I don't play games like ping or COD, etc. I like casual games no higher than 1 GB per game, I don't have many photos, just one or two, would 64 GB be perfect? I'm thinking about using it for virtual school, would,64 still be okay, or will I be out?
Thanks for the thorough comparison. I ended up buying the 9 after looking at the differences and price. Truly, I was drawn to the 10 only because it is colorful and looks more modern.
The speakers only firing out of one side ruin media consumption without using headphones/external speakers, and for me that made the iPad 7, ipad 8, iPad 9, iPad Air 3, and iPad Mini 5 complete dealbreakers. It’s hands down the worst aspect of my iPad 6 and why the only iPads I’m considering to replace my 6 with are the iPad 10, iPad Air 4/Air 5, or iPad Mini 6
I just bought the IPad 9th Gen from Best Buy as a Christmas gift to myself ( it’s sitting under the tree 😅). Best Buy had it on sale for 230 bucks. I honestly only needed a iPad for streaming Netflix, UA-cam, Disney Plus etc, web browsing and light gaming. the iPad is mainly used for when I am traveling or on vacation. So it didn’t make sense to spend a lot of money on an iPad for my basic needs since I also have an iPhone 15 pro max and MacBook Pro M1.
Just bought the 9th gen as I needed it as a virtual whiteboard to draw on during meetings. Every other iPad was not worth it for my use case. Really think about what your use case is before buying even if you have money to throw. I could have easily gone with a 12.9inch pro however I struggled to think of what my use case would be and this would be mostly the same for 99% of people.
@@wowsean could go for an android based tablet to be honest. I think there are some cheaper ones and also you might be able to get a second hand device. Can get some good deals second hand
Just get the iPad Air 4. Honestly, there's no point in buying the Air 5 since it's "major upgrade" was a new chip. The Air 4 has a better screen, better audio quality, better chip, works with Apple Pencil Gen 2 that snaps to the side and is virtually the same price as the iPad 10. If you want the best budget iPad, go for either gen 9 or even 8. Frankly, most people who use the iPad, use it for video and social media so a used, older generation would be just fine, as well.
Bought used iPad Air 4 with pencil and case for $460, oh did I forget its WiFi + Cellular? 🤣 I was waiting for 10th gen before pulling the trigger and once I saw how awful the price for 10th gen was I knew it had to be the Air 4.
I've been going back & forth between the two, especially since I realized that with my student discount, the iPad 10 is only $18 CAD more than the 9th gen when the 9th gen is full price. But I think I will go for the 9th gen. I'll be using it primarily for taking notes in university so I'll use the gift card that Apple gives with the student pricing for the Pencil and then buy the adapters to charge it separately from the iPad. In Canada, with my discount, the 9th gen iPad will only be $488 so that seems super worth it to me. Thanks for this video! It was super helpful!
I have looked over quite a few video reviews, and yours is the only one that provided enough info for me to finally make my decision. I ordered my iPad 9 today!
I‘ve watched 5 mins, had to stop the video, to let you know that all the points that you’re making in this video are so reasonable and practical, made me really thankful for your review! 👍
Got Ipad 9 as my first Ipad ever and Im happy with that. Because my laptop died during the xmas so then I decided to buy Ipad cause I do have an Iphone and for me its enough, to check social media, watching movies or reading my mails and Im happy with that.
Thanks for this! Really validated my recent purchase. I was using an iPad Air (2013). I do not do much other than reading on it, maybe some occasional UA-cam or video streaming service, hence why I have been satisfied with it. Two years ago the iPad had a hardware issue where it thinks there is something plugged into the headphone jack at all the times so I had to use a Bluetooth headset. Tired of this, and the slow speed of even browsing the web using Chrome, I broke down & bought a Fire HD 8 for $115. That thing was barely faster than the iPad Air! Returned it & the next day found the iPad 9 on sale for $250 at Target.
Wow, this was totally in depth and exactly the comparison I was looking for! I wanted the USB C originally, but losing the headphone jack and an annoying pencil compatibility means I will probably save my money and get the 9. Thank you!
