Really happy that you talked about this, my pc is currently right under my desk, I figure I'd rather have noise coming from in between my ears rather than on the left or the right.
Hear me out. If you move it out of the room (even though the cables are kind of expensive) - the highs coming out of the speakers are so much more clear. That constant noise attenuates the levels of almost everything in the same frequency range. This is a real phenomenon called Auditory Masking (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auditory_masking).

Hey
Yo man, I'd highly recommend at least investing in multiple USB hubs. Honestly I wouldn't do more than a 3 port multiplication, even WITH a powered hub. The reasons being bandwidth and latency. The added latency really starts affecting things even if it's not immediately apparent, especially when you're working with things like midi interfaces etc. USB is unfortunately not that great when you try and multiply it, and depending on the gear you have plugged in, it's probably gonna be best to just run USB extension cables straight to the products.
Good news is that I'm only using midi over USB, and my interface is on a separate FireWire card.
