pieces, it'll be just fine.
Thanks for your review. I'm very confusing to choose Basic Ipad or Air 4 acctually wkwkwkwk. And your review make me decide to choose Ipad 9 for my daily drive
@@quirkyguy29 just for note taking and edit video for exercise in my university. Most of all recommend me to buy Basic Ipad, cause cheaper than air and it worth to buy for the first experience. Btw it's my first Ipad wkwkwk
As a iphone 13 owner i have never had a ipad but brought a ipad 2021 today for my daughters birthday tomorrow. For the price tag of £300 i was blown away by how good the ipad 2021 is the display screen, performance in gaming or web browsing is very good. I think i might look into the pro ;)
Other than the Full screen display, the chip and magic keyboard support, it’s really not much of a difference really! Would like to see a redesign on the base iPad tho l
I upgraded from the 7 because of the space difference. Both function well and the battery on the 9 is great. I have a problem with the speaker on incoming FaceTime calls but it’s awesome.
I always enjoy watching your videos! Very informational and as a content creator myself, I appreciate the effort you put in to making such wonderful and valuable contents. More power to you!
Thank you for this! I choose iPad 9th 64gb because it's the only one I can afford. Mine is on the way so I'm exicted for it. If one day I have enough money, I'll go for iPad Pro 😊
I want to use an iPad for Steam Remote gaming (occasional, not always), Watching Video content (Netflix, and all), reading (PDFs) and playing Games (Clash of Clans, PuBG, etc.). Which iPad would you recommend?
I have the M1 Macbook Air and an iPhone 12. For me, the iPad 9 is a perfect go-between since I do all my heavy lifting on the Macbook. However, for those who do not have a Mac or Macbook but want something that can give a better "laptop" experience, the Air 4 might be a better choice - in my opinion of course.
i’ve been waiting for you to release a video like this and i’m so so thankful u act made one! literally my fav channel when i need tips like this! thank you so much!
I asked for this comparison on your iPad 8 vs 9 video around last week. With this video I was finally able to make up my mind and decided on the iPad Air 4! Got it yesterday and loving every bits of it. Many thanks to you mate!
Hello, im a medstud and confuse what ipad should i buy...i use it for taking note but sometimes i will use it to learn drawing... what will you recommend air 4 64gb or ipad 9 64/256gb.. thank you
Go with the iPad 9 64GB for $269 or the iPad 256GB for $399 at Walmart. Add in the Apple Pencil 1 for $99 from Apple and you have the best value in tablet tech for $368 or $498. That's my opinion.
Hi man :) Do you think the basic model will be useful for many years to come or I would have to replace it a few years? (And in that case the Air model is better?) I mean, would they both last about the same time or the Air would last significantly more, in terms of Ram requirements and OS updates?
I can't make my decision on buying Ipad 9 or Ipad Air 4!! I heard that Ipad Air 5 is coming out soon (probably in March 2022) so I'm not sure should I buy Ipad Air 4 or wait until the release of the Ipad air 5 or choose to take Ipad 9. I'm a student so basically just mainly on taking notes, reading and maybe watching videos. Ipad Air 4 has a great offer now which is to get free Airpods so this is really difficult for me to make my decision. I need help!!!
I myself am getting the IPad Air 2020 because I really like drawing so the screens perfect and I’m very satisfied with the no button thing. It just works better for me personally 😄
ipad air 4 is really great! i’ve been using mine for almost 9 months, my ipad lasts me 2-3 days with 30% battery left but i only use it for browsing, watching and taking notes.
Hi there, I am looking to buy ipad 9 and one of my needs are video editing on luma fusion, mostly for reels and short form content. Did you notice any lag while editing? And which storage did you go for? Would really help me to know
Coming from the iPad Air 2, would the refurbished iPad pro 2017 10.5 inch be a better value than the iPad9? I can get the pro 64gb refurbished from Apple for €429($496) and the iPad 9 new 64gb for €365($442). Alternatively I can get a refurbished iPad pro 2020 11” 128 gb from Apple for €669($775). Or even the Pro 2018 11” for €589($681). So many choices. Or maybe wait for the new iPad 10 design should they make one. The proces are a lot higher in Europe unfortunately.
Do Wi‑Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2 in iPad 9th make any considerable difference against Wi-Fi 6 and BT 5.0 in iPad Air? Will I notice it in next few years as a casual user (browsing, netflixing, no gaming)?
Honestly, the basic iPad would be enough for me but I hate it that they still have this old design because I love the new design which is just available for the iPad air. But paying so much more money for the design? What's the possibility that the ipad10 will have those design?
Hey!! I want to buy an ipad air. This is November of 2021. I want to know if I should wait for the next ipad release?? Would there be major upgrades to wait for???
I had to give my daughter my iPad 9, but miss it. I have a choice of a used iPad 9 (which i loved) for $300 (Canadian) or an Air 4 for $450. I tried the iPad 10 and didn’t like it. Any advice?
thank you for this video, i’m currently choosing if i should buy the air 4 or 9th gen… however, if anyone else can help me with the decision-making, i’d appreciate it! i already have the macbook pro M1 and iphone 11. i will mostly only use the ipad for media consumption with my family and sometimes work-related stuff especially when multitasking (probably only to join online meetings; but not planning exactly as a laptop replacement since i want to utilize my mbp)! i’d really want a device that is future-proof. i don’t like the old design but air 4 seems a bit of a bummer in some of its specs too… mini is too small for me so it’s out of my choices, now idk which one to buy… my budget is fixed by $600.
If you have a macbook pro the air is pretty pointless to buy. They made it as a “cheaper” alternative for a laptop experience. I would do the ipad 9 for sure
This video is a prime example a great comparison from a simplistic perspective & to help you make the wisest purchase. I believe both are great values for the money. To me, it comes down to functionality. I believe the iPad 9 provides the best value.
I earlier had an iPad 3rd gen and I used it for several years before upgrading to an iPad 9th generation last December. I didn’t do much research then about iPads and hurriedly ordered the iPad 9th generation. Now I’ve had that iPad 9th generation for more than six months but I’m still not satisfied because the designs are much similar plus I’m also disturbed by the fact that it has a home button. I was just browsing and I got a deal for iPad Air 4 which is a previous model now, for 399 bucks. I can still sell this one for 350 bucks back here in my country. Do you guys think I should purchase the iPad Air 4 with a difference of barely 50 bucks and upgrade from 9th generation to this Air 4? Is it a upgrade worth for design and other minor differences? After all, it will cost me just 50 bucks and I’ll have a newer design, no home button, a better Touch ID sensor and a PREMIUM IPAD PRO feeling. Do you people think I should upgrade or wait for 2-3 years and then buy an iPad Air or Pro? Thanks in advance.😊😊