Your reviews helped me make my decision in buying the iPad 9 in late 2022 before watching this video... But now that I'm watching it, I realized that I would still make the same purchase! The iPad 9 is amazing!! The only 3 complaints I have are, 1. Go for the OLED iPads if you have the budget, if not the LCD on iPad 9 is sharp, high quality and enjoyable 2. The speaker setup when watching cinematic movies or gaming will disaappont you in term of firing the sound only on one side of you, I personally don't care, I use bluetooth speaker mostly for movies and headphones for gaming. Casually watching some youtube or listening to a podcast is great and somewhat a little bassy on the iPad 9 speakers. 3. The non laminated display will be noticable taking notes at an angle .. try to be positioned at the center of the screen when writing notes.. it is a natural positiong while sitting straight at the table, so you'll get used to it pretty quickly! Last advise, if you can affoard, go for the 256GB storage. iPads are amazing, you like to install and download everything on them, 64GB is tolerable but is not enough for an enthusiast. I couldn't affoard paying more for the options myself mentioned, but I am so happy doing university stuff and arts here and there with my iPad 9 64GB Thank you for reading and thank you Gear Talk for giving honest and precise reviews ❤️🕊️
@@NeverSettleForMediocrity yes, you're right! I thought the iPad Air 2022 has an OLED display!!! But still, if the display is the most important thing the mini-led iPad Pro is the best

Thank you for your excellent reviews. I bought the 9th gen the day after 10th gen release on Amazon for $269, for my husband for Christmas. He currently uses a 2012 model. Thanks to you I understand the specs and who needs which iPad. The 9th will be a big upgrade for him. I’m still using a 2nd gen iPad Pro that serves me well for photo editing and everything else. It would be great though to have the usb-c port. Using an adapter for that drains battery life quickly.
I really appreciate you sharing your story and decision-making process. I think you got a fantastic value at $269 - and I agree that it will be a big upgrade for him. Appreciate you being part of the channel!
@@RealJustinRoblox depends on the price you find it at and no I don’t see Apple dropping support for the 2018 anytime soon. Still really fast and was the first to start apple’s new design language so it still looks modern if you care at all about that.
Hello, can you explain your last sentence please? - Using an adapter for that drains battery life quickly. For what using an adapter drains battery? explain please? i want to buy ipad 10.2 - do you recomment it or ipad 9?
That's the perfect iPad for me the 10th gen. Keep in mind not all the people change their devices year to year. The last iPad I bought was an iPad Air 2 in 2014. And I'm still writing this comment on it, because my main purpose of it's existence was watching UA-cam and Netflix. Sometimes some web browsing and professionally I used it for Teams calls and also for apps for live sound mixing consoles like A&H dLive or SQ. I did not need anything else, and I would continue to use it if the battery would not become unreliable. My brother bought an iPad Air with the M2 chip and I loved it but could not justify the price on such low usage and since I know I won't use the Apple Pencil at all the 10th gen is perfect for my upgrade as it looks the same as the Air (which I love the look over the 9th gen by ba huge mile) and the camera in the middle is a big deal for me for the Teams meetings as I will look more naturally. So yeah I do get it in the year by year comparison it's a weird device, but for me it just ticks every single thing for a lower price than the Air. Keep in mind I used the 2014 till now with no issues for my usage so even if I get 6 years out of the 10th gen that's ok for me. So IMO there is a market for this product. I know I will enjoy it! Peace!
@@DaKoolDude It's absolutely awesome! Definitely a worthy upgrade, does everything I want, all works as expected, it was a good decision to get the 10th gen!
Thank you. I was wondering whether to replace my iPad9 with the 10 and recycle mine in the family, but the price change was shocking. Yes I saw they changed a lot in terms of specs but neither of them actually spoke to me, except finally complying to the obligation of moving to USB-C, as required by EU. In the iPad9 they complied by using the trick of putting the USB-C on the other side of the charging cable, just in case anyone wondered wtf. Back to the subject, I looked at your video to see it in real time and yes, I'd love to have the better resolution and camera placement for calls, which didn't come out as obvious from the list of specs. Other than that, the design change, the very small screen increase, the weirdness of charging the pencil, the same memory size, they are all meh. Not worth all that money difference.
