Just wanted to drop a quick comment and say Ashley I really applaud you for jumping into this UA-cam thing. As mike said, the first few videos can be a little awkward but you’re doing a great job. Can’t wait to see more content!! And more than anything, thanks for showing us out there that you don’t have to be as “flawless” as Mike and Talon and John and most of these other dudes to do your thing and get lots of views and subscribers.

Watched this video as part of a search for backpacking meals, and halfway through it I had to stop and rewind because the LLOD guy was sitting there in the video. You guys are both cool, great stuff.

Hi guys, UK guy here. In my country we have pubs (public house/ inn) which you guys call a bar. You can buy that kinda food over the counter in our pubs in England and we call it 'Pub grub'. Grub is a slang name for food in UK. One life live it you guys.

Good video. I haven’t been camping in a long time (not all in my family can handle it), but I still like watching these type of videos. This video popped up. I said she looks familiar so I watched it, and then Mike pops up. No wonder she looks familiar. Ok, new subscriber.

It would be so amazing if you did a camping kitchen “tour” video to show all the cooking gear you use (stove, table, utensils, etc). I’m looking to revamp our cooking situation and would love some pointers on what to buy!

Just discovered your channel and must say it is delightful. The JD Breakfast Bowls have been a longtime favorite of mine. Since package prep instructions are for the microwave, I never thought to cook one on the stove. Brilliant! Just finished a meat lovers over my GasOne camp stove using a skillet. It worked perfectly. And it's much easier. Mornings at camp will no longer be just coffee. Thanks so much and will be looking forward to future posts...

We actually make the spicy ramen when we camp. We add veggies and soy sauce or chili paste usually. Easy & yum! For breakfast we make breakfast burritos ahead of time and then warm them in a pan over the stove or in the tempo tusk if there are several of us.

Easy scrambled egg/omelets: eggs/peppers/cheese/salt/pepper/meat/whatever.... crack and dice everything into a blender bottle before you leave and throw it in the cooler. In the morning just shake and pour into skillet!

Take BIG oranges and cut them in half, pull the peel off like an avocado so you have two complete halves. Mix up some muffin mix (I prefer blueberry) and spoon the mix into the orange-peel bowls and set them on HOT coals. Pretty soon you will have orange-citrus muffins, with no extra dishes to wash!
If you have a family or big group to impress-I mean- feed, you can do the same thing with cake mix and pumpkin or watermelon rinds.

AWESOME VIDEO! Glad to see you getting more comfortable in front of the camera.
We tend to do stuff like aluminum foil baking for foods like potatoes and other veggies. It doesn't take too much time and tastes good. I also like to be healthy and as a Type 1 Diabetic it is kinda a necessity:) We try and do lots of veggies and stuff that is healthier, but sometimes when we go camping, we just eat the more convenient stuff that is a little less healthy and quicker to cook. I'll leave another comment if I can think of something else, cause I'm sure I'm forgetting something:) Keep up the good work!:)

Always interesting to see how others camp. I always keep ready to eat food and the first meal precooked, so if you arrive in the dark and rain etc, you can still eat. I try to limit packaging (take in, take out!) and never take beer in glass, always cans. (smashed glass uncool, and cans are light and crushable to take home/town).

I am doing Keto and my favorite easy meal for camping is omlets in a bag. I will Crack the eggs and prepare other ingredients (sometimes bought in the section for pizza toppings) before we leave. The kids can prepare their omega with the things they like in gallon freezer bags. I have a large pot on the burner of billing water. I use a wire over the pot with clothes pins to keep the top off the patg or off water. Check them and when firm, they are done.

I’ve used pressure cooked chicken breast shredded with onion and bbq sauce the day before a Friday night camp trip with because work wouldn’t allow me off. So it was a night set up. BBQ chicken sandwiches for me and the group. Also like the chicken... meal prep works good for fast and less cooking. It’s just a heat and eat.

Knowing my wife, she'd probably prep all the meals before the camping trip anyway. We got one of the coolers Mike suggested on LLOD and it keeps stuff cold (with a bag of ice) during the entire trip. We're not much into prepackaged meals so we're okay prepping beforehand. This breakfast taco would've definitely been a goto meal for my younger self though!

I often enjoy the Jimmy Deans biscuit cheese sausage and egg sandwiches at home. I took one wrapped in aluminum foil to a camp trip, Put in pan still wrapped and flipped often with my heavy gloves until warmed up like would have been in the microwave at home. Pretty easy to burn the biscuit a bit so be on top of it.

Take apples, cut out the core and fill the hole with Red Hots (those little cinnamon candies). Wrap them in foil and throw them in the coals while sitting by the fire. Heat them long enough to make the apples soft and eat them with a spoon! Hot cinnamon apples! Great when it’s really cold out!

On the last night of our camping trips - usually night 3 - we cut all the vegetables (potatoes, carrots, onion) and toss it in some aluminum foil with a burger pattie over the grill and make silver turtles. The kid loves it because she can slather it in ketchup....
Because we're in Florida it's always freaking hot out so I try to not bring things that require staying cold, so most of what I bring is grains and fresh vegetables that don't require refrigeration....

My wife and I love having big fancy meals with some meal prep, we normally save them for our last day of the camping trip, big elk or moose steaks along with various veggies and a whole bunch of assortments of spices, and hamburgers we make from scratch at our campsite. During rest of our trip we normally have banquet mega meals salisbury steak frozen meals, frozen pizza and hotdogs, and tyson chicken strips/patties, and of course for the kids, s'mores

    • @jakeboss2653
      @jakeboss2653 4 роки тому

@@ashventure1903 I wouldn't say it taste similar to elk, in my experience moose taste just like their habitat, strong taste in willow and other vegetation they eat, and moose meat doesn't have a gamey taste if cooked right and cleaned immediately after harvesting

All you need to do is learn to cook (at home) and do the same thing in the woods. A little harder, not much, but you avoid high priced single meals in all of that packaging. Clean up is the time consuming thing for me while camping, the basic idea if to limit how many different pans/pots and utensils you use. It only takes a little time to think through some meals which share common ingredients so you can buy fresh. My way to easy camping is make as many meals using tortillas (no need for a plate or eating utensils. Maybe Fajitas for dinner (direct pan(s) to tortilla, yeah throw the rice and beans in their too), breakfast burritos (direct to tortilla as shown in this video, use some more of that onion and bell pepper from the Fajitas/beans/rice if you have it), and a wrap for lunch (just roll up some cheese, sliced meat, lettuce, a little salad dressing). If you cooked up enough steak/chicken/shrimp for the Fajitas, then you could throw that in your breakfast burrito instead of the sausage. Voila, easy fill you up meals!

My wife is Vegan so I tend to eat what she eats when we're together. She's just getting into camping with me so my camping meals are getting more complex so they fit her needs while still being tasty to me. Trying to pack light while having every raw ingredient necessary for a good meal and not a basic meal is roughhhhhhhh sometimes. I'll probably cave and get a Dometic because premade vegan meals just aren't the best.