Hi Thanks for wonderful content. Have you noticed any shade of blue on the edges of your ipad’s screen mine has those especially on top and bottom. I think its called backlight bleeding and its the nature of LCDdisplays but its super annoying for me since I bought an ipad for I was thinking its display would by better than a samsungs. Mine is ipad 9
Can someone tell me which one would be better for taking notes, watching lesson videos and IMPORTANTLY in digital painting (like good for using procreate, recording process)
After watching your video, I decide to buy an iPad 9 next month, since the daily basic activity I need could be covered by this iPad. The additional reason is the price for the iPad plus apple pencil 1st version in my area is equal to an iPad Air without the pencil. I think it is more economical for me, in my case. Thank you for your video. It helps so much. 😊🙏
I'm still trying to be an artist, but I have no problems using the Apple Pencil with the non-laminated display on the iPad 9. It's as good as I need it to be, as long as I face directly towards the screen for more sophisticated artwork on the 9th gen.
Can you please help me with e ink vs ipad9? I'm a researcher, I have to write, take notes and read books and pdfs a lot, I also need an access to my emails and I can use a color to draw a colorful diagrams ( not essential) , so what do you think? I'm thinking about getting a supernote A5 but then because of the expenses I thought maybe an ipad 9 would be a better choice. I'm so confused...
I'm from Bahrain and after watching many of your reviews I just want to say you are one of the best content creator and honestly maybe you are the first person ever I do subscribe to the channel from my self without feeling I'm forced to , keep the hard work, good luck
Can i ask if anyone found the non laminated display on the 9th gen ipad to be distracting/ detrimental to the note taking apple pencil experience? I foresee alot of notetaking but i am also on a budget as a uni student. Is the writing experience for the Air 4 much better to warren purchasing it over the cheaper ipad 9th gen? If anyone has similar experiences, pls share your tots :)
Look, I don't have one yet, but I've watched many reviews and such, and you won't notice it. You have to purposedly look after it and it won't affect your note taking.
I hear people who didnt have the ipad pro would lose the pencil a lot since it doesnt stick to the side. That might cost u more in the end if u keep having to replace pencils. Obviously that is up to u and how responsible u think u are lol. But if ur like me and have a tendency to misplace things, i i would go for the ipad air 4. If you plan on taking notes solely on ur ipad more than a physical notebook, you might benefit from the experience of a laminated display, especially if you enjoy drawing.
I have an iPhone 13 pro max and a MacBook Air (2019) want to buy an iPad just for Netflix and surfing web would you recommend iPad Air 4 (64gb) or iPad 9 (256gb) thanks.