One of the best tech channels out here! I found your videos around late spring when i was hesitating between the Air 4 and the 9th gen Ipad. I am a university student and was on a budget when it came to decision so i went with the 9th gen. I was thinking that maybe i should wait for the 10th gen to get released, but after seeing this comparison i would probably end up with the same decision. To be honest i am super satisfied with it so far, it's basically more than enough for everything i am using it. Keep up the good work man!
So far I’m really happy with my iPad 9th Gen & never looked back since. Got myself the Apple Pencil too last week & bam! It’s the best investment I’ve made & no regrets, TBH 😍😎
Although I really wanted the pro 11, I couldn't justify the cost for just a media consumption device. I went with the 9th gen. $279 at costco during the sale, and it will serve it's purpose for when I want a bigger screen and want to browse the web on the couch.
Much better to get that than the 10th gen for $450. I actually got an iPad Air 5 for just $50 more than the retail price of the 10th gen iPad, so I guess I dodged a bullet there too🤷🏽♂️
Coming from an older model, I love the new features on the 10; however, the reason I love the basic iPad is for the audio jack, which the 10 lacks. I also agree with you about the storage options.
I got the ipad 9th Gen for Christmas and I absolutely love it the main difference at least that I know of is the home button and screen size but they both use the same Apple Pencil and I am very thankful for getting this iPad!
This is the comparison we were all waiting for…. Done by the guy who does these comparisons better than just about anyone in the game! I got the 9 at 256 gb last year, and though I usually upgrade the basic model as often as I can It just doesn’t seem as urgent this time around. Kind of like the iphone. We all have the 12 pro max in my family and the 13 and 14 just have not seemed like “gotta have it “ upgrades. The performance of the 10 does not really seem that much superior to the 9 so I would basically be just trading up for the new design. And the price to do it just seems way too close to the Air models - which are better - to make much sense! And while it may look ridiculous to charge my pencil by sticking it out of the bottom - this new way of getting out various easy to lose adapters and cords makes that method look pretty darn good by comparison!
@@NeverSettleForMediocrity Got to tell you I’ve had many iPads that have laminated screens and I don’t really think they are that important ! In fact - I’ve had 2 of those iPads ( iPad Pro 2017 and iPad Air 3 ) That developed white spots on them! So even though u r right- the Air 5 definitely has a better and brighter screen - to me the non laminated screens look perfectly fine and honestly do not bother me at all!
@@NeverSettleForMediocrity Nobody cares about that….the majority of people doesn’t even know what a laminated screen is, and for those who do know it’s a minor (worthless) aspect.
Thanks for this breakdown! I tried comparing on my own, but as someone who isn't particularly tech savvy I found the online information overwhelming. I think I'll go with the 9th after your breakdown. It's a shame because I honestly love the sleek design of the 10th. The biggest determining factor for me was the price for each GB option.
I'm so glad I could help Rosie. I'm so glad I was able to help you with the decision. Thank you so much for leaving a kind comment and for being part of the channel. Enjoy your iPad 9!!!
In last Christmas I bought iPad 9 form your clips that was so helpful thank you for that and it has bin one year and I play games everyday and it is still working like butter 😍👍
It’s sad that they haven’t improved the basic iPad more and keep lowering price. The biggest issue with the 9 is still the 3gb of RAM. But the processor is perfectly fine and it’s very snappy. The 10 is not worth the premium price IMO for basic iPad use.
I bought the iPad 10th gen in blue. The glare is absolutely horrible. I used two different anti flare screen protectors that just made it a little blurry and almost made the display look like a cheap tablet. I ended up switching to the 9th gen simply due to having less glare.
I keep my iPad in a case, so the design isn't a big deal. I have the iPad 8 with 128 GB storage. It's unfortunate they did away with that storage option. That seems to be the sweet spot. For my use, it's still a good iPad. When I bought it, I only paid $349 for the uprated storage, so it's a good value. I'll probably keep it for at least 2 more years. battery life is still 97% after 2 years, so it should last 2 to 3 more years.
Check your trade in value if you upgrade to the 9. I went from 8 to 9 and the larger base storage and better camera was a nice upgrade for $150 after trading in the old iPad.
Thanks for all your videos. I've been considering which ipad I should get (never had one before). When I heard about ipad 10 coming soon, I decided to wait and while there are some nice upgrades, there things which definitely don't make sense (such as no pencil 2 compatibility). For the price increase it just wasn't worth it for me as my main use will be note taking and browsing the Web with some streaming. I managed to find the ipad 9 in the UK for £279 (apple current pricing is £369) and then I had a further 6.5% discount via my employer so it cost be approx £261. Been using it for a few days and very pleased with it. Don't play heavy games (or many games in general) so there is plenty of power in the ipad 9 for me. Also got the pencil for £83.99 so, again, very pleased with the price point and the product quality. The charging of the pencil 1 is a bit annoying but for the insane amount of money I saved not getting the ipad 10,i can happily live with it. Will just need to make myself a small pouch for the adaptor as I don't like charging it in the ipad lol. I was also considering the air 4 but again, the price was still comparatively higher.
@@oliviafrancesxxx it has since gone up to 287. 99 but still better than other websites. I got curry's to price match it so my purchase was via them instead
thanks for the info. I just wanted something I can use to jot down ideas or look through online courses for my school. Just picked up the ipad 9 for $250 at target.
I think the best purchase that I made was a couple months back when I purchased the iPad ninth GEN. Unfortunately it was stolen less than a week after purchasing and I just now bought the 10th GEN iPad, unfortunately it was all anyone had around me without contract so I bought it cash. $665 later. Besides the obvious that you spoke of and the new colors, lol love the sarcasm, there is not much difference and I would recommend the iPad nine.
I have the 9 and although I would love the new 10, here in Canada I paid $429 for my 9th gen and the 10th gen is $599. Not worth that much of a price jump to me.
Which one is better for university? I want to buy an IPad to take notes, is it worth buying the ipad 2022 or the 2021 one is a better option, beacause it costs less and there aren't so many differences for my purpose?
Hay mate, this is a key decision. I'll choose iPad 9 over the 10..Why? because it is more affordable with a still powerful A13 chip plus the 3.5mm jack big for me and besides Apple will still support them for the next 3 years!
I want to get a generation 9 10.2 screen 256k ram don’t care on the color grey black,or silver is fine but need headphones Jack I don’t like the new ones at all where can I get a Gen 9 without having to refine the house? I need to get switched over soon any recommendations where to buy? I saw some refurbished ones for about 50.00 lesss with open box. But not sure it’s worth the risk?
I’ve just bought a reconditioned iPad Air with the 2nd generation pencil and keyboard. I was waiting for he 10th generation and was very disappointed ☹️
Great video. I was just shopping for one of these and was debating between the 9 for $249 and the 10 on sale for $349 ($449 everywhere else). Bummed that they seemed to have missed the mark a bit but at only $100 difference I think the 10 will be the way to go. Curious if the apple pencil thing is something that can be remedied in a future software update or if it requires onboard hardware. Either way, it'll do more than what I need it for anyway haha.
A little bit over 2 weeks ago that I got an iPad in space grey 9th generation. It is easy to used and setup, too. I liked it so far that I put in some movies from my iMac Air. I do have an older one but, the battery ballooned up. I can’t used it. I got the newer one on sale at Target.
I really don’t understand the fuss about the lack of headphone jack. I mean it’s 2022, how many years has it been since apple took out the jack on the iphones. Besides, it’s very likely that if you own an iPad 10, you own an iPhone 7 or later.
I recommend that you skip the Apple Pencil. Try the Logitech Crayon instead. It works just as well, has USB-C charging, and costs less. No magsafe charging though. 🤷♂ Just a thought....
I find it criminal Apple didn’t add landscape stereo to the iPad 7, let alone the iPad 8 and iPad 9. Without a doubt the worst aspect of these iPads and makes landscape content consumption a no-go without headphones/external speakers
I came across a problem which occur on 2 iPad 9th Generation: The volume in phone calls (FaceTime or VoIP app) has to be on 100% in order to hear something. When watching videos, if the sound is good if volume is less than 50%. What are your experiences?