This is my first ever apple device and at this price point I guess it's a very nice entry into the ecosystem
I'm a doctor and I mostly use the device for watching some lecture videos, solving tests, normal document work with word excel powerpoint and PDFs
And so far 64gb looks enough
CONGRATS!!! You got a great device at a great value!
Thank you ❤
Thanks for sharing!!! So glad you’re enjoying the iPad 9!!! Thank you for being part of the channel!
Just bought the Ipad 9 because your Ipad 9 review. Thanks!
That's great Mira!!! I hope you enjoy it!
A friend of mine got essentially the same upgrade and she is beyond thrilled!u
I tried the new fire HD 10 and it’s too slow to load up books and browsing the web. I tried two different hd10 thinking the first one was a defect but second device had the same effects. iPad 9 will be the highest selling iPad in 2021. Great choice on buying one.
It has stereo speakers but just firing from one side
Speakers are that big of a deal? Because that's what's keeping me away from buying it.
@@BlackPlated my opinion, it’s a big deal. If you’re on a tight budget, get the iPad 9. Otherwise, get the iPad Air 4 when it goes on sale again.
Finally, this video is out. I literally had to check your channel everyday for this comparison.
Hope you enjoyed it Lynn! (I'm working as hard and as fast as I can) 🙏
@@TechGearTalk Thank you for all the comparisons and reviews. I’ve finally bought an iPad 9.😁
That’s exactly what I’m looking for. Thank you for helping me sorted things out. A dilemma between air 4 and 9.
Thanks for doing this. I’ve been searching for a in-depth non bias comparison. This video was great! I have the 9th gen and was thinking of switching but I’m not an artist or gamer so it doesn’t make sense. Thanks for this
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for the feedback and for being part of the channel.
Best bang for your buck is the IPad 9 -particularly at 256 gb
Got it on sale at launch for $459 - over $100 cheaper than the Air 4 with 64 BG - and so far, it’s been sensational.
Besides that - 2 other reasons
- I have the first generation pencil and upgrading would cost another $129
- No headphone jack on the new designs - the 9 is probably the very last IPad that will have that feature
So it’s an easy choice for me - sure it’s not as cool looking -
But in every other way that’s important - to me, the 9 is clearly the better buy here!
I hear you on the display issues. I have 3 of the Air 3’s and luckily apple agreed to replace all 3 of them and said the manufacture for the display has updated them and says they no longer have this white spot issue. I guess we’ll find out
@@1BadVan
Very Cool that they did that!
They told me it was out of warranty and there was nothing they could do!!
@@johnrigs6540 yea that sucks, I do have the apple care plus for all of mine here. Worth the money for situations like this
So its like that last fatchick in the bar? That even though the hot chicks are all gone at least you don’t have to go home by yourself if you lower your standards and expectations and that will do?
@@americancitizen1885 interesting comparison when talking about iPads. Not like he bought a Samsung galaxy tablet
Essentially the ipad 9 does everything the Air can do the Air just does it better or is a step up. I think its worth it for people to look at the other Apple products they own. If you have a mac idk why you would bother wasting a few hundred dollars on the Air or 11” Pro.
I appreciate the insights Michael. I does come down to use case and preference.
Yeah, if I didn’t already have a MacBook I would’ve bought the air instead of an iPad 9, maybe even a pro!
I have a MacBook but honestly in the house I use my iPad more tbh way more convenient for me
Interesting perspective
I got the iPad 9th generation and love it. It works great. I’ve used it for gaming and for emails and web browsing. I also purchased the Logitech combo touch keyboard and it was a great investment.
Sounds like you got an excellent setup! Thank you for sharing Rafael!
Hey, Guzman Congrats! You picked the 64gb or 256gb?
@@sujanroy5812 I got the 256gb since this is my first iPad and I wanted to have a good amount of storage.
@@LIT0187 Great choice! I also ordered my first ever iPad 9th gen, 256Gb bcoz i needed ample amount of storage space. Hoping for the best 😊
Sketching was *h a r d*
I've also tried the iPad pro 2020 for drawing.
@@duniainsri951 I'm glad I helped! :D
What are you using it for tho? Art? Or writing, note taking and such?
@@quirkyguy29 just for note taking and edit video for exercise in my university. Most of all recommend me to buy Basic Ipad, cause cheaper than air and it worth to buy for the first experience. Btw it's my first Ipad wkwkwk
As a iphone 13 owner i have never had a ipad but brought a ipad 2021 today for my daughters birthday tomorrow. For the price tag of £300 i was blown away by how good the ipad 2021 is the display screen, performance in gaming or web browsing is very good. I think i might look into the pro ;)
Other than the Full screen display, the chip and magic keyboard support,
it’s really not much of a difference really!
Would like to see a redesign on the base iPad tho l
I wonder if it's coming next year!
@@TechGearTalk I really hope so, I mean at this point I’d even take the iPad Pro 2017 design lol
(With the thinner side bezels)
You can't design iPad better than what they have, it'll just be a rectangle with thin bezels.
I upgraded from the 7 because of the space difference. Both function well and the battery on the 9 is great. I have a problem with the speaker on incoming FaceTime calls but it’s awesome.
Yesss the video I’ve been needing lol thanks so much for making this
Glad to hear it. Hope you enjoyed it!
What is that paper/x-ray magic you use at @7:14??
I always enjoy watching your videos! Very informational and as a content creator myself, I appreciate the effort you put in to making such wonderful and valuable contents. More power to you!
I appreciate you taking the time to leave such kind feedback!
Thank you for this! I choose iPad 9th 64gb because it's the only one I can afford. Mine is on the way so I'm exicted for it. If one day I have enough money, I'll go for iPad Pro 😊
This was super helpful. Thank you for comparing these!
Thanks for the video. I’m more and more convinced to buy iPad Air 4!!!
i’ve been waiting for you to release a video like this and i’m so so thankful u act made one! literally my fav channel when i need tips like this! thank you so much!