Thanks for the review, they just had a massive price drop and I got the 9th gen for $140. I think its decent considering its my first ipad and im only using it for streaming and writing notes
I definetely like the 10 bc of I dislike the bezels on the 9. Does the 10 actually have problems or is it just in comparison to others? This would be my first iPad but the air is too expensive and I love the way the 10 looks Ps.: for a student that would use the pencil a lot, study for long hours and plan to use it for as long as possible (many years)
As always, great comparison! I went through a similar decision making process when I moved from the iPad Min 5 to the Mini 6 --- were the extra features worth the extra cost? I can make a case in my mind for the iPad 10 if: you're not interested in the pencil (never have been), purchase a 3rd party case (always do), like the updated design (definitely), and really like the new camera placement (definitely x 2). So I'd be tempted if I were considering going to a larger tablet (I'm not 😊).
Thank you for your continued support and input. My only question would be - can you find a refurbished Air 4 for less Money. You wouldn't get as good a camera system, but will have a better display and speakers. Maybe I'll do that comparison as well. 😂🤣
I had to give up my 9 because my daughter’s iPad 6 wouldn’t charge. I bought a 10 because with had a $75 gift and with the education discount it was only $45 more than another 9. But, I hate the iPad folio and wish they offered a much lighter Smart Cover, and I think the 9 is more ergonomically comfortable to hold. I am considering returning my 10 because I hate the folio so much. But, I’ve been flip flopping before the return limit is exceeded
Upgrading ipads every 3 generations seems to be the sweet spot. Getting a new one every generation is a huge waste of money since 99% of the time they are more of the same...
I still have no idea what Apple was thinking with the iPad 10. So many things make zero sense. I saw the IPad Air 4 for $350 at Wal-Mart the other day. Save your money and find a good deal on the iPad Air 4. I have an 8th gen iPad and I’m heavily considering the Mini 6 and it’s $399 most places these days.
I’m still uncertain! I have an iPad Mini 5th Generation. I don’t game. I don’t edit videos (I do want to do a bit), I don’t watch movies. I watch, or listen to music (usually without headphones), and my biggest use is for Procreate. I’m just a hobbyist though. My Mini is 64GB and is nearly full. I find it a little small now for drawing. I’m confused about the pencil. I usually charge with a pencil dock. I have a little adapter that came with my pencil a couple years ago-is that what I’d need? The 10th Gen, with 256GB is $799+13% tax; the 9th Gen with 256GB is $619 + tax here, so that’s not a budget item for me! I just wonder if they’ll have something else new soon?
I’m a medical student I’m planning to buy a MacBook . Is it good to buy a M1 MacBook Air or M2 MacBook Air or macbook pro version for my studies ? And also is it worth to wait till 2023 for a better price drop ? Can you please suggest me it will help me a lot
Recently bought the 9th gen as it my first ever ipad, i got everything i needed and even more. Btw they included the usb-c adapter in the Apple pencil 1 box now, probably to support 10th gen users.
But I need an I-pad for an app that Android does not support and I need 4 mb Ram min. and the 9th is only 3!!! Where else do I go for the money? the 10th? All comparisons forget to mention the MB's of RAM, does this not make a difference to some people? 3 mb RAM as compared to 4MB RAM?
Thank you for the info. My sons 7th generation iPad died. He got it in 2019. I want to replace it and was initially thinking the 9th generation because of the price and it’s similarity in style to his other iPad, but I have a question. Do you know if it’s lifespan starts as of the manufacturing date? I would hate to buy a two year old IPad and then have to replace in a couple of years. Or would it’s lifespan start the day I purchase it and use it?
great review and very honest. I think the 10th generation should have 128gb for the price but as always they do it on purpose to push you to the to top model as 64 in 2023 is a bit ridiculous. going to skip this round!
To me this 10th gen will be worth it to buy next year. I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t updated for 18months and then back to chip updates only while the price lower over time.
I mainly like the ipad 9 because it has a home button. The only reason I was drawn to the ipad 10 was because of its 5g. But personally I prefer the ipad 9
Okay, we were able to buy the iPad 10 for $300 and we were going to sell our iPad 9's. Was that a waste of money just to get the sale price and not wait for a possible iPad 10 successor?
It seems that younger people prefer aesthetics first, whereas older people value a balance between practically and cost with aesthetics being less important. In any event, an iPad will always be an intermediate device mostly used for entertainment and leisure.
The biggest problem for me with the ipad 10 is the specs. It tells me Apple is not planning any real change for ipados for a long time. Otherwise this would get obsolete real soon compared to M1 and 8gb RAM.
I don’t think so… I think they will make more differences between slower and stronger hardware like now with stage manager… So the m1 and m2 iPads will maybe see the fusion between macOS and iPadOS in a couple of years where this devices just will keep a updated version of iPadOS… It would just be the same like with surface or Android go…
@@Eddy_E. I don’t see that happening since it will get mac sales down. And that’s a new dev team just to get macOS with a touch UI for the iPad.the easiest will be simply having universal apps. But that also won’t happen because it will take sales from iPad to Mac.
@@thesurvivor10 you see that too much in black and white… This will be a transition and has allready started in the moment apple changed iOS to iPadOS… Since then iPadOS and macOS comes more and more closer together So iPads are just the new MacBooks, everybody who don’t see that just must look closer…
@@thesurvivor10 yeah it’s a business, right… But why should they keep the macs in a golden cage when the people buy more and more iPads but less and less macs? The time will come (and that soon) where apple must (!) close the gap between macOS and iPadOS cause the iPad will become the more important device… That’s just from the business aspect..
As an artist I would go for the ipad 10 because my old ipad 9 could not handle spotify and ibis paint at the same time but for everyday just go for ipad 9

I’ve the iPad 5th Gen but i find the apps are starting to run a lot slower and the battery has taken a huge hit, it can drop extremely quickly with use. Even swiping to another screen or scrolling on safari can cause the iPad to almost lag… just wondering whether to go for the 9th Gen which is €360 or go for something more powerful? I only use it for netflix / youtube / safari and correcting school work.
iPad 9th Gen is on sale for Black Friday in America for $260. It’s the best deal right now for a great iPad that will last years. I had the iPad 2 from like 2013 that has lasted all these years for school work and streaming and it’s only just slowed down, which is why I bought the 9th Gen. suprisingly enough the 9th Gen is even cheaper than iPads were when they first came out 10 years ago
Go for something more powerful like air 4 or air 5. The 9th gen is a good option. If your not a low budget. It’s also pretty speedy. But I think the air is more better in my opinion. You get a bigger screen , camara and etc. also if your gonna get celluar just get the air. Cuz the celluar for 9th gen was legit 500-600. Mind you I have the 64 gb option
If you watch a lot of Netflix and UA-cam, I’d say at the bare minimum you should consider the iPad 10, iPad mini 6, or iPad Air 4/5. The iPad 9, iPad Air 3, and iPad Mini 5 are all dealbreakers for the speakers only being on one side. Hands down the worst aspect of my iPad 6 and led to me exclusively watching content on my iPhone XR instead. The only purpose my iPad 6 served in my 3 years with it is being a ultra-budget wannabe Wacom Cintiq art tablet and nothing more. I really look forward to picking up a 10/mini6/Air4 though as a much more versatile daily driver for art/video/gaming

Just bought the 9th gen as I needed it as a virtual whiteboard to draw on during meetings. Every other iPad was not worth it for my use case. Really think about what your use case is before buying even if you have money to throw. I could have easily gone with a 12.9inch pro however I struggled to think of what my use case would be and this would be mostly the same for 99% of people.
what is an alternative device for the whiteboard?