Which GB did you purchase?
Hi man :)
Do you think the basic model will be useful for many years to come or I would have to replace it a few years? (And in that case the Air model is better?)
I mean, would they both last about the same time or the Air would last significantly more, in terms of Ram requirements and OS updates?
thats what was my question as well
5-6 years depends how u use it etc
That's a good question i would like him to answer it that would super helpful
Any recommendations for paperlike screens for the ipad 9?
7:18 what is that green sheet of paper which is showing the internals????

Which storage you have? I want to buy ipad9 but still conffusing chose 64gigs or 256gigs. Thankyou
Is there a big difference for gaming and battery life?Thx
Great review , thank you. Watching this again and I think iPad 9 will do just well for what I need it for?
So glad it's helpful!
Do Wi‑Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.2 in iPad 9th make any considerable difference against Wi-Fi 6 and BT 5.0 in iPad Air? Will I notice it in next few years as a casual user (browsing, netflixing, no gaming)?
They are unlikely to. That would not be a reason for me to get the Air over the iPad 9. Hope that helps. Appreciate you being part of the channel!
Thank you!

how procreate app ? Does this program work the same on both?
I wonder if the ipad 10 will look like air 4 and pro 11'
Honestly, the basic iPad would be enough for me but I hate it that they still have this old design because I love the new design which is just available for the iPad air. But paying so much more money for the design? What's the possibility that the ipad10 will have those design?
Hm, interesting..

@@LongHotDogs63 thanks a lot for your reply, really appreciated.
thank you for this video, i’m currently choosing if i should buy the air 4 or 9th gen… however, if anyone else can help me with the decision-making, i’d appreciate it!
i already have the macbook pro M1 and iphone 11. i will mostly only use the ipad for media consumption with my family and sometimes work-related stuff especially when multitasking (probably only to join online meetings; but not planning exactly as a laptop replacement since i want to utilize my mbp)! i’d really want a device that is future-proof. i don’t like the old design but air 4 seems a bit of a bummer in some of its specs too… mini is too small for me so it’s out of my choices, now idk which one to buy… my budget is fixed by $600.
If you have a macbook pro the air is pretty pointless to buy. They made it as a “cheaper” alternative for a laptop experience. I would do the ipad 9 for sure
@@jessicawilliams8687 ah, i didn’t realise that. i guess ipad 9 is the right choice in my case… thank you for the reply!
which do you ended up buying?
Can you connect external SSD with ipad 9? Considering it doesn’t have a c pin?
Thank you. Great review.
Hey, please advise me ipad 9th gen 256GB and air 4 64GB

Ofcourse it will last atleast 3 yrs easily
Both of them should last 4/5 years, potentially even longer

Thanks for wonderful content. Have you noticed any shade of blue on the edges of your ipad’s screen mine has those especially on top and bottom. I think its called backlight bleeding and its the nature of LCDdisplays but its super annoying for me since I bought an ipad for I was thinking its display would by better than a samsungs. I'm wondering that can people notice the difference between Bluetooth 4.2 and Bluetooth 5.0 when using the True Wireless Stereo?🤔
Finally a video with iPad 9 vs iPad air 4 comparison

@@missyvalentine9931 i really satisfied with my decision ! It really have complete features that you want 🥰