@@wowsean could go for an android based tablet to be honest. I think there are some cheaper ones and also you might be able to get a second hand device. Can get some good deals second hand
@@Somethingrandom12334 ipad will last like 4-5 years with updates and great performance

Just got my nine gen in December for 247 usd on sale
ipad 9 is on sale for 399 CAD
I picked up the 10th Gen 256 gb on sale at Costco for $379. It was $130 more but is newer, faster and has 4x the storage.

Got Ipad 9 as my first Ipad ever and Im happy with that. Because my laptop died during the xmas so then I decided to buy Ipad cause I do have an Iphone and for me its enough, to check social media, watching movies or reading my mails and Im happy with that.
Same but i never had an laptop and it has like 256 or 265 gb! My mom got it with the apple pen and i was extremely grateful.
God bless u brother
Thank you!
So glad it was helpful, Katrina!!! Thank you for being part of the channel!
Your reviews helped me make my decision in buying the iPad 9 in late 2022 before watching this video... But now that I'm watching it, I realized that I would still make the same purchase! The iPad 9 is amazing!! The only 3 complaints I have are, 1. Go for the OLED iPads if you have the budget, if not the LCD on iPad 9 is sharp, high quality and enjoyable
I couldn't affoard paying more for the options myself mentioned, but I am so happy doing university stuff and arts here and there with my iPad 9 64GB
Thank you for reading and thank you Gear Talk for giving honest and precise reviews ❤️🕊️

Oh wow - thank you so much for the kind words. I appreciate you for being part of the channel!
Peace!
I'm in exactly the same boat! How's your 10th Gen? I'm also on Air 2 and it's on its last legs now :(
@@DaKoolDude It's absolutely awesome!

U girl 👀
Although I really wanted the pro 11, I couldn't justify the cost for just a media consumption device. I went with the 9th gen. $279 at costco during the sale, and it will serve it's purpose for when I want a bigger screen and want to browse the web on the couch.
Much better to get that than the 10th gen for $450. I actually got an iPad Air 5 for just $50 more than the retail price of the 10th gen iPad, so I guess I dodged a bullet there too🤷🏽♂️
I got my 9th gen on sale at Best Buy a few months ago for $269. Very happy with my purchase.
The 10th Gen 256 gb for $379 at Costco. Is $100 more and has 4x the memory. Is this worth upgrading to?
Coming from an older model, I love the new features on the 10; however, the reason I love the basic iPad is for the audio jack, which the 10 lacks. I also agree with you about the storage options.
I got the ipad 9th Gen for Christmas and I absolutely love it the main difference at least that I know of is the home button and screen size but they both use the same Apple Pencil and I am very thankful for getting this iPad!
This is the comparison we were all waiting for….
Done by the guy who does these comparisons better than just about anyone in the game!
I got the 9 at 256 gb last year, and though I usually upgrade the basic model as often as I can
It just doesn’t seem as urgent this time around.
Kind of like the iphone.
We all have the 12 pro max in my family
and the 13 and 14 just have not seemed like “gotta have it “ upgrades.
The performance of the 10 does not really seem that much superior to the 9
so I would basically be just trading up for the new design.
And the price to do it just seems way too close to the Air models - which are better - to make much sense!
And while it may look ridiculous to charge my pencil by sticking it out of the bottom
- this new way of getting out various easy to lose adapters and cords makes that method look pretty darn good by comparison!
both have worthless inferior non-laminated screens so Ipad 10 price is absurd when compared to what you get with an Ipad Air 5
@@NeverSettleForMediocrity
Got to tell you
I’ve had many iPads
that have laminated screens and I don’t really think they are that important !
In fact - I’ve had 2 of those iPads
( iPad Pro 2017 and iPad Air 3 )
That developed white spots on them!
So even though u r right- the Air 5 definitely has a better and brighter screen
- to me the non laminated screens look perfectly fine and honestly do not bother me at all!

Coming in 2024, will the 9th gen be a better choice than the iPad Pro 10.5? My use case being for digital drawing
How do you read battery health on an iPad?

Hay mate, this is a key decision. I'll choose iPad 9 over the 10..Why? because it is more affordable with a still powerful A13 chip plus the 3.5mm jack big for me and besides Apple will still support them for the next 3 years!
That logic makes sense to me 👍🏻

Great video. I was just shopping for one of these and was debating between the 9 for $249 and the 10 on sale for $349 ($449 everywhere else). Bummed that they seemed to have missed the mark a bit but at only $100 difference I think the 10 will be the way to go. Curious if the apple pencil thing is something that can be remedied in a future software update or if it requires onboard hardware. Either way, it'll do more than what I need it for anyway haha.

I really don’t understand the fuss about the lack of headphone jack. I mean it’s 2022, how many years has it been since apple took out the jack on the iphones. Besides, it’s very likely that if you own an iPad 10, you own an iPhone 7 or later.
I think either go for Ipad 9th gen or Ipad Air M1. Ipad 10th gen is not priced properly.

the 10 is a downgraded Air, not an upgraded ipad.

I definetely like the 10 bc of I dislike the bezels on the 9. Does the 10 actually have problems or is it just in comparison to others? This would be my first iPad but the air is too expensive and I love the way the 10 looks
Ps.: for a student that would use the pencil a lot, study for long hours and plan to use it for as long as possible (many years)
I wh rn had any issues with the 10. I would consider a used iPad Air 4 with 2nd Gen pencil if you use the pencil a lot.
Buy the iPad 10th gen and buy the alternative stylus pens they're pretty good
As always, great comparison!
This is amazinggggg... Thanks for the clarification 🙌

Im new to Apple product and I'm a student. I'm planning to get a Ipad 9th generation. Suggest me if it is worthy?
can you please do Galaxy Tab S7 fe vs IPad 10
I'll add it to my list!
5:00 what is that green plastic paper called?
iPad 10 takes your wallet to the next level! 😂
I’m gonna upgrade from 9th Generation to 10th Generation.
Damn I'm torn. In uk there is about 150£ difference between the 2.
Also, are there any good keyboards (cheaper, non-Apple) for the v10?
It seems that younger people prefer aesthetics first, whereas older people value a balance between practically and cost with aesthetics being less important. In any event, an iPad will always be an intermediate device mostly used for entertainment and leisure.
Hey, is the iPad 9 good for a child who likes to play Roblox a lot and games. Also, does it have very little lag?
The biggest problem for me with the ipad 10 is the specs. It tells me Apple is not planning any real change for ipados for a long time. Otherwise this would get obsolete real soon compared to M1 and 8gb RAM.
I don’t think so…
I think they will make more differences between slower and stronger hardware like now with stage manager…
So the m1 and m2 iPads will maybe see the fusion between macOS and iPadOS in a couple of years where this devices just will keep a updated version of iPadOS…
It would just be the same like with surface or Android go…
@@Eddy_E. I don’t see that happening since it will get mac sales down. And that’s a new dev team just to get macOS with a touch UI for the iPad.the easiest will be simply having universal apps. But that also won’t happen because it will take sales from iPad to Mac.
@@thesurvivor10 you see that too much in black and white…
This will be a transition and has allready started in the moment apple changed iOS to iPadOS…
Since then iPadOS and macOS comes more and more closer together
So iPads are just the new MacBooks, everybody who don’t see that just must look closer…
@@Eddy_E. No, i am looking at it as a business just like Apple has done always. They are not thinking about the usre but their profit.
@@thesurvivor10 yeah it’s a business, right…
But why should they keep the macs in a golden cage when the people buy more and more iPads but less and less macs?
The time will come (and that soon) where apple must (!) close the gap between macOS and iPadOS cause the iPad will become the more important device…
That’s just from the business aspect..
As an artist I would go for the ipad 10 because my old ipad 9 could not handle spotify and ibis paint at the same time but for everyday just go for ipad 9
THANK YOU!! This is just what I needed to hear🎉
Superb. If anyone is feeling confused about anything relating tech., then i think your channel may be a big help for him/her. All doubts cleared 😊 btw 👍
Oh wow - thank you for the kind words!
Just go for the 9th gen, it’s worth it
This channel is great because it is takes into perspective of the average consumer who is trying to get the best value for their money but also trying to get a great user experience
Thank you so much for the kind words and support!
